Using Corsola as a
sea scooter works wonderously well.
You dive down to the pond floor, where instead of a corpse or grumpy trainer, you find a little steel door in a hummock. It's all covered in pondweed. It has a slot on it instead of a keyhole, shaped like the keystone the robed man had.
You can actually hear the guy behind the door, saying "And then they *zzt* paralyzed me!" Then you hear footsteps on steel, retreating.
Firmly attached to the steel door is a weird red trapezoid. Upon some reflection, you realize it may be just like that yellow wedge/cube/thing in the Genesect statue. I'm sure Ventus knows what this means.
Memorizing the exact location where the steel door was, he grabs the red trapezoid firmly with one arms, before motioning to his Corsola to bring him back ashore (the idea is that if Ventus can't pull it out by himself, he can get his Pokémon to help with the task). 'Looks like this villain is more well connected than I thought. And that lock...its looks like a Data Drive for Genesect's blast cannon . How on earth is it here in the first place? No matter; I will just have to investigate the statue in town later, and bring the rest of the group back with me here. Given my luck, I doubt that will be easy, but Reshirim gives as much as they take,' Ventus though, emerging with Ariel near the beach.
Detaching himself from her branches, he pats her on the head in silent thanks, before swiftly returning her. Wait, his satchel was on the shore, so how did he get his Pokeball...? Regardless of his trickery, the researcher shakes himself dry in front on Shiva and Sage, giving both a clear view of his scars and chest, before walking off to his sweater, donning it, then retrieving his phone and satchel. "Turns out the vile fiend escaped into an underwater base of sort. The entrance is bared by some strange sort of mechanism, but I believe I know a way to get it open if we return to town. Or, at the very least, find something connected to it. Before we depart to town, I have to make sure that the Shelmet I brought here has been treated. After all, its the prime reason we are all in this mess now, I suppose."
Order: Try to retrieve Data Drive, Get Shelmet, go back into town, turn over Pinsir and info on the underwater base near medicine man's house to local authorities (not mention the Pinsirite, unless they ask for it specifically), get reward for said Shelmet, then met up with Nathan at statue, then investigate said statue, in that order. Plenty of time for Ven to calm down and contemplate what has transpired today!
At this point, Nathan's getting worried. Ventus hasn't responded to his call yet in any way, and he doesn't know if that's a good or bad sign. He would have thought that a call like that would have warranted a response in mere minutes if it had been missed, but the pokedex hadn't beeped with a notification of a call or text in 15, maybe 20 minutes. Maybe he'd call again...if Ventus didn't pick up this time, something was definitely wrong...
Nathan dials Ventus's number again, and waits for the phone to either be picked up or give him a prompt to leave a message...

When his hand went to his phone, it immedianlty started to vibrate, causing the now stoic Ventus to looked at it curiously, before flipping it open and answering. "Hello? Might I ask who this is? I am sort of busy at the moment, so if its not crucial situation that I need to address, can it possibly wait?"

Nathan lets out a sigh of relief when Ventus picks the phone up.  "Ven?  Oh, thank goodness.  You're okay.  I thought you might have found that Pinsir trainer for a moment there...did you get my message about that?  Are you on your way back to town?  I need to discuss that with you and the others as soon as possible."

Letting out a low, sinister chuckle, Ventus replied : "How did you guess that? I thought Kirlia was the Psychic type, not you Nathan! On a strange whim of Reshirim, it turns out I ran into that vile miscreant before I got the chance to hear your voice message. If I had, I would have been
far less merciful to them and their Pinsir, but I can't change events that have already transpired. Even if I could, I doubt Celebi or Dialga would appreciate me mucking up the timeline like that! As you can most likely infer, we defeated that bastard, but he managed to escaped into a underwater base of sorts near the medicine man's house. Apsis managed to keep their Pinsir hostage, however, and we obtained its Mega Stone. Oh, and before I forgot, I have also managed to recruit a man named Sage in my quest to apprehend that
monster and bring
j u s t i c e upon them. Other than that, I've been doing swell! I'll be heading back to town soon, so don't worry about me now!"
Â
All of this was said in a sing song, silkily tone of voice that the young trainer should
know is Bad News Indeed. Oh dear...

And just like that, those feelings of relief are gone.
"Wait, you actually DID encounter him?! Â Oh no...nobody's hurt, are they? Â And why are you acting so nonchalant about it? Â Ventus, this is serious business right now. Â VERY serious. Â I don't know what you inferred from the message I left, but I left out the details for a reason. Â I have EVERY reason to worry right now."
One moment he sounds worried, the next he sounds...worried in a different way. Â And not just because the Pinsir trainer might have just threatened his companions' lives...

Ventus tried to contain it, but couldn't help the laugh he let out at Nathan's response. "Oh,
Nathan, I am not an unintelligent man. Even if your statement was missing details, I could clearly read between the lines of what you said. That man tried to hurt you, most likely threatened to kill you or your Pokémon, correct? Either that, or he did something extremely unpleseant to you, so it all comes to the same conclusion : That man
harmed you. I'm not going to miss such an important detail now!" he said, humming to himself as he though of the...things he was going to
do to that villain.
"As for my carefree nature, well, I have his Pinsir hostage! If he's able to use Mega Evolution, then he and the insect must share a tight bond together! That means he's going to come after it, eventually. Of course, I'm going to bring it back to town and turn it in to the local authorities, of course, but they don't know that! He's going to come after me, Nathan. Come after me without his best fighter and extremely angry, so he's a going to be
very easy for me to capture. Then, he'll be at my
complete mercy, and will answer every single question that I have. After that...well, that depends on the answers I get! If I don't like them....well, nobody will miss a person like that now~"
Ventus was positively
beaming at such a gruesome statement, conveying his good cheer directly to Nathan. Nothing harms his friends and gets away for it, ohohoho!

This wasn't helping. Â At all. Â Nathan is trying his best to remain calm.
"Ventus, I need you to return to town, NOW.  If the trainer escaped and you have his Pinsir, as well as the mega stone it was holding, they need to be turned in to the League.  Immediately.  If you do ANYTHING to that Pinsir on the way back, or even imply what I think you are, it's not just that trainer who'll need to be worried about the League.  This is no laughing matter, Ventus."
Nathan is VERY serious sounding. Â He's very, VERY worried about Ventus right now...if Ventus was acting as crazy as he sounded, that Pinsir might not be in the safest hands right now...Nathan's trying his best not to lose it himself...

Frowning at the clear distress in Nathan's tone, he lost his grim cheer and tried to calm the boy down. "Now now, Nathan, I said that I would bring the Pinsir back, didn't I? Letting Apsis have them for lunch would be counterproductive to the plan, so please don't get yourself worked up for my sake! I have experience in handling such situations discretely, if my meeting with that vile trainer comes to a...definitive conclusion, so be calm. As for the Mega Stone...I have 'given' it to Sage as a gift for service rendered and to be rendered. You have to ask him for it, as the stone is out of my control now. Once I pick up Shelmet, I'll head straight back to town and meet up with you, if you desire. We'll turn in the insect, tell them about the base, and start planning our future actions from there, ok?"
Tapping his chin a few times, he decided to add another idea, something that might soothe his friend's worry. "Hmm...can your Kirlia detect me from this far out? If he can, it might be possible for you to Teleport to me, then swiftly return to town. It would save both of us time, and minimize the chance that bastard comes back to retrieve his partner in crime."
