Ventus and Heart are performing a little archaeology in the peat! Ventus utilizes the help of his Pokemon, while Heart's strategy is just to trip over something hard! Upon examining the item, Heart feels very lucky he's wearing shoes. It looks like
Heart found a Poison Barb.
Raphael alights on what seems to be a stick poking up out of the marsh. He warbles happily. Ventus realizes the 'stick' is manmade, and hauls it up! It's a beautiful (if muddy) shamisen, made of mahogany and animal skin.
From the carvings of Swinub and Toxicroak on the instrument, he thinks it might be a native instrument from at least a few hundred years ago. This is worth $3000 in the right hands. And...wait a minute...one of those carvings looks just like Lilith!
At alternating times, each of the Pokemon earns a training roll. All will be Canalize.
Swiftfire: (5)(2)(4)(4)(1)(3)(3)(1)(5)(4) - 4 successes.
Masq: (3)(3)(6)(3)(3)(2)(3)(2)(6)(2) - 2 successes.
Kirlia: (2)(2)(2)(4)(3)(5)(3)(1)(1)(6)(5) - 3 successes with the pearl.
Nathan finds that training in the swamp is more difficult, but potentially very rewarding!
"Huh. I would like that myself did not send Caesar to the PC. This Poison bard would help a lot with him..." (Quick description about poison bard Iron? Pokerole effect. How much it increases the Poison type moves?)."
The Poison Barb is actually a core item. It adds 1 dice of damage to Poison moves, and 1 training dice to appropriate training rolls.
It can be fitted over a Pokemon's existing weapons to increase their toxicity.

While Ventus didn't know nearly as much about ancient history/lore as his erstwhile companion Nathan, even he was aware of the monumental discovery he and his beloved archangel had recovered from the swamp, and couldn't help the excited grin that graced his face upon the epic find! "Excellent job in finding this beautiful, magnificent, an ancient gitar (He's comparing it to what he knows) my child! Once we get this appraised and find the right buyer for this, we'll have made significant progress in releasing Kingdra from the Shelter, and perhaps have enough left over for a celebratory feast if we earn even more Poke along the way! This is simply-wait a minute, is that a carving of Lilith?" the excited researcher said to Raphael, giving them a vigorous and affectionate head rub for their help, earning him a equally joyful chirp/warble from them, until he finally notices the carving of his new birdpent family member.
Intensely curious about this, as this meant her species has been endemic in the area for what could have been centuries or
millinium, the empath quietly released Lilith from her Pokeball, who quickly took her right perch on his shoulder in almost an instant. She soon took notice of the weird item in his hand and tilted her head at it curiously as he presented it to her (particular the section that held the picture of her/her species) for their inspection. "Lilith, have you or your kind have contact with the indigenous people of this swamp? This picture leads me to suspect that you have, but I want you input of this subject matter, my sister, as I wish not to cast any hasty judgement when you are involved, no matter how tangently!"
The researcher also
abscent mindly strummed the instrument in a simple tune he had memorized from his childhood carefully, both to see if it still works after all this time in the swamp AND to hear what it sound like if it does. He also was curious if the music might attract other Pokémon to his location, or whether his family member liked the music. Hmm....
(Ready to move on to the next encounter whenever you are, Iron!)

What a lucky day... Now that the haze has somewhat cleared (has it?), Shiva very carefully dared to leave the main path a little to search for more precious roots to dig up and later ponder about what to do with it. Just in case, she also asked to have Sarah close to her again - granted. Poochyena remains on her shoulder as well, just because it's comfortable for Master and Pokemon.
The Ponyta didn't seem to make any signs of caring when somewhere ahead, a cry for help arrived the small group, causing Yena to stare into that direction and Shiva stop in the middle of packing her finds away... It doesn't seem very close, but the direction was clear according to her butterwolfly. None of the others was around though... None probably cared... It seems like she was... Hell, she'd bite herself
hard if she'd end up regreting having done nothing. She had no idea whether she'd be some sort of help at all, but...
Doesn't matter, now that it's decided whether she liked it or not, she'd need to take quick actions. "Yena, you cling to the fabric of my cloak as tightly as possible. You, Sarah... Well, please bring us to the source of the cry as fast as possible. You don't have to care, but I rely on your speed now -
if you know Flame Charge, please also use that along the way. Alright?"
----------------
Mechanics:
With Ponyta being fine, let's ride to the source of the cry, seeing what may await us...
The gitar sounds terrible. It needs a lot of polishing, probably restringing, and tuning. None of which negatively impact its value, since strings break all the time.
When you query Lilith, she scoffs
¬‿¬
as if to say "If you can call it contact."
Ponyta Flame Charges across the fen, sometimes jumping over entangling tree roots.
Insight + Survival -2
(3)(4)(5)(4) You suddenly rein in your mount. Ahead you spot a big patch of quicksand!
10 bodylengths away is a patch of higher ground, held in place by more spruce roots, oozing sap. Another 5 body lengths and you spot a struggling male figure, sinking deeper and deeper into the widest part of the sand! He's already up to his arms, which are thrashing about. "Help! Ma'am, please, help me!"
After Heart find the Poison barb he became a little there was something more around here so he decided to take a look to see if he can find something else.
Action: Took the Held Item in the encounter 9. Lets see what we can find.

Grimacing at the truly horrendous noise coming from the ancient instrument, Ventus quickly ceased playing it with a distasteful cluck of his tongue. "Tsk. Well, I'm certainly going to spend some time and Poke getting this gitar fully restored ('While not damaging it vaule, of course'), since I doubt anybody interested wants a poorly working musical instrument a part of their collection. Oh well...."
His sister's contemptuous and dismissive reaction to her depiction earned her a curious and somewhat worried glance from him, as that could be interpreted any number of ways. "Hmm, I take it your kind doesn't hold the natives in the Hog Potateo Swamp in high regard, if I am assume correctly? If I may be so bold and polite to ask, why do you hold such a callinous view of them, my sister?"
