From the scrubby, fire-adapted forest at the base of the mountain, at the north end of the trail, come the hoots and hollers of a loud Pokemon.
"Well, that's unusual...there's normally no pokemon here. Â I'm not sure what kind of pokemon that could be, but we should probably avoid it, wild or trainer. Â There are lots of paths around here we can take at least, and I know of a few ways to get where I want to go. Â It shouldn't be too hard to avoid it. Â Unless it comes after us for some reason...we should be fine though. Â I've never seen any pokemon not owned by a trainer of some kind here, and it's rare for anyone to be hiking this trail in particular due to how rough it can be in some places."
Only slightly fazed by the pokemon cry, Nathan continues into the forest, down the trail, taking great care to avoid any branches in the path that he knows head towards the north, and once again assuming Ventus will follow.  He'd get to where he wanted to go.  The large stone at the base of that tree was unlikely to have moved since the last time he had been here...
Larry enters the pokecenter and gave nurse joy his pokemon as she was healing them Larry went to Siva and introduced himself saying "hi I'm Larry nice to meet you" he extends his hand for a hand shake Larry saw the cottonee  and bent down and petted it Larry said "this cottonee  seems to like attention." Soon nurse joy said "Larry your pokemon have been healed to perfect health" Larry take his Pokémon and thanks nurse joy and said "I'm going bug hunting if you need me siva" and walks out the door
READY FOR PARAS
Aight you Paras people, post what Pokemon you send out and what its orders are!
Larry and Winston, if you both have your eye on that Paras you will have to work out who gets to throw Pokeballs at it.
Nathan and Ventus manage to reach the stone undisturbed, but they can still hear the distant Pokemon.
Ventus nodded at Nathan's advice, before commenting, "Hmm...I guess its decided, then. I'll take care of the Ekans, until I find a better owner in the next town over. I heard Ginger Town was having a upcoming festival of sorts, so that would be an opportune time to find the right home for the snake. Thanks for the advice, Nathan." As they continued to walk, they reached a trail that lead up to Mt. Molten. Looking at the forests that surrounded the volcano, Ventus started feel a bit uneasy of the surroundings.
Even with Nathan's assurance that there were virtually no wild Pokémon on the lower trails, he was not too sure that fortune would favor them, especially with the fact that they don't have their Pokémon companions. When they both heard what sounded like a very energetic beast, his feeling of foreboding only intensified. He swallowed whatever concerns he was going to voice, though, and continue to follow him. "Well, I trust you know this area best, so I have total faith in your expertise. Still, if we happen to be accosted by a wild Pokémon... well, we will handle the situation the best we can. If worst comes to worst, though, leave me and run."
Fortunately, they both arrived at Nathan choice of meeting grounds unacolsted, to Ventus immense relief. While he can still hear that rambuctuas Pokémon, it far enough away from them that its a distant threat at this point. 'Still, I'll keep an ear out for those cries. If they get any closer to our location, I'll let him know and we'll decide on what to do," he though, sitting on the ground in front of the large stone. With a small smile on his face, he enjoyed the surrounding warth of the mountain. "Ah, it feels wonderful up here. Not as hot a the desert north of Castila, but its nowhere near as arid, so that's a plus. Since I already posed a question at you earlier, I feel it fair for you to share your questions with me."

Nathan leans against a tree across from the rock underneath that one old tree. Â He goes silent for a few minutes as memories come rushing back to him. Â The unbearable heat of that day. Â The sight of someone or something laying on that rock. Â The surprise and shock when he discovered it was a Ralts, beaten almost beyond recognition. Â The sudden rainstorm that sprung up without warning as he rushed the injured pokemon back to town. Â The absol that had followed them until they left the forest...wait, an absol? Â He'd forgotten that detail almost entirely...had it really only been a year since he'd found Ralts here? Â 'Guess I was caught up in the moment at that time...but thinking about it, I don't know what that absol was doing here...was it chasing us? Â Watching us? Â Whatever it was doing here, I have a hunch it was related to Ralts...' Â Nathan's expression goes from neutral to thoughtful to confused during this time.
After another moment though, he asks his question, ever mindful of the surrounding sounds of nature. Â "So, you said you wished to help and know some pokemon intricacies. Let's start with that. Â How much do you know about raising psychic type pokemon?"

"There we go, Winston." He notes gamely as the Paras finally comes skittering out. Settling back into a more relaxed position, he sharply taps his stick against the ground, fishing a Pokeball from his belt with his free hand.
"This should work for a start."
Like a coiled spring, Winston is a ball of energy, fidgeting earnestly at his feet.Â
He smiles inwardly.
I've been looking forward to this. Looks like the little guy has been too. Not much opportunity to test myself as a trainer in police work.
"Go for the Bite. I'll back you up." He taps the cane in a steady rhythm, focusing entirely on the battle at hand.
The Pokeball weight shifts in his hand as it resizes from storage and he cautiously settles his thumb over the control button. There's a slight clamminess in his palms as he feels his muscles tense in anticipation of the fight - trepidation and tension that seek a release through a burst of action.
He smothers it with a series of slow breaths, forcing an artificial calm over him as he waits cautiously, trying to predict the first move of his wild opponent.
"Quite a bit, actually. My time at Unova University had me acquainted with the myriad facets of Pokémon while getting my double major. A few classes were all about how to deal with the many Pokémon; Remedial and Advanced Pokémon Handling, if I recall, were all about learning handle and care for the many Types and Species. From my knowledge, raising a Psychic type is a rather...tricky prospect for most." Ventus looked away from Nathan from a moment, and began to rummage in his satchel. A few seconds later, he pulled out a what looked to be a prism, judging by how it was reflecting the wanning daylight in a spectrum of colors.
"Proper rearing of Pyschic types require being in tune with the Pokémon in question. Like this prism, a trainer's mood shines through the Pokémon, greatly affecting their attitude and overall growth. A happy go-lucky trainer is more likely to influence their Psychic to become carefree and energetic, while a person with insidious intentions will end creating a rather mal-adjusted and vicious Pokémon. " Ventus spins the Prism around in his hands as he's speaking, causing it to send out a spiril of color.
"A trainer's mood is also important to consider when around Psychic types, for both obvious reasons and less... intuitive ones." With a deft hand, Ventus inverts the prism, causing the rainbow of colors to focus into a predominately blue light. "Trainers in good moods pass on that positively, bolstering their Pokémon effectiveness. This is especially true with Psychics, as their strong mental acuity make them even more receptive. While this can allow a Psychic to be even more effective with a receptive trainer, a closed off or moody trainer..." He turns the prism to its sides, causing the blue light to turn a melancholy purple.
"Well, it will fair rather poorly. A especially insular person will have great trouble raising a Psychic type, as the Pokémon is practically cut off from their main pillar of support, and an abusive trainer...well, I rather not discuss it. ." Ventus smile turned extremely bittersweet as he finished, setting down the prisim on the ground. He looked very pained, though he managed to maintain a semi-positive attitude. "I have a feeling, though, that you know as well as I do about that subject, so let not dwell on the dark side of Pokémon Training. "
Taking a deep breath, he wrapped up his lecture. "The bond between a Pokémon and a trainer is important, but its absolutely tantamount to caring for a Psychic type. It take a person increadible control of with increadible control over their emotional state not to severely affect a Psychic's personality and disposition, and it require them to be quite attentive to their partner needs in order to prevent them from spiriling downward. Its why researchers and professional trainers alike consider them to be some of the toughest Pokémon to properly raise and train; only Dragon, Ghost, and some Fairy types are consider tougher to trained. Most people who own Psychic types are Mediums themselves, or people who are especially empathetic, such as myself."
Ventus looked a little abash from admitting that, but he figure its no harm. He doubts that Nathan will take advantage of that aspect of him. If he does though... well, he knows how to stand up for himself. "My naturely empathy towards others is extremely high, to the point some people consider me outright Psychic for my abnormal perception. It certainly helps me communicate with Pokémon more than the average person, that for sure. Its part of the reason why I know so much about Psychic types, as I got assigned to work with them and other Pokémon studies more due to my high empathy. I have dozens of stories related to my research, but I digress. You only asked my expertise on Psychic themselves, not my personal experience with them."
He sighed, a little out of breath from all the talking he has done. He didn't have to be this informative, especially since he could have dumbed down his info a bit more, but he felt that Nathan deserved to understand Psychics as much as possible. He has a Ralts, after all, one that share an extremely powerful bond with him. He wants to prepare him as much as possible, as he has a feeling that it will be crucial on his quest. "With all that said, do you need me to clarify anything for you. I went through into a lot of detail, so it helps to review over it to let it sink in."

Without looking away from the rock, Nathan replies, "I think I've got the idea.  Well, since you seem to know so much about the topic, how about when it comes to teaching them psychic type moves, like Confusion?  I wouldn't mind a few more ideas in that regard, particularly considering Ralts doesn't even HAVE any right now, and probably doesn't know a whole lot about using his psychic powers in the first place.  Aside from his 100% empathy, of course, which I'm sure you've noticed." As Nathan finishes saying this, the pokemon in the distance cries again.  Was it closer this time?  He still had one more question for Ventus after this one...he hopes he has enough time to ask it.  While not much of a question for Ventus himself, Nathan was curious to see how he would respond to it...

"Teaching Ralts Confusion would be relatively easy, given the rather strong bond it shares with you. All you have to do to help teach it is to mentally convey a sense of disorientation or 'mental sickness' for it to study, then ask it to 'pass' it along to another Pokémon or human. This way of teaching it usually causes the Psychic type to become a bit nauseous itself until it can succeful replicate the sensation in another target, but once it does the move comes much more easier to it than if it would learn it naturally. The experience even helps it learn moves of a similar nature, like Psychic or Psybeam, which is made more easy if the trainer can help them with those moves. Most typically can't, due to not having similar Psychic or empathetic ability as the Pokémon, but it certainly does not hurt to try."
Â
As Ventus carefully explains how to teach Confusion, he notices that Nathan seems to be contempulating a particularly interesting question, judging by how pensive his expression has become. "Hmm? Is something the matter, Nathan? You don't have to hesitate to ask if that is the case. I always welcomes question from others, especially those that are eager to learn." While he says the, he discretely cheaks his surroundings for that noise. Its appears to be somewhat closer, so maybe he should wrap this up and get Nathan ready to head back down. Hopefully nothing bad happens, but if it danger comes, they shouldn't be here to meet it head on.

Nathan smirks, still looking at the rock.  "Ah, it's nothing of importance.  Just was wondering if you'd figured out why I haven't been completely giving you the cold shoulder despite your relatively bad first impression.  If you haven't yet, I'd suggest you think a little bit more about who gave you that Togepi egg in the first place, and why I might believe you aren't just making the whole story up.  Now then, I believe we should go.  Don't need whatever it is that's out there catching us unawares.  And when we get back, I'll even let you join me in our training session, if you wish.  Raphael's certainly going to need it." Â
He stands up straight, and begins heading towards the path back to town...but not before one last look at the stone from over his shoulder. Â Wait a second...was that a shadow in the trees that just moved? Â It couldn't be that absol again, could it? Â Had it been watching them this whole time? Â And if it was an absol..."Yeah, we definitely need to move. Â Let's get out of here quickly, but carefully. Â Stay close behind me. Â I have a bad feeling about this..."
