Oh great...ghost AND steel. That wasn't a good matchup for either of their pokemon. Looks like it was time to get crafty...
"Kirlia, use Double Team, followed by Draining Kiss on Sawk! If honedge attacks you on following turns, evade and use Draining Kiss! If not, use Draining Kiss twice!"
Nathan then turns to Ventus. "Ven, we're counting on you and Lucifer for this one. That Honedge is going to be tough for us to defeat without you."

Ghost Pokemon love duskglass! It's a bit like a Dusk Stone, but doesn't have nearly as much energy, so Pokemon can't evolve with it. But sometimes it can help them learn new abilities faster."
"Ah... Ghost Types then..." Shiva didn't know what, but the first thing that came into her mind hearing about the lore of the gifted shard as Mismagius. It's a ghostly witch, after all... And extremely rare and hard to handle. Same goes for Chandelure, which was her second thougth and actually the only Ghost Type she enjoyed - but these living(?) chandeliers were very dangerous to be around and even more to own. There were reports of them not stopping from burning their Master's soul for energy when they havn't been raised and bonded with properly.
"Well, thank you. If that's the case, I will gladly hold it close to me." A boost in natural energy is greatly appreciated, after all.
Next... Speaking of charms... "Listen, dear Lady... There's another thing I've been wondering about since I came here. It's this...insomnia dwelling in town... Bad dreams lurke here. Even me, who never had nightmares before, struggled with this issue last night. On top of that, once I woke up and took a look at my Dream Catcher supposed to protect me from bad dreams, I not only found the thread in a total disarray - but also this."
She then brought out the tuft of black fur she's been wearing as a necklace hidden away under her shirt since. "Could you take a look at it and give me your thoughts? I cannot make a sense of it to me, beside I feel some importance for it... " Oh, and your tea is splendid. I gladly have another cup. You engage in fortune-telling with tealeaves as well?"
(Last post, I'll have to head to bed then. Given Ven and Nathan the space to finish their Doublebattle. Ventus is likely to run into me since I'm staying a little longer than expected at the Fortune Hunter's place. Oh, and how does Cottonee enjoy the place she currently is at with her Master? C: )
Noticing that the Martial Artist had a Honedge caught the researcher's attension rather quickly. "Oh, so you have the a Honedge under your tutelage; how fascinating! I thought they only appeared in the Kalos region, so where did you happen to find you esteamed partner?" Ventus said, showing clear interest in the ghostly blade. Two of his favorite types, combined into one Pokémon? Color him intrigued indeed... At Nathan comment, he gave them a firm nod. Together they stand, and together they will fall.
Lucifer, not distracted by the Honedge in any capacity, let out an almost ear splitting Screech at the Sawk he was facing, before sending a buffet of wind at them! Master can talk to the funny looking man all he wants, but they are interested in only fighting his opponents right now!
Order: Have Lucifer use Screech on Sawk, then Gust on it as well. While it may be an overly curious bugger, this draconic bat is anything but stupid, and knows how to press his type advantage to its fullest!
Moves
Screech
Accuracy: DEX (2) + Fight (2) + Channel (2) - Consec. Action (2) = Pool 4
Effect: Decrease Defense of target by 2
Gust
Accuracy: Pool 3 (The Previous Pool - 1, due to being second action)
Damage: STR (2) + 2 + STAB (1) + Super Effective Hit (Auto 1 damage added to Gust attacks against this target)
Effect: None that I know off!
Cottonee likes the Fortune Hunter a lot. Seems she is a fellow carefree spirit, and carefree at gardening, too. Cottonee absorbs some of the tea into her fluff and slowly it disappears into her body.
"No, lass, I don't do tea readings, I just love to drink the stuff! And I like to collect exotic teas, as you might imagine."
"As for the nightmares, I experience them too! I wasn't sure if others were having these strange dreams. I feel reluctant to bring it up - I wouldn't want to be thought mad!"
She fidgets with a big obsidian tiki head plucked from her garden.
"I would never have brought it up unless you had! Could this be the fur of whatever dreadful creature I hear slavering away in my dreams of late? Are they brazenly entering reality now? It's getting worse, I fear. I wonder...one of my clients missed his meetup with me, and I found out he has fallen catatonic. Is he locked in some eternal nightmare?"
Sensei Round 1

Dragonstrike, will you check if the move text for Bide has been updated? I'm wondering how it works with multiple actions, and whether it works like in the games. I'm going to assume it does for now.
Bide
3 Dex + 3 Fight + 2 Brawl = 8 dice
(2)(1)(5)(2)(1)(6)(3)(3)
"What an awesome battle! An entire round of moves without anyone making a strike! This is the way of Zen! Ohhh, and such effective moves! Now we shall see whose strategy pays off."
Gust

5 dice, -1* vit = 4d6+1
(5)(6)(6)(2) Sawk takes 4 damage. 3/7hp remain. -2 pain.

(5)(1)(4)(4) Sawk is KO'd. He bows gracefully and sinks to the ground with care.
"I've trained my Pokemon even in the art of defeat. Well played, Mr. Nathan, Mr. Ventus."
Sensei Round 2
Recognizing that Honedge successfully pulled off a Sword Dance, Ventus immedianlty decided to change his Niobat course of action. "Lucifer, focus on using Screech on the Honedge, and attempt to dodge any attack inbound if they are aiming for you! Then focus on savaging it with Bite there after! Please stay safe my little devil!" This fight could turn out quite poorly, if that spectal weapon gets a good hit on either Kirlia or Lucifer...
Ventus then turns his head towards Nathan, and whispers to them : "My friend, I would recommend you avoid using Kirlia's natural powers against the foe, and just command them to Strike it over and over. That move has no type penalty, so it so bypass the naturally tough defenses of the Honedge."
Order: Lucifer will focus his efforts on landing a Screech on the Honedge, and will try to dodge any attacks while it does so. Then, it will proceed to use Bite twice a round on the sword, until it either faint or the drake falls to 1 HP (Ven will use his last potion on them then).
Move
Bite
Accuracy: DEX (2) + Fight (2) + Brawl (2) - Consec. Action (2/3) = Pool 4 and Pool 3 for each attack.
Damage: STR (2)Â + 2 + Super Effective Hit (Auto 1 Damage on target)
Effect: *Flitch 3*
"This isn't the first time I've faced a Ghost my pokemon would struggle to harm with its attacks, Ven. You heard him though, Kirlia! If it attacks you, evade and Strike! Otherwise , Strike twice!
Sensei Round 2[/u]
Screech
(5)(6)(3)(4)
Honedge's defense down to 1*!
Aerial Ace on Lucifer
(1)(1)(4)(1) - This is actually really interesting. I think Lucifer's evasion automatically succeeds (though it does spend his second action).
Evade
Strike
3 Dex + 2 Fight +1 Brawl -2 actions = 4 dice
(3)(5)(3)(2) Hit!
2 Str +1 Power -1* vit = 2 dice
(3)(6) Honedge takes 1 dmg 5/6hp.
Aerial Ace on Lucifer
(3)(4)(6)
(4)(5)(2)(3)(1) Lucifer takes 2 damage. 2/5hp with his earlier hit.
Strike
(4)(3)(3)
(1)(1) Honedge goes ethereal and allows Kirlia's well placed strike to pass right through.
Sensei Round 3[/u]
Bite
(3)(5)(5)(3) Hit
3d6+1 after screech
(6)(2)(5) +1 Honedge takes 3 damage. 2/6hp.
Flinch: (4)(6)(2) Honedge flinches!
Sensei holds out his sai, and Honedge ghosts over it. Together, they perform a lovely, flamboyant, sweeping cut. "Good work, Honedge. These two know what they are doing! Here's your prize money, Mr. Nathan. Mr. Ventus, a pleasure doing battle with you!"
He bows.
"If you are in need of an invigorating brew of my own design, my dojo is right over there. No, it is not coffee, it is a strong herbal drink, full of protein. The sailors love it. We also have martial games every Friday, if you are in town for a while."

Ventus returns the Martial Artist performance with a piroting dance of his own, before smoothly transitioning into a bow himself. Looks like the battle re-invigorated the researcher's ailing spirit! "The battle would not have been so splendid, if it were not for your own showing in it. I thank you for the opportunity for such a great fight, sensei. If you are offering, I will happily take that drink you offered, and if you are willing to share its recipie to me, I can tell you all about the Honedge line of Pokémon! I am a Pokémon researcher, and one with a interest in Ghost and Steel types at that, so my insight in this matter is not lacking."
Order: Go have a nice herbal drink with the Martial Artist, and try to trade information with them about Honedge and his special drink! I like this character,
, and I want to get to know them a little more
Nathan lets out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. "Phew...see, Ven? No problems. I talked with Kirlia last night, so let's not worry about that any more if we don't have to."
He turns to face the Sensei. "Thank you for the battle, sir. It's exactly what we needed. And I'll gladly take you up on that offer of an herbal drink. Don't knock it until you've tried it, right? Besides, your dojo looks like a good place to train anyways. Would you mind if some of my pokemon got some practice in? Lots of moves and techniques they need to get down, one by one."
(Also, we need that sweet, sweet exp from winning this battle, !)
