It definitely wasn't shiny, that's for sure, speaking of strange Pokemon, I found, and caught a Lotad that looked a little different, it's 'lily pad' was actually metal and made with gears. Never seen anything like that before." Spira also is a little jealous of the shiny that Nathan found "Oh wow, not only did you find a rare Dratini, but it's shiny‽ The closest I got to something like that was a Chansey."
Mizu simply eyes Spira curiously for a moment, then recurls herself around Nathan, minding her own business. Seems she doesn't have any opinions about Spira one way or another at the moment.
"...a Chansey, huh? Well, that's not bad either. You got knocked out of the tournament too, I take it? Heh...at least I'm not the only one..."
Nathan shakes his head, then continues talking to answer Spira's question about Parasect and Lotad. "You are right that Parasect isn't Shiny. And you got a Lotad with gears for a lily pad? Well, it sounds like you caught something similar to what I did. It's what we call a Delta Species. Some people also call them Regional Variants if they've occurred by natural means. Artificial Deltas do exist, but most of those reside in a small, faraway region called Holon, which is where the term was first coined around 10 years ago. Not all of the Holon Deltas are artificial, though.  Generally, a Delta Species is a pokemon whose type is different from the more commonly known variety internationally, and the pokemon's appearance, habitat, and capabilities also differ accordingly. That Alolan Marowak you caught can potentially be considered a Delta species. That Lotad you caught sounds like it's part Steel type, so that'd also make it a Delta Species. And that Parasect I caught? It's a Ghost type. I've gotten my fair share of other Deltas as well. For example, I have a Hippopotas that's part Fire type. Found her living near a large coal vein deep underground. Some Fossil pokemon might also be able to be loosely considered Delta Species, but it's difficult to say for certain with most of them whether they are. We're just not 100% sure most of the time if their Rock typings are naturally occurring or not...though after our recent adventure, I'm inclined to say that the Rock typing seems to be naturally occurring for the best known Fossil pokemon at the very least."
And now Spira's gotten the quick and dirty explanation of Delta Species! Spira's free to ask more questions, of course, be they related to Deltas or otherwise.

Safari Cup - Heart 3 Round 4
Quick Attack 1
(6)(4)(4)(2)(5)(6)(1)(1)
(1)(5)(6) Exeggcute takes 2 dmg and faints.
Heart return Exeggcute and say something to him. "Great battle out there Exeggcute. Rest well. You earn it." Heart release Gligar out of the Pokeball. "Let's see how you handle this Pokemon Sir."
Gligar: (6) Going first.
"Gligar, we must take out that Pidgeot very quick. He know Quick Attack, so that means it will be a battle of speed. One of us will faint first: My Gligar, or your Pidgeot...lets see that.
Lets begin with Slash! 4x! But hold your lethal damage! But in case that Piedgeot begin to spam Quick Attacks, use your own Quick Attacks to counter balance that Speed! Lets see a true battle between sky speed!"
Slash Accuracy: Dex (5) + Fight (4) + Brawl (3) - Actions (4/5/6/7) = 8D6/7D6/6D6/5D6
Damage: Power (3) + STR (4) = 7D6
Effect: High critical chance. Lethal (hold).
In case Pidgeot spam Quick Attacks:
Quick Attack Accuracy: Dex (5) + Fight (4) + Brawl (3) - Actions (4/5/6/7) = 8D6/7D6/6D6/5D6
Damage: Power (2) + STR (4) = 6D6
Effect: Priority 2. Between a clash between priority moves, the one to strike first is the one with high dex with in this case is Heart (With 5 in dex).
Extra note: Maybe a scene with the aerial battle between Pidgeot vs Gligar with Quick Attacks? Not reason in particular, its just for dramatic battle feeling. More or less like the anime.
Safari Cup - Heart 3 Round 5
This battle would definitely take place in the air, with the two Pokemon exchanging blows.
Slash 1
(5)(5)(5)(3)(3)(2) (2)(2) Just shy of a critical
(3)(2)(4)(3) Pidgeot takes 1 dmg 7/8hp
Wing Attack 1
(6)(1)(2)(4)(4)(3) (5) Also almost a critical. These two aerial combatants are not holding back any conceivable effort!
5 Str + 2 power +1 stab + 1 sharp beak = 4d6
(5)(6)(4)(3) Gligar takes 3 dmg 5/8hp -1 pain
Though Pidgeot is much bigger, Gligar has significantly more toughness training.
Slash 2
(5)(5)(2)(3)(5)(3)
(2)(4)(5)(6) Pidgeot takes 3 dmg 4/8hp Pain irrelevant
Wing Attack 2
(4)(2)(4)(2)(4)(1)
(3)(6)(6)9) Gligar takes dmg 3/8hp -2 pain
Slash 3
(5)(6)(1)(1)
(2)(1)(3)(6) Pidgeot takes 1 dmg 3/8hp
The two are very evenly matched. Pidgeot's Keen Eye is giving him a bit of an advantage.
Wing Attack 3
(4)(1)(1)(3)(5) Indeed, that Keen Eye turns a miss into a near miss at the last second.
(6)(6)(2)() Gligar takes 2 dmg 1/8hp -3 pain
I think it's reasonable for Heart to assume a Quick Attack is coming!
Quick Attack 4
(5)(3)
(6)(6)(1) Pidgeot takes 2 dmg 1/8hp
Quick Attack 4 - The Gentleman spends a Will point to ensure it hits! His face is turning beet red, not from anger but from over-excitement.
(4)(1)(3)(5) (6*)
(4)(6)(6) Gligar faints.
That was an extraordinarily close battle! Exeggcute gains 8XP for beating the Lairon.
The Gentleman actually begins crying. He's obviously never gotten this far in any competition before.
His joy is short-lived when Anaster, his silver hair and golden jewelry contrasting, swaggers over to the Gentleman for a handshake. This is the man even Angela didn't want to battle in the Safari Cup.
"Congratulations to Heart for making it into the top 8 in this Safari Cup! We had an unusually large field of entrants this year, so that's a fantastic achievement! Come on up and get your Safari Doll."
Everyone who watched at least one match up to this point gains 8XP - you learned something from watching.
If you stick around to watch the top 4, you'll gain another 8XP.
So, the Top 4 are the Gentleman, Fisherman Harris, Anaster, and Scientist Menlough who studies Poison-types. I'm not going to roll it out because it doesn't affect the party, but judging by their dice pools and teams it would go like this:
4. Gentleman
3. Harris
2. Menlough
1. Anaster
Anaster wins a Dark-type Trapinch with a creepy forked tongue. Getting such a cool Pokemon actually seems to mellow him out a little bit.
Burt was eliminated early in the game for using a disobedient Scyther and too many weak bug-types. He was up against Anaster anyway.
Heart and Nathan are approached by promoters! "Hey you two! Amazing battles! I saw you both trained Delta Pokemon. And Nathan, that pink Dratini! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gene. I'm a scientist for an up-and-coming startup in Stair City. We call ourselves SPARE CHANGE, and our mission is to promote Pokemon diversity at every level! Would you be interested in wearing our T-shirts? We'll give you 14 shirts, printed up with our logo and Delta Parasect and Delta Pikachu. All you have to do is wear them in all your battles for the next 3 months, and we'll cover your entrance fee for the Safari Cup right now. At the end of the 3 months, we'll give you a bonus based on where we are and where you are!"
"I'll also give you my number and you can ask me for more work anytime. We have a small office now in every city with a Gym. Except Arrowroot, if that counts."
He didn't approach Spira because you are standoffish and lost early in the tournament, but if you want to try to broker a deal for yourself you're welcome to make the attempt. Same for Shiva, really.

Heart sigh in the end of the battle. Not a sigh of annoying or something like that. But more like a one with exaustation but a one of satisfation for doing his best to go foward in the battle. He aproach the Gentleman and shake his hand. "Thank you for the battle gentleman. It was a amazing battle. I really wanted to win, but I am satisfied with the results to. If we face next time though you really going to see the real strengh of my team."
Heart then aproach to take the Safari Doll. What is the effects of that Safari Doll
?
After the battle end, he aproach at the crowd to find a certain person. When he see, he wave his hand towards Nathan/. "Heya. How things is going buddy? Mine is okay. Didnt win the Cup but I get a good battle."
Heart also decided to watch the Top 4 of the battle. He might learn something.
Spira does indeed stick around for the finals, mainly to see who gets how far. If possible, he'd like to approach Anaster afterwards and congratulate him on winning it all. On another note, unfortunately Spira don't have enough money to get the salvaged Scimitar Gear back that he used for collateral to enter the cup; oh well. He checks to see which of his Safari catches they'd accept to get it back; he doesn't wanna risk the gear getting back in the wrong hands! Oh, before I forget, Spira checks on his Pumpkaboo Egg to see how close, or far away, it is from hatching

Heart indeed stay to watch the remaining battles so he can understand a bit more battling. He watches the Top 4 to see what those 4 people can do. Heart raise a eyebrown when he see Anaster get a Dark-type Trapinch. "Aww. I really wanted that Trapinch. That kind hurt my pride as a rare Collector, but heh, that Anaster deserved the reward."
When Heart see the guy aproaching them, Heart think for a second and then say. "I think there is no problem with that. I was indeed in need to buy a few more shirts so I accept that. And I think D-Pikachu will might like see me wearing that. He have a...Poison mood to be honest though. But he will be shocked." Say Heart once again cracking a few puns. He grab one of the shirts and ask the guy. "Do you guys have in size G?"

You can deploy a Safari Doll to guarantee escape from a wild Pokemon. It'll attack the doll instead. They also sell for about $1000 to a collector, since you can really only get them in the Cup. This model, anyway.
The Safari Dolls are randomly assigned.Â
Heart gets a Nidorino, one designed to emphasize the rabbitness of the Pokemon rather than its poison.
Spira gets Girafarig.
Nathan gets Dratini. It's long enough to wrap around his neck.
