[Guide] Top Metagame Threats
#1
(I will update this as feedback is given)

Hey everyone, I'd like your help to make a guide for top threats in the current Utanium Metagame. This should help prepare newbies and veterans alike for what to expect in Uranium battling. I would like input for top threats because I'm just one guy so I only see things from my own perspective.

Please post any threats you see while laddering, and if you can, general sets and strategies for beating them. If we get enough threats we kight be able to do a ranking guide in a similar style to http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/ora...3.3571990/ .

After some deliberation, yeah, I'm going to turn this into a list. For now the threatlist is going to be based on my own personal opinion, but we will sort everything out as a community later. They are listed in terms of rank first, then alphabetical order second.

Important: I will NOT be discussing things that are unavailable, such as Belly Drum Inflagetah or Regenerator Luxelong.

===================================================

S-Rank

[Image: latest?cb=20160816044702&format=webp] Mega Inflagetah
--- The fastest pokemon in the game, so fast that it outspeeds even some choice scarf Pokemon. And if that weren't enough, it gains access to good priority moves and The Acceleration ability to boost its attacks to absurd levels. It makes Sonic the Hedgehog jealous.

Common sets: Flame Impact, Extremespeed, Earthquake, and then a filler move, usually Swords Dance.
Strategy against it: Bulky water types, entry hazards and Thunder Wave.

[Image: latest?cb=20160816124145&format=webp]Nucleon
--- Possibly one of the most dominant pokemon of all time, with its incredible ability in Atomizate and a Hyper Voice in its arsenal, it gains a 180bp spammable Nuclear move that OHKO's most of the metagame. Probably going to be banned due to its insane power and lack of any good counters/checks.

Common sets: Choice Scarf- Hyper Voice spammer.
Strategy against it: Stealth Rocks, priority moves, Specially defensive steels.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A-Rank

[Image: latest?cb=20160827183102] Mega Archilles
--- The fire starter of Tandor has an immensely powerful mega evolution. Upon gaining a burst of speed and special attack along with Drought, it can spam fire attacks like there's no tomorrow and sweep any unprepared team.

Common sets: Special Attacker set, with Fire Blast, Earth Power, and a hidden power of choice. Possibly Stealth Rocks. Be wary of the Drought support.
Strategy against it: Water moves, even in Drought, are good against it. Getting rid of its weather may help too, without sun boosts its fire moves become a lot weaker.

[Image: latest?cb=20160827182933&format=webp] Mega Electruxo
--- The water starter and resident WTF even is thing thing of the region. In its mega form, it gets Drizzle, making its two STABS incredibly potent and hard to deal with. With a good 110 base speed and the ability to take some hits, this kelpie will be like rain on your wedding day sweep you if you aren't careful.

Common sets: All out special attacker. Water move of choice, Thunder, Hidden Power Whatever and a filler move. Simple, yet effective. Be wary of the drizzle support.
Playing against it: Ground moves, Bulky grass types, Sticky Web.

[Image: latest?cb=20160816223551&format=webp]  Lanthan
--- A Legendary Pokemon that possessing an excellent defensive type, defensive stats and a very useful offensive ability. It can be a tank, totally defensive, or even a good physical attacker. With the ability to check or counter many other threats on this list, Lanthan proves itself as Rare Metal legendary.

Common sets: Specially defensive, Physically defensive, Tank. Most run Subduction and Metal Cruncher no matter the set due to getting the Sheer Force boost on top of massive attack power.
Strategy against it:  Taking advantage of its low speed, faster supereffective attackers can deal with it.

[Image: latest?cb=20160827183026&format=webp] Mega Metalynx
--- The grass starter of Tandor, a grass/ Steel menace that walls everything to Kanto and back. With incredible dual defenses and one of the best defensive typings of all time, "Wall" barely does this thing justice, especially with its massive attack stat and good movepool.

Common sets: Specially or Physically defensive Tanks. Usually runs Leaf Blade, Knock Off, and then coverage moves such as Earthquake and Swords Dance.
Strategy against it: It has low speed and 3x (Heatproof) weakness to fire, so you can do something with that.

[Image: latest?cb=20160816054856&format=webp] Seikamater
--- The legendary queen of all insects, and perhaps the most versatile pokemon of all time. Thanks to its Elementalist ability, it gets STAB's on five, yes FIVE different attacking types, which can be abused to Kanto and back. Combined with a massive support movepool, it can pull off more viable sets than even Mew. No wonder Tiko was afraid of this thing...

Common sets: So, so many. Most common appears to be support Sticky Web, but even this is contestable.
Strategy against it: It has abyssal speed, so you will probably always move first. Use that to figure out which set its running and counter appropriate; Protect can also be used to scout.

[Image: latest?cb=20160816030848&format=webp] Yatagaryu
--- Possessing a fearsome ability in Thunderstorm, and a small but precise movepool, Yatagaryu can OHKO or 2HKO most of the game when played right. STAB Thunder is nothing to scoff at even with resistance, and it's amazing speed and special attack make it difficult to counter.

Common sets: Nasty Plot, Choice Scarf/Specs, All out attacker. All variants of Yatagaryu are required to run Thunder, and then a dragon type move.
Strategy against it: Choice Scarf attackers, Sticky Web, Fairy and Ground types

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

B-Rank

[Image: latest?cb=20160816020457&format=webp] Mega Baariette
--- A scary sheep with a scary typing; dark-fighting STAB's backed up by a monstrous attack is nothing to scoff at. It's defenses and speed when mega evolved are also top notch, and with Drain Punch to recover its health, you'll have a hard time stopping this thing.

Common Sets: All out physical attacker. Usually runs Knock Off and Drain Punch for STAB moves and Iron Head for fairy's. Can also run a good Bulk up and Swords Dance set.
Strategy against it: It has low speed before mega evolution. Fast fairy types wreck havoc on this thing.

[Image: latest?cb=20160816020819&format=webp] Mega Nuclear Baariette (Possibly A rank?)
--- If anyone manages to get one of these with the right nature and good IV's, the meta may get wrecked. Maybe. Nuclear / Fighting is completely unresisted and supereffective against everything except S51-A, and it has a huge attack stat and access to Nuclear Slash. Be afraid for the lucky person who gets his hands on one of these.

Common sets: Nuclear Slash, Drain Punch, two fillers depending on what the teams needs. It only needs two attacking moves.
Strategy against: It has three 4x weaknesses, its speed still isn't good before mega evolving, and there is a lot which can outspeed it.

[Image: latest?cb=20160812152051&format=webp] Belliadon
--- A devilish archetype right down to its immunity to fairies, Belliadon has a monstrous attack and good STAB's for sweeping on hand. With a good movepool at its disposal and a decent signature move, Belliadon will send you burning.

Common sets: Choice Scarf, Choice Band, All out attacker. Usually runs Knock Off, Flare Blitz / Infernal Blade and Earthquake.
Strategy against it: It is weak to a lot of common attacking types like water and ground, and its speed without a choice scarf can be a weakness.

[Image: latest?cb=20160816185537&format=webp] Gliscor
--- As in the official meta, Poison Heal Gliscor walls physical attackers all day and all night, while annoying them back with utility moves like Toxic and Knock Off. It's a good wall that definitely needs to be considered in the meta.

Common sets: Poison Heal + Toxic Orb, usually runs Earthquake, Knock Off, Toxic, Protect or Substitute.
Strategy against it:  Ice types and water types can score an easy KO, especially if they are special attackers.

[Image: latest?cb=20160816011558&format=webp] Laissure (Possibly A rank?)
--- Possibly the horniest pokemon of all time, Laissure has an incredible diverse movepool, good speed and attack, and a typing that is supereffective on most of the metagame. Be prepared for a lot when you see this pokemon.

Common sets: All out attacker, SR attacker, Choice Scarf. Earthquake is a must, then perhaps Ice Fang, Megahorn, Swords Dance... the list goes on.
Strategy against it: Choiced variants can be foiled with their earthspam with levitate or flying type, bulky waters and grass types can wall most of its moves.

[Image: latest?cb=20160816232219&format=webp] Luxelong
--- WEN REGENERATOR A great defensive pokemon. Luxelong posesses an incredibly good typing and overall good stats. Serving as a support mon, it can easily help its teammates and annoy the opposition. If only it has a good form of recovery outside leftovers and Wish to make it ascend to A rank.

Common sets: The support set, consisting of Wish, Protect, Moonblast/Draco Meteor, and a utility move of your choice.
Strategy against it: Due to all the switching it has to do, entry hazards can wreck it, the more the merrier. Fairy types can also deal with it pretty easily.

[Image: latest?cb=20160815204331&format=webp] Metalynx
--- Akin to its mega evolution, Metalynx possesses a great defensive typing and really good defenses. Since it can hold leftovers, it can recover health, but its defenses and attack are significantly lower than its Mega's. Still a really good wall, especially if you want a mega slot open.

Common sets:  Specially or Physically defensive tank, annoyer sets.
Strategy against it: Pyro spam. It's low speed may hinder it, too.

[Image: latest?cb=20160816141229&format=webp]Mega Sableye

--- The hallmark and face of Stall. While it is being suspect tested in the official metagame, here not so much due to lack of stall oriented pokemon in Uranium. Still, as a Magic Bouncer with incredible defenses, as well as one of the only weays to stop entry hazards, Mega Sableye is your go to pokemon.

Common sets: Defensive Annoyer sets, with Will o Wisp, Reover, Calm Mind and an attacking move. Can act as a wincon or simple annoyer.
Strategy against it: Physically inclined fire types, One-turn massive power moves like a Lanthan Subduction or Yatagarasu Thunder. Mold Breaker statuses.

[Image: latest?cb=20160816135854&format=webp] Tracton (Possibly A Rank?)
--- The scariest crane you will ever meet. It has a great attack and an OP ability in Speed Boost, allowing it to sweep when a good opportunity arises. After a few Speed Boosts and extra boosts, it will cause mayhem.

Common sets: Boosting attacker. Protect, Shift Gear, Swords Dance, and then a steel and dragon move + coverage options are the norm.
Strategy against it: Its defenses aren't that great, and ground is the most common attacking type in the meta. Additionally, Hazers/ Phazers can ruin it completely if they get a chance.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

C- Rank

[Image: latest?cb=20140104165421]Archilles (Possibly B Rank?)
--- Without its mega evolution, Archilles can still be a formidable threat. However, without Drought and with much lower offenses, it will have a hard time KO'ing pokemon, especially with its crippling water weakness.

Common sets: Stealth Rock Attacker, All out attacker, running physical moves such as Flame Impact and Earthquake.
Strategy against it: Bulky waters, or anything with a good water move that can survive one of its attacks.

[Image: latest?cb=20160816194535&format=webp]Nuclear Jerbolta
--- Nuclear Jerbolta is a one trick pony much like Nucleon, except much less so. It's entire purpose is to spam its ability to go first and use Radioacid to try and score a KO.

Common sets: Choice specs, Radioacid, three filler moves because it literally can't do anything else.
Strategy against it:  Survive its first attack with high special defense or steels, and then you can KO the thing. It doesn't have much special attack anyway. Stealth rocks work as well, since this thing has to switch out constantly.

Well, its seen a interesting guide and cool guide. Very detailed. But you forget some others threat. Like Archiless, the second mostly speed pokemon in the world, losing only to Inflagetah. And not forget he is Fire and Ground, so he cant not only uses all moves of Inflagetah, he have STAB with ground, making him a great threat, and Physical attacker, and a Special Attacker.
Kogeki currently ability to active in battles: Anticipation.

-Lanthan is a big one. Those Sheer Force Subductions and Iron Heads are gonna HURT.

-Archilles is another big one, both mega and normal. Those Sun boosted special attacks will destroy things, and Belly Drum sets are gonna burn things to ashes too when that egg move becomes accessible.

-Metalynx's two forms can wall everything without a fire or fighting move. That's very influential.

-M-Electruxo has the dreaded rain support combined with STAB Thunder and Hydro Pump/Surf. And it can take some hits too. Ick.

-Laissure and Beliaddon, the other two pseudo-legendaries. They're more versatile than you might expect.

-M-Baariette is scary. Hits like a truck and has good bulk and Bloodlust to boot. Nuclear version is scarier if you can get one with decent IVs.

-Seikamater is possibly the best (somewhat balanced) bug ever in the entirety of pokemon. And is an incredibly reliable Sticky Web setter.

-Gliscor is Gliscor. Walls everything that doesn't OHKO it.

-M-Sableye likes doing its normal things too.

-Chimaconda and M-Arbok have their niches in Petrify. Scary stuff when they can revenge kill on a whim without sacrificing their item.

-Harptera is the other big priority spammer.

-Tracton is a beast of a backhoe/crane. Speed Boost plus great attack and decent speed = sweeps.

-Luxelong is the best support mon in the game, and practically the only true counter to Yatagaryu.

-Fafninter is incredibly bulky and hits really hard.

-Dunseraph = para-flinch. That is all.

-Shell Smash Atomic Punch Raffiti. Ew.

Honorable mentions:
-Espeon, Nimflora, and M-Kiricorn for having Magic Bounce as well.

-Contrary Chimaconda

-Stenowatt for those baton passed Tail Glows and Speed Boosts.

-Terlard and Chainite for their trapping niches.

-M-Syrentide for being one of Uranium's best bulky waters.

-Coatlith in the sun. (hard to pull off well though)

-N-Jerbolta for those super priority, 1st turn Radioacids. Ick.

-Moody Splendifowl (will likely be banned tho cuz Smogon Tongue )

-Almost all the other megas (sorry S51-A T, but you suck pretty badly compared to what else Uranium has to offer).

-Scarfed N-Barand.

Lots of stuff you really have to watch out for in Uranium's meta. Get caught off guard by any of it, and you'll find your team is going down in a couple of minutes usually. A couple of these cases will also need some suspect testing most likely. Lanthan, for example.

The purpose of this guide is to get feedback from other players to reach a consensus, hence why only three were added for now, because those three were indisputable. The rest will be added based on player feedback, like the one you just gave.

I recommend checking out the analyses written for the pokemon, as that's where most of them should be.  The majority of these have analyses posted already.  I'll post my long delayed Archilles guide soon as well.  Smogon will have analyses for the canon mons, though EV spreads might differ in the end potentially due to the different threats in Uranium they'll be dealing with.

If need be, I could also maybe write up a little clarification later for a few of them, but no full blown analyses on them here obviously Tongue

Perhaps. I never quite like the look of it, but then again I am more of a cat person myself...

Oh, and where would Pokémon like Syrentide or Alpico lie? They are useful or fast Pokémon, respectively.

I'm thinking both should be A to B rank

The list is looking much better now that more has been added to it. Make sure to mention Shell Smash Atomic Punch Raffiti, normal Inflagetah, M-(Nuclear) Baariette, N-Jerbolta, and Gliscor, as those are the other ones that should definitely be making this list. The rest of the ones I mentioned are rather debatable tbh.

And concerning Archilles and going to B rank, make sure to consider the Belly Drum set it will be able to run in the future. That's in my Archilles analysis btw, which I'll be posting in a few minutes here.

Yeah don't worry, I'm updating it over time. As for Archilles, I already said I don't consider things that aren't available in the game yet, so until then I won't mention the belly drum set. If it gets released, then I'll just update the guide again.
