What... Oh hell, she didn't notice that, being busy with anythingelse but not that! If she doesn't make sure to explicitely rejoin...
In a slight hassle, she packed the cell away, called her Pokemon by her side (not 'withdraw' them) and ran off to the camping side that was, according to the Guidebook, the the most nearby one. Cottonnee and Fennekin quickly followed, while Azurill in her top hat and the fainted Spearow AND the opened Guidebook were safely in her arms.
... Thank Arceus, Ven was already there... She did not get lost... But... For some reason, she wasn't very happy to see him. Not now. Not until she somewhat arranged the story he told her with her mind...She felt like she doesn't take it very well, or/and will need a little time to feel better about it. However, she quickly brushed that thought and feeling off to prevent him from picking anything about that up, there was no need to raise his worry or suspicion.
Instead, she approached him and the camping site in the what she thought usual way, normally and innocently.
Nathan's Insight: (1)(5)(6)(2)
Joltik comes and eats some of the honey. As a bug type, he is attracted to it, though he prefers electricity. It doesn't seem to change Joltik's mind, but it does give him a chance to reconsider over time.
(3)(1)(2)(6)
Yes...Thinking it over, Joltik decides he will follow this boy and his tasty electric soldier Porygon. Joltik is interested in exploring the world.
Joltik joined Nathan!
Its ability is Compoundeyes. It knows String Shot, Leech life, Spider Web, and Thunder Wave. Happiness 2 Loyalty 2 Disobedience 0.

The aforementioned researcher was currently sitting on stone besides the firepit, carefully examining the Dragonair Statue that was in his grasp. 'What a beautiful work of art...Reshirim knows why someone would leave it out in the middle of nowhere, along with that strange pot. Well, it didn't cost too much effort on my part to obtain it, so finders keepers,' the researcher thought, before picking up feeling of reservation approaching him. Discretly turning his head to view them, he discovered that it was Shiva, and she didn't look too pleased.
Ventus could only frown to himself, having a reasonable assumption as to why she was feeling so morose. 'My black past rarely leaves anyone feeling better off hearing it, other than the most wretched of man. I thought that I had assuanged from her the worst of the backlash, but its apparent that I have not,' he though, ready to go over and comfort her once more. Before he could stand up and comment about the negatively surrounding her, he suddenly felt it disperse from her presence, leaving hardly a trace. Startled, he almost fell of his perch, before he corrected his fall, placing one hand on the ground as he steadied himself.
'Oh my. She cleared her mind of its ill feelings, and has now masked any of their lingering remnants. That's was quite unexpected- it appears that she has picked up a the ability to partially shield her emotions from me. I'm not quite sure how...perhaps her awareness of my own ability and her fae nature provoked such a change? Regardless, its apparent that she doesn't wish for me to Cottenee on to her true feelings, so I will pretend as such for now. Maybe seeing this statue will take her mind of her dower thoughts,' Ventus though, before he turned around to greet the young lass with a radiant smile.
"Ah, you almost gave me cause to tumble with your stealthly approach, but I'm glad to see you well from your own treck in the woods. I managed to find this Dragonair figure in the forest, as well as some odd scripture I copied down. Would you care to have a gander at both, and tell me what you managed to accomplish in the brief time we have been apart?"
Nathan lets out a sigh of relief. Â That wasn't so bad. Â He didn't feel as bad about capturing Joltik now that it was joining him of his own free will. Â "Thank you, Joltik. Â This means a lot to me. Â You look like a strong bug, and I desperately need your help with taking on types Electric is good against. Â I'll do my best to help you grow as strong as possible." Â Nathan cracks open a basic Pokeball to serve as Joltik's new home. Â
"There is one problem, though...now I have seven pokemon...hmmm....who gets magically beamed into the PC? Â We're still a little ways from Corsage..."
Nathan has to think this over for a moment...he could send Swiftfire there since immediate care at the Center would be beneficial to her...but they're not out of the forest quite yet. Â He could send Joltik...but he wanted to start getting to know the bug a little better right now...he didn't want to separate the combee either, and Staryu could still be useful due to all the fire types...which leaves...Nathan looks over at Porygon, who's looking a little drained from earlier.
"Hey, Porygon, you want to go to the PC for a little while so you can recover? Â Thanks for helping with that. Â Here, you can have some honey too. Â I know that can't have been a pleasant experience for you."
Porygon consumes the honey...somehow. Â While it doesn't really need to eat, being an artificial pokemon, food is just another form of energy in the end. Â Porygon nods in confirmation that the suggested course of action is fine.
"Alright, I'll send you to the PC and check up on how you're doing later when we reach Corsage.  Once again, thanks for all your help today.  You did a spectacular job."  Nathan recalls Porygon, then presents the open pokeball to the little bug.  "Alright, little guy.  We need to register you to this pokeball.  That okay with you?"  When the bug doesn't object, Nathan taps it on the elespider's back.  The pokeball clicks shut, and then all 7 of Nathan's pokeballs start flashing with a blue light!  "Yeah, yeah, I know...welp, see ya in Corsage, Porygon..."  Nathan taps the button on Porygon's pokeball, and the light flashes green in confirmation.  The lights go dim on all of the buttons afterwards.  "Welp, better not lose any of the pokeballs I'm carrying around...alright, time to find the others and introduce them to my new friend...I hope Shiva doesn't mind having a tiny little spider pokemon around..."  Nathan heads off in the direction of the others, with Kirlia close behind.  Kirlia's happy the encouter with Joltik went so well!  Now they have another friend!  It's another bug...but eh.  As long as the yellow spider didn't cause any trouble, he'd be fine with it.  How much trouble could a 4 inch tall spider be, after all?
(Time to meet back up with Ventus and Shiva! Â Nathan's going to be in a decent mood when he gets back since the battle and Joltik encounter went so well. Â , feel free to start the conversation off as Nathan approaches.)
(Damn, he did pick up her emotions nevertheless...)
Oh... Did she suprise Ven with her 'stealthy' approach? Was not what she expected, given his empathy. She thought that she was somewhat beaming with emotions - before she packed those that would only cause him to worry away.
Instead, Shiva placed herself next to him, before taking a few deep breaths. Finally... back all well and safe...
Wait a moment... "Me? Oh... I was stumbleing over a strange Pokemon... Looks a little like a modified Roggenrola. Can't show it to you, it's on the PC. But once Nathan returns alongside a Pokedex, I might. And... Also found this Spearow along the way. It was unconscious and drenched in water." At this point, a hint of wrath arouse in her - who would leave an innocent Pokemon behind in such a state?! "Couldn't... just leave it there."
Â
"Wait, you found a Dragonair figure in the forest? Weird... But it surely is quite beautiful." Somehow, she felt like this figurine matches him perfectly - not only bevause he originates from Opelucid City! What a wonderful catch he made there~ She could only return his smile.
(He's an empath, my darling. Unless you have your character school her emotions from at least 30 meters away from him, he's going to pick up any strong emotion from them!)
As a Pokémon researcher and sociologist, Ven was extremely intrigued about the modified Roggenrola. "How bizarre! I don't believe I heard of such an evolutionary shift concerning the Roggenrolan in Unova, so its either a new mutation that is specific to this region, or its some other species of Pokémon that closely resemble it. If its the former, its an unpresdent evolutionary shift that needs to be documents straight away, but if its the later its still important to gather detail about the mimic. Either way, this is certainly something worth investigating in greater detail!" the researcher said, clearly giddy at the chance of examing this look alike Rock Pokémon.
Discovering new species in Pokémon, or documenting/studying changes in old ones was basically a dream to every aspiring researcher or biologist, so Shiva's news greatly excited Ventus. Her interset in the statue further fueled his cheer, but her discovery of the Spearow he fought, and the spike of anger at the condition he left it in, however, put a damper on his good mood quickly. "...If you are feeling wrathful about that bird's condition, than I'm afraid you have me to blame for that. It attacked me with Sticks while I was exploring the area, causing me to hastly summon Ariel to defend myself. She promptly knocked it out in a matter of minutes, leaving it soaked and knocked out," he said, looking stoic as he described the situation he had with the Spearow.
"I decided that instead of capturing and feeding it to Apsis later, I would leave it to nature to decide its fate, as I didn't want to waste my Pokeballs on a creature I had no interest in adding to my party. Call me cruel for my actions, but considering it attacked me first and I was only defending myself, I say that I was being rather merciful by just leaving alone afterwards. I even gave it a knife to defend itself with after I took its leeks as plunder, so it was not totally without hope against wild Pokémon, if it happened to not be molested while knocked out."
Silence took firm hold of the conversation between them, filling the atmosphere between them with brooding tension. Just as it was threatening to swallow them both, Nathan appeared at camp, practically prancing over to where he and Shiva were sitting at. Sending a silent prayer to Reshirim for this convineit distraction, he turned away from the young lass to address him, curious about the good mood he was in. "Well now, it's apparent that someone has a little more positivity energizing them than normal! Tell me, what have you been embroiled in that has caused you to develop such good cheer? I also have some intriguing news to share of my own concerning old relics, but I want to hear what you say first!"
(Well, things could get...interesting between Shiva and Ventus now. They never really had a fight before, but could this be the start of a one?)
... ... ... Wait... That knife...was his call? When did he get hold of such a thing... And why...
That was the only thing Shiva could think of, before Nathan appeared and ended her trail of thought. For good, probably. Well... now she had another thing to mull over.
(I wouldn't say Nathan is 'prancing.' He's just feeling a little more lighthearted than before, is all.)
"Oh? Old relics, you say? Well, now you've piqued my curiosity. If I must tell you about what I've been doing first though...
"Anyways, my battle with the twins went rather well for the most part. They had a quad element core that was difficult to break, but they weren't exactly fully prepared for much that laid outside of that same core of fire, water, grass, and electric. Kirlia and Porygon wrecked house, and Princess did a great job despite being matched up with a Blitzle. Porygon also came close to fainting due to an unlucky burn, but I patched that up quickly before it became a problem. What WAS a problem was my team composition...that Mega Pinsir and that Blitzle kinda showed me just how vulnerable my pokemon are to flying and electric types, so..."
Nathan brings out Joltik!
"...I did a little searching for a Joltik to try and remedy that issue a little. Little guy's willing to travel with us. Still trying to think of a nickname for him. You two are from Unova, right? Got any ideas?"
He seems to have completely missed the tension in the air. Kirlia hasn't though.
Noticing Kirlia giving him an odd look, he broadcasted an emotional/thought signal that basically said 'Tension between me and Shiva. Personal matters; please don't interfere.' With that message pulsed, he mulled over what Nathan told him, before his attension turned towards the electic arachnid. "So this is the reason you are so charged with happiness. Hmm, I thought you prefer not to name your Pokémon, but if you want my suggestion I say either Barachiel or Power Grid. Barachiel means 'blessed by god', and is commonly known as the Angel of Lightening, so it would be a rather apt name. Grid, though, fits it more thematically, as its nature of laying charge webs is similar in nature to man made electrical networks," Ventus replied, holding his hand in front of the tiny charged bug.
It scurried across his hand and onto his sweater, draining it of any residual static charge that build up in it, before it jumped off and returned to their master's side. Ven felt a bit odd now that his tweed has lost its characteristic buzz, but he soon snapped out of it as he remember an important detail about Joltick's evolutionary line. His expression shifted to a more serious one as he launched into a brief lecture about the species.
"Nathan, as a native Unovain Pokémon Reseacher, I'm the most aware person of this group when it comes to Pokémon originating from my home region. I believe that its common knowledge at this point that the Joltik line feed on electricity to sustain their levels of power, but that is not all they eat. Both it and its evolution, Galvantula, are known insectivores, trapping any Pokémon that falls within their web and consuming them. Its also not unheard of for them to eat small Flying and mammalian Pokémon when the opportunity presents itself. I'm informing you of this so that you are prepared to meet their needs properly, if you are able, as they deserve to be stick to their natural diet as closely as possible. Otherwise, I would be more than willing to go out hunting with it, so that you little spider needs are meet."
Once his short speech was done, he picked up the Dragonair Statue that was hidden behind him, pulled out his journal and flipped to the page where he recorded the text from the pot. "I found this ceramic statue in the woods, along with this strange clue of sorts. I don't know the relationship between the two things have, if any, but I am fairly certain that the text I found is alluding to something found within this region. Since you are well educated Cheshire's ancient past, would you have any ideas as to either of these things origins?"
Nathan raises an eyebrow at Ventus's comment on the spiders' eating habits. "Yeah, I'll keep that in mind...anyways, I prefer not to nickname rare pokemon, where the nickname is less needed to distinguish one member of the species from another. Joltik aren't the most common of pokemon, but they're not incredibly rare, either. Creshire might not have the impressive electrically charged caves that Unova has, but this forest is positively filled with bugs. I doubt he's the only Joltik here, particularly since we seem to be coming up on an area that's got some electrical stuff in it. Hmmm...either of those nicknames could work...I think Grid will do just fine. Kinda hard to be an 'Angel of Lightning' if you can't call it down yourself yet. I'm sure he'll pick up using Electro Web fairly quickly, though."
When Ventus pulls out the notes and the statue, Nathan takes a good, long look at them.
"This statue...it looks positively ancient...where'd you find it? And this writing...'Ere man desc_nds to layer fo_r, A King must s_ow the King's own door...'I think filling in the blanks is actually fairly easy, here..." Nathan pulls out a pencil and fills in the blanks with it using his best guess.
'Ere man descends to layer four
A King must show the King's own door.'
"That's an interesting text...again, where'd you find it? That's not something you typically find just laying around."
