Heart and Moltres burn through one more thread, but Shiva's knife has no effect at all on the cord even when she optimizes her connection to Earthpower.
The Egg's light is fading a little, so you'll definitely have to give Moltres a nice pyre if you get out of this alive.
Even if Gallade rolls a 1, he's still faster than the Scims thanks to Sticky Web. So the crate goes shut right away!
(2)(1)(1)(6)(2)(5) (1)(5) The crate catches on a Scimitar and runs right over his toes. He hops away, swearing, as the stairs close. You can hear one commanding male voice in the back shouting for a crew of Scims to push it back into its proper position, but the rest of the Scims seem to be newer initiates. They're ignoring your bold statements, since they didn't really expect you to surrender now that they know who it is.
I'm just going to hit the highlights for this fight since it's all about how many Scims get through.

Every Scimitar that makes it through the trapdoor is felled. They don't seem to have particularly powerful Pokemon loaded into their gauntlets - those leaders will come in the next wave.

"Stand aside, idiots," says the commanding voice again.
(3)(5)(4)(1)(6)(5) A tremendous rent instantly appears in the ceiling, laying bare the room! A few slow Scimitars fall in and are picked off by Muddy Water and Razor Leaf.
As the last attacks of the round fade, a hush goes over the Scimitars above.
There's a whir and a spark of electricity, then a face Nathan and Shiva have briefly seen before begins lowering itself into the rent through thin air. It's the same man responsible for the instant swamp from the early days of your adventure. You heard his compatriots refer to him as Cosh.

Scimitar mob: (5) + 3* + 3 = 11
Heart: (2) + 8 = 10
Gustav: (1) + 8 = 9
More Scimitars, leaping in from above, now that they no longer have to mess with the crate. They're leaping straight for trainers and Pokemon, Gauntlets solidifying and expanding for blunt attacks. There are twenty grunts able to attack you right now.
Oscar has run behind Gallade, completely terrified. He's a little amazed at how Nathan is handling this. Keni is still calm and has now gathered up just about all his materials, though a Scimitar has landed near him and grabbed his ankle.
Heart needs most of the round to burn through the final thread. The cord's ability to hold Keni doesn't seem much diminished despite the lost of most of its thickness.
...and immediately, Gallade's
hatred for this man in particular is
incredibly apparent to
everyone. You don't have to be an empath to be able to tell that Gallade
despises that man, possibly far, far more than everyone else in the group. If Shiva's anger is a howling Blizzard, Gallade's ire for this man is a raging Inferno that's been left to smolder and burn until it's consumed almost everything around it and is barely being contained.
"...I had a feeling we would meet again. Â I don't know what the hell you did to my friend to earn his ire, but know this: you will
not get away with mistreating pokemon in horrible, horrible ways. Â You will
not get away with destroying people's lives just to further your own goals. Â You
will face justice. Â You picked the
wrong people and pokemon to pick on, Scimitars."
Gallade gets into a combat ready stance, his blades immediately extended. Â This time, he will
not falter. Â Today,
Justified revenge will be
his.Â
Cosh is his opponent, and he shall show him exactly how much stronger he's become!!
"Gallade, crush his defenses!! Cover us Porygon-Z!"
For Justice!:Â Ultra Solgaleo Fanmade Theme by Emdasche
Gallade's Ability changes to Justified for 20 exp, increasing his Strength by 1 in the face of the man who's done so much that Gallade considers unjust! He. Will not. Hold back!!
Nathan's Brawl also increases to 4 for 18 exp!
ROCK SMASH 1-5
Acc: 14 - 5/6/7/8/9 = 9/8/7/6/5 D6
Dmg: 4 Pow + 5* Str + STAB - 6* + SE? = 4 D6 + 1 damage?
Eff: -1 Def (5)
If he's taken damage, though, he'll use Drain Punch instead! Same accuracy, one less damage die, heals HP instead of lowering Defense! And if using Fighting moves proves ineffective, Gallade has a few (preferably non-Lethal) Night Slashes with Cosh's name on 'em! (Nathan probably won't complain if Gallade were to decide that Lethal force is warranted, however)
More Electrowebs from Porygon-Z! This can hit up to 6 targets now, right?
Electroweb 1-5 (targeting Cosh and as many of the grunts as Porygon-Z can hit!)
Acc: 15 - 1 -Â 5/6/7/8/9 = 9/8/7/6/5 D6
Dmg: 7* + 2 + STAB = 10 D6 base
Eff: -1 Dex to any targets not currently affected by Sticky Web
Reminder: Porygon-Z's Agility gives him an initiative of 15, so he's first in the order, not third!
If targeting Cosh with Electric moves proves ineffective, then Porygon-Z will just focus on taking out as many of the grunts as it can instead of attacking Cosh and the grunts.
Nathan has two Super Potions prepared, ready to use them if either Porygon-Z or Gallade reach -2 Pain (or if they accumulate more than 1 Lethal damage).
And of course, if any attacks that might send characters to Sideways happen, try to dodge them! Evade: 13 base
And if things start to get a little dicey (Heart getting KOed, Lethal attacks are used by the Scims and they might kill someone with them...stuff like that)...then it might be time for Nathan to hit the panic button and use the Red Chain in that case. This is a dire situation, so if it looks like it's going badly, Nathan's ready to pull out the Ace hidden in his sleeve.
And of course, Nathan also has that Finished Cress City Card ready to use if and when Keni is freed!

Heart rage boiled with full hatred. His flames begin to change a bit of colors. Instead of normal yellow flames, those flames was pure crimson, to signify Heart hatred towards those Scimitars. Lost his companion and best friend make Heart lost a bit of his reason, and everything he could care in that moment was to destroy.
Destroy those Scimitars. Destroy that entire base. And turn everything to ashes. To not let bone left.
With a fierce gaze towards that Cosh guy, clearly furious with hatred sparking around his body. And to begin to talk with a more menace voice, full of hatred and a clearly instinct to kill.
"You...You are the one who in charge of this aren't you? You Scimitars are nothing. Less than nothing. You are what is worse in humanity. Stupid fools who justify your evil doing with crimes and sins." Heart hand lift towards the Cosh guy, at the same time his eyes shift once again to purple colors. "I Arc. "Or face a excruciating death, made by the worse of fates."Â

Cosh isn't going to be intimidated since he has you drastically outnumbered and you're on his turf. His gauntlet whirs, recalibrating itself for combat. But before he can react, PorygonZ and Gallade lay into him!
Electroweb 1
(1)(1)(1)(1)(2)(6) (5)(5)(3) It barely clips Cosh, but he grimaces. Some of the Scimitars take less damage than others; you'd guess they have all sorts of different elements loaded up in their Gauntlets.

Rock Smash 1
(5)(6)(4)(5)(4)(2) (6)(4)(2) Gallade's critical attack spins Cosh around in midair, spraying splinters of steel everywhere. Nathan notices they are featherlike.
(4)(5)(5)(4) Cosh is rocked, and he recalibrates again! His gauntlet expands this time, and he falls to the floor heavily (but lands on his feet). His gauntlet is starting to show cracks already.
On his turn, he just retreats back up the steps, out of range, letting his minions fill in his space. He tears the gauntlet from one of them, leaving them gasping on the floor, and you can see him fiddling with it on his off-hand.
Gallade was in melee with him and manages to keep up (using his second action and a few well-placed thrusts on minions), but Porygon is out of range. Both Gallade and Cosh fade in and out of the Smokescreen.
Razor Leaf 1
(3)(6)(1)(1)(6)(6) (5) The Scimitars are able to cover their eyes with their gauntlets, protecting them from a near-crit. Sharp leaves still tear into their clothes and unprotected left hands.
(3)(1)(4) A lot of the goons have resistance to Grass, but just as many are weak against it.

Noire actually uses this first action to catch up to Cosh on the next battlefield, phasing right through walls and minions alike.

Earthpower
(5)(6)(3)(5)(1)(4) (1)(6)(6) That's enough! The final thread fades away as Shiva stabs the Scim holding Keni. Keni stands up and dusts himself off, pacing calmly over to Shiva as she gets out the Unfinished Card. His attendant leaps for him as Heart, Shiva, Keni, and Spira step through into Cress City. Tropius lifts Gustav, but Hida is so heavy that he must be recalled.
Nathan, Oscar, and most of the Pokemon go through the Finished Card. You're close enough to hear Cosh RAGING even louder than Heart and Nathan did. "HOW! Tell me HOW they got through SEVEN of our BEST BLOCKING SPELLS??!?!?!?" He's kicking things and launching attacks and somewhere in there you hear the SCREEE of a bird of prey. Then all you hear is the sounds of Cress City, thinking about waking up as the sun thinks about rising.
The Scimitar who passed through the cards with you stands up and levels his Gauntlet, then sees that he is vastly outnumbered. He runs west...right into a swarm of Magnemite rising from the cobblestones. The swarm forms a thumbs up, then flies east.
All through the shadowy spaces in the city, you see gleaming eyes. The sharp-eyed among you see that these are Zigzagoon, dispersing to report to their master.
Keni shuffles over to Heart and the Moltres Egg, which has gone pale and cool. "Take care, Master Heart. A Baby Pokemon's personality is structured by the emotions of the one carrying the Egg. It's one of the purposes of an Egg, to pass on good thoughts and skills directly from those who love the Baby inside. Therefore, love is the appropriate emotion when holding an Egg, not hate. With a Pokemon such as this, you must be even more careful. Now. Go, and build a pyre, and get this little one into it. Maybe sing him a song or stroke him if you can stand the heat. Go!"
He slumps. "I'm so tired. Is anything left of my home? Or the Pokemon Center, perhaps, in a pinch? And someone will have to run for my tea. They have it at the Mart. Just tell them it's for me." He leans on Tropius.

Nathan has a grim, satisfied smirk on his face as that lone Scim gets captured by Dagny's Magnemite and Tanuki's Zigzagoon go to report what happened to the Gym Leader. "...good riddance."
Nathan goes over to Heart and Keni and puts a hand on Heart's shoulder. "...Heart, I know exactly how you feel. Moreso, even. When Seikamter took Gallade...it was heart wrenching. Don't lose yourself to those feelings like I think you once did, though. They'll get what's coming to them. I made sure of that. And we
will get Rose, Azu, Cottonee, and Toya back. Keni can help us later. For now, listen to Keni. You've got an important responsibility to fulfill, both now and in the future. And there's another task we still have to complete today, too. We can't fully rest yet." (
)
Gallade's dusting himself off, the same grim, satisfied smirk that Nathan has on his face too. Hehehehe. He sure showed Cosh. The Scim didn't even have a chance to do anything before he had to retreat! Hahahahaha!
Yeah, Gallade's laughing in joy and satisfaction right now. He may not have beaten Cosh entirely, but he didn't have to! He proved to that man that he wasn't weak and useless and nothing but an experiment, and that's what matters to him! If they ever cross paths again, he'll be ready!
Of course, he couldn't have done it without Nathan. Or Calam for that matter. And all of the other members of the group in fact. He and Nathan still have some reservations about Shiva, but...they can probably overlook them, rethinking things.
Nathan sends a text to Terra: ()
Quote:Terra, the whole damn base just woke up. It's swarming with Scimitars. We got Keni and my uncle out successfully, and we Teleported back to Cress City. I'll explain how later. Just recall Mr. Mime into his pokeball, grab Angela, and Teleport the heck out of there before they start searching the perimeter for stragglers! I need both of you to meet me and everyone else at the Western Pokemon Center in Cress ASAP.
There. That should catch Terra up.
Nathan looks to Shiva and Spira. "Shiva, could you go get Keni his tea, please? I'll escort him and my Uncle to the Center. Spira, you doing okay? Do you want to help me or Shiva?" ( and )
And to Keni and his uncle: "I'm sorry, but the Scims leveled both of your homes entirely. There's nothing left of them. For now, I think the Pokemon Center is probably the safest place in the immediate area. I'm sorry they dragged you into this, Uncle Oscar. I just hope they don't go for my mom, too...I might have to ask the League if they can place some added security measures until this is all over..."
"It's fine," Keni grins. "I have something more important than my home." He hands a sealed silvery foil pouch to each of you, and leaves the one for Terra in someone's keeping. Each is about the size of a playing card.

And we will get Rose, Azu, Cottonee, and Toya back. Keni can help us later. For now, listen to Keni. You've got an important responsibility to fulfill, both now and in the future. And there's another task we still have to complete today, too. We can't fully rest yet." ()

Heart after summoning the last wave of flames and finally returning to Cress City, Heart fall in his kneels, feeling the stress and tired of summoning Earthpower after Earthpower. "*Pant* *Pant* We....did it...somehow..." Heart say. He was still angered. "Rose..." Heart could still feel the negative emotions flowing though him, almost ready to explode once again...until Keni words was able to sootle his enraged soul. "...its more easy than done Master Keni...I lost one of my friends...my best friend. How can I be able to hold this...anger? This hatred? All I could think back there was to burn everything. To destroy all those Scimitars...I was lost in my own anger..."
When Nathan speak up, and try to make Heart better, he say a few words. "...I know. And we will save them. Not if is the last thing I gonna do...Just...leave me a minute alone...I must build a pyre. Moltres have give me a great mount of his strengh and he need to recover his strengh."
Before anyone could say something more, Heart separated from Nathan hand on his shoulder, and try to find a place alone, where he could build the pyre.

Nathan looks at his, and asks Keni, "...is it okay if I open this now?"
