Seeing the Magikarp in the river, Larry is inspired to try something he feels is very important. He's going to measure his two Magikarp. He knows the length of his frying pan, so he can determine their total length too.
(10)(5) Larry's first Magikarp is 49" long, a bit above average.
(2)(1) Larry's second Magikarp is 20" long, very small!
I needed to roll some dice.
Larry doesn't get on on weekends as often, so if Valder gets on before Larry, we'll have Larry encounter Butterfree. He likes bug types, and that could be good XP if he doesn't want to catch it.
Fletchling
Shiva's Initiative: (3) + 3 = 6
Birb's initiative: (1) + 2 Dex + 1 survival = 4
Staryu rushes ahead into the water to block the top hat, while the two Combee struggle to fly the big garment back to shore without getting wet wings. Staryu is able to support it from below until it reaches the rocky shore.
Azurill still looks sad, and wiggles its tiny ears plaintively.
Ventus lets Arbok free in the secluded grove. In a little pool emanating from the river, he spots the gleam of silver. It is a necklace, possibly made by a vendor at the festival, with two polished wooden beads that enabled it to float. The central piece is a small Butterfree made of silver. Probably worth about $500.
Just as she expressed herself, Shiva took turns to a small side path of the Route, opposite the river, therefore with more trees and freshly looking green bushes. Hoping to find a Fletchling on the way... Maybe that Fletchinder she and Nathan witnessed before was a mother, and her youngs were scattered around here somewhere.
The air was clean and moist, but not too moist to be unplasant. From Vapor Falls, a cooling breeze was perceptible. Minun was by her side - lil' one knew Thunder Wave on top of Nuzzle, which was perfect here. Not as strong as Nuzzle - Shiva feared a little that this would be too much for a younger bird - but strong enough to keep unwanted birds at distance. That Fletchinder was still circling there in the sky, as if it was looking for prey.
On the way, she took out the opened package with Pirsif Berry Cookies she bought at the Festival, and crumbled one of the cookies into her hand. Reaching down, she gave Minun another half cookie to nibble, all while following the path. The package was half empty now. And...oh, there was indeed a Fletchling! It was resting on an upper branch of a neraby bush, a little above eye level. Seemed like testing its wings. Looks like it was alone.
Carefully, Shiva approached the scenery, taking care not to make any sudden movements that could scare the Fletchling away. As mentioned bird noticed her and was facing her now curiously, she stopped and extended the hand with the cookie crumbles into its direction.
"Come on, you three! You can do this! You're making good progress!" Nathan's not sure what else he could do to help as they drag the hat to shore, so he does his best to encourage them while they do so.
When they finally hit land, Nathan thanks his pokemon for their help, promising them some treats later. The Azurill looks relieved to be on land again, but something's still not quite right...
"Hey there, little guy. You okay? Here, have something to calm the nerves." Nathan gives Azurill some Honey. Maybe he could also figure out what's going on with this Azurill with Ralts's help...
Valder stays behind as Ventus and Nathan rushes of to save the azurill. 'Is it really needed?' Valder thought to himself while rolling his shoulders.
Looking around, Nylon spotted someone looking like a trainer.
(I'd like to battle Jeff. I'll start out with Ghastly, though I might swap her (it's a she from now on) if it's advantageous. And is it possible to also get that debris something item? Whatever it might be.)
Fletchinder Round 1
Shiva's Insight:
(5)(2)(6)
Fletchling's Will:
(2)(2)(5)(5)(1)(1)
The bird waits underneath Shiva's hand and opens its beak, ready for it to rain cookie crumbs!!
Ralts thinks Azurill wants something it does not have, or for things to be different than they are. Azurill eats the honey greedily, as though it's not eaten in a while.
Valder, each encounter takes up roughly the same amount of time. However, if you grab that debris first, it's unlikely Jeff is gonna run away! So that way, you get two encounters for the price of one, assuming no one else decides to battle Jeff.
In the debris of the river, not far from Fletchling's nest, the mercenary pulls out a strong steel wire net. The steel has been smoothed, and there are little styrofoam weights on it, which allowed it to float. It looks just like the net that was holding bundles of Hoppip together at the festival. Entangled in it is a bunch of broken or tangled fishing gear. You think you could construct an Old Rod out of it if you had even a single point in the Craft skill. The net is still in usable shape.
