Jeff sends out Nidorina.
Both your Pokemon have a certain defensive type advantage against this Pokemon. Who'll it be?
More fishing:
(2)(4)(5), Persim berry will move the rarity up a bit.
You fish up a Remoraid, which are not common but not admired as rare either. It seems lively.
Looking at the Remoraid, he decided it would be a worthwhile practice for Michael to fight. 'This little fish seems especially energetic, so let's see what hidden potential it has.' Ventus thought, before wiggling a bit in Apsis loose Wrap and withdrawing the mushroom's Pokeball from...somewhere. Pressing the button, Michael was out in a flash, and once he took a look at the fish, he was raring to go! That is, until he spot the now Arbok coiled comfortably around his master of course.
Shocked, he was about to hop over there and get his master out, when they held up there hand to him. "Now now, Apsis isn't going to treat me like an orderve, so focus you energies on that Remorad. I will be most certainly in good health, so don't fret about me," the researcher said, before reclining in his snakes coils comfortably. He had faith that Michael would do an excellent job against the cleaner fish, but if he somehow manages to get in a pinch, then Apsis will have his back. Hopefully.
Order: Battle Remoraid with Michael, and observe fight with Apsis on the sideline. He'll use automatically use Absorb twice on the fish per round until its -2 Pain Penalization, then I will decide if it gets balled or eaten by Arbok.

Effect: Regain 1/2 damage inflicted as HP
Azurill still seemed rather sad even after Ralts's company. The little pokemon had nowhere else to go, though, and Nathan finds himself carrying it, still in the hat. For some reason, the baby pokemon refused to get out of it. Maybe Shiva or Ventus would be able to a better job of comforting it...while Azurill didn't object to Nathan carrying the hat, it wouldn't let him get any closer than that.
He happens to find Ventus first. He appears to be fishing for common pokemon and feeding Aspis whatever he catches...'Well, that's one way to sate her hunger, I guess...' He walks up to the researcher in between his catches. He's wary of the giant snake, but hopes Ventus has her under control now.
"Doing some fishing of your own now, eh? I managed to get Azurill out of the river, thankfully. I think the little guy might have been abandoned. I, uh, can't seem to cheer him up, though..."
At this point, Azurill peeks over the rim of the hat to see who Nathan's talking to.
And sees an arbok. A very hungry looking arbok.
Azurill ducks back into the hat. It begins shaking. Aspis is looking in that direction hungrily...Nathan looks like he's on guard, as is Ralts. (They'll relax if Aspis doesn't attack, though)

Seeing Apsis eyeing up the baby Azurill, Ventus just lightly bops her on the snout. Ouch! Dazed from the boop, she looked at a little hurt for the moment. What did she do to deserve such reprimand? Looking her in the eyes, he calmly said : "Behave yourself, my sister. I'm already fishing up morsel for you, so you better leave well alone that Azurill and Nathan's Pokémon. Unless you have already forgotten what we have talked about in recent hours?" Raising a questioning eyebrow at Aspsis, she just huffed a little and turns away from them, refocusing her attention on Michael battle. There is at least the chance of getting food from that skirmish!
Setting down his rod for a moment, he looks back to Nathan and tilts his head curiously. "Hmm.... from a cursorily glance I can tell that whatever bothering this fellow has something to do with feelings of abandonment of some sort, or Separation Anxiety at the very least. If you would, can you please bring the dear closer?
I can try to get a better read of its emotional stake by having some hands on interaction, but only if it agree to it. Otherwise, I'll be unable to derive anything information pertaining to its depression," Ventus said, hand on his chin as he was staring intensly at Azurill. While it was just a Baby Pokémon, it was still a Fairy type, so he see little need to be reckless and provoke a reaction from it! Or from Nathan, on that matter!
Order: Use Ventus empathy to try and find what exactly is bothering the little guy, but only if it and Nathan agree to his terms. If so, I want to roll my Insight + Knowledge to see how much I can uncover. Otherwise, its out of his hands!
Apsis is content to bask in the sunshine and eye the fish.

Dmg: 2 Str + 3 power + 2 hustle -2 vit = 5 dice +1
(2)(3)(5)(5)(6) Michael takes 4 damage!!
Insight: (4)(2)(6)(6)
Strangely, it's not separation anxiety or abandonment bothering the little blue mouse, much. Those feelings are certainly there, but not what's making it so chronically sad. It is unhappy with itself! This is something you have almost never seen in Pokemon.
Nathan nods. Â "Just...be gentle with Azurill. Â (S)he's been through a lot. Â ( Is Azurill male or female?)
As he sets the hat down, keeping a careful eye on the snake, he doesn't notce the red streak flying towards them...
WHOOSH!
It's followed by a group of smaller birds, and they flew right between Ventus and Nathan, just barely missing them!
"Alright, that's it. Â Someone needs to teach those birds a lesson. Â I'll be right back. Â Tell me if you found out anything interesting later."
Nathan runs off, aiming to help Fletchinder with its bird troubles! Staryu and Ralts are gonna lead the charge!
Feeling Michael's distress and pain, Ventus head snapped to him and saw that the Remoraid had nailed them with an Ice Beam. Glaring at the bottem feeder for its audacious move, he flicked the button on Michael's ball, returning him to safety. Picking up on her master's sudden agitation, she stopped basking in the sun and gazed intently at the fish. "This little fish packs a nasty surprise Apsis, so I think its a little more trouble than its worth. Do as you please to it," the researcher cooly said to her, not in the least bit happy with that frosty stunt. While such a move point to it being a particularly strong specimen, perhaps close to evolving, he was not going to take chances anymore.
Hissing in both joy and hunger, Apsis uncoiled from Ventus and lunged at the Remoraid, fangs beganing to spark!
Order: Recall Michael, and let Apsis go to town on the Remoraid with Thunder Fang. Ventus is not to keen on catching that fish if it breaks out the big guns so harshly.
=With Azurill (Before the battle, presumably)=
Ventus eyes widened when he ascertained just what was causing the little blue mouse so much discomfort. "Oh dear, little one. Why are you depressed about your state of existence? As far I see, you are quite a fine Azurill, and I see no reason to be ashamed of that! Here little one, has this treat, and tell me what is exactly causing you so much woe." Reaching into his satchel, he pulled out one of his Razz-Bulk Poffins and hands it to the little mouse, awaiting to see its reactions!
Order for this scene: Try to bond with little Azurill and get them to open up a bit. He can understand Pokémon to an extent with his empathy, so long as they are open to him. 4 Insight sure is rad in social, eh?
Thunder Fang
(6)(5)(1)
Ok, it's dead. Ventus and Apsis are racking up quite the kill count.
That's about all Apsis can eat, since she just ate yesterday.
The mob of birds is three strong: A Taillow, a Pidgeotto, and a Spearow.
Respective initiatives: (6) + 4 = 10, (2) + 4 = 6, (5) + 2 = 7
Ralts: (6) +4 = 10 (going after Taillow)
Staryu: (5) + 4 = 9
So that's Taillow, then Ralts, then Staryu, then Spearow, then Pidgeotto.
