Stowing the Honey into his satchel (after wipping away any sticky spots), he noticed that Swiftfire attempt to solidfy the honey were going rather poorly. Scratching his head, he tried to brainstorm some more ways they could cross the honey pit. 'Hmm, what to do? Well, Geodude could try to dig us a way under the pool of honey, but there is a chance we would drowned if the tunnel collaspes. I don't savor the idea of death by sugary embalming, so that plan is out. Nathan could potentially jump the gap with Swiftfire, but that would leave us stranded over her. Well, if his Ralts can use teleport, he could make it across the gap with it, the have the little guy teleport us across.'
'We could also try climbing the walls around the pool of honey, but there is a chance we might get stuck or fall into the pool. It seems Teleporting might be our only solution.' The researcher turned towards Nathan, and pointed at him and Swiftfire. "Do you think its possible for Swiftfire to leap across this pool? If it can, you could have Ralts make a round trip teleportation, bringing us to your location. Scaling the walls is also an option, but their is the risk of being trapped on them, or slipping and falling into the pool," Ventus said, looking a bit worried about their situation at the moment. "We could also double back and try the other path, but option is another barrel full of Mankies to deal with."
"Ralts doesn't even know Teleport currently. That might be a tad too risky if he doesn't nail it quickly should we want to do that. And we'd be stuck there with nowhere to run if we ran into trouble. Not to mention that's not an easy move to teach. It hardly seems like a good time to try that. And I don't think any of us have a good way to get around that pool of honey...an ice type would be good, but the only ice trainer here is in another part of this maze. I think we might have to just turn around and try the other direction since we don't know how deep that pool is..."
Nathan's also rather disturbed by what Ventus is letting his Ekans do...this is his first time hearing Ventus give that order, after all...in fact...
"Ventus, are you SURE letting your Ekans eat those bugs is a good idea? We're in the middle of their hive after all, and the walls are practically made out of those things. If the Vespiqueen that's in charge of this hive finds out what you let your snake do to her workers..." Nathan doesn't want to say or think about what might happen if she does, and he's clearly starting to get a little nervous about the situation if Ventus is going to just start killing off these bees...the weezing in the middle of an uninhabitable swamp was one thing. A large and angry beehive in the middle of a town with tons of visitors and residents was another.
"*Sigh* I was afraid that might be a possibility. I suppose we must try the other path, and hope that it takes us to our target, or past the pool of honey, at the very least," Ventus replied, a little disappoint that his plans were shot down. 'Well, better they be shot down then attempted, only to fail horribly. Honey Embalation...*Shudders*' That would be a horrible way to die...or horribly embarashing if they just end up stuck there until someone rescued them.
Just as he was about ready to turn around and go back to the intersection, he remembered the bottle of honey he collected. He turned towards Nathan and told him "If you have any empty potion bottles on hand, you might want to try and aquire some Honey for yourself. If nothing else, it greatly helps attracting wild Pokémon.'

"Well, now that you mention it, I do still have two empty potion bottles I haven't had a chance to trash yet...guess it's not something I've been thinking about, lately, what with everything that's been going on lately..."Â
Nathan goes over to the pool of honey to collect some before they leave the area.  He's still wary about the ekans though.  The last thing they should be doing is causing the hive to go into a panic...
Swiftfire is disappointed that her Ember wasn't solidifying the honey. She keeps blasting it repeatedly trying to get it to work. Nathan ends up right next to her while collecting Honey. "You can stop now, girl. There's too much of it there to solidify it. I'm sure you'll get to singe some more bugs, though." She stops using Ember, and looks a bit...sad? Defeated? It's a little hard to tell, to be honest...but she perks up a little at the mention of more bugs. Maybe the next group would be more fun than this one was.

When Nathan spoke up about his concerns of Apsis' eating habits, Ventus smile left his face, and he suddenly became silent. After Nathan had gotten his Honey and told Swiftfire to cease their attempts to make a nice honey glaze, the researcher finally decided to address the young trainer. "Nathan...I promised Apsis that she would be rewarded for her efforts, and I can't break it to her. She would most likely ignore me anyway; she is a predator at heart, so killing and eating her fainted 'prey' is completely natural. I don't believe I have the right to radically change her lifestyle by ordering her to stop comes to instinct, besides teaching her not to eat other people's Pokemon," Ventus said, explaining his point of view to Nathan. He look uncharacteristically serious while talking, but his tone of voice was not hostile. It actually sounded a bit rueful, as if the scientist himself didn't entirely like the idea of predation.
"Besides, by engaging and defeating these sentries, we have already put the whole hive on alert for our presence. Swiftfire casting Ember around erratically has most likely cause the hive to begin closing in on us , so its a moot at this point in stop the Vespiqueen and her Combee from considering us a threat," Ventus continued, looking a bit nervous at that realization. Perhaps he should have Apsis wrap up her feast, so they could leave immedianlty...before its too late.

Nathan is doing that staring thing again. Â He's not happy with that answer.
"They weren't sentries. Â They were workers that were minding their own business when we walked into the room. Â And KOing them is one thing. Â KILLING them is another. Â The hive is going to be more worked up than if you had just left them alone. Â Natural or not, that might have put us and the town in more danger than needed. Â Reasoning with the queen won't happen if we are viewed not just as intruders, but as ones with an intent to KILL for no apparent reason. Â I pray your decision doesn't bring unneeded harm to us all. Â Come on, Swiftfire. Â We're probably gonna have to do some cleanup..."
Nathan practically storms off, angry at Ventus for yet another reason: his lack of thought about the consequences.  And he's also incredibly nervous, too.  He's seen Ventus just casually let his snake pokemon kill a few times now, and now it's likely to blow up in their faces because of it...and it also hints about what Ventus might have done back in the Deyo Flower meadow...Nathan shudders at the thought, and just wants to get away from Ventus right now.  Does he really want to be associated with a trainer who kills with barely a second thought, and who has threatened him once before?
Swiftfire is uneasy too. Â The buzzing in the hive was getting more...intense. Â Nathan's current emotional state wasn't helping. In fact, if one looked closely enough, they might even be able to see him physically shaking in fear and rage...
Letting out a long, frustrated sigh at Nathan's rant and depature, he chased after Nathan, quickly overtaking his path and baring his way. The researcher returned the glare he'd been given, extremely displeased with his immaturity and current stupidity. "Regardless of whether we killed them or not, Nathan, we still engaged in a viscous battle with her Combee, and totally neutralized them. If she doesn't consider us hostile threats now... well then, she must abnormal, because Vespiqueen are not known for there merciful nature. Quite the opposite in fact," Ventus ground out to him, now a bit testy from not only the Nathan overeation, but him breaking their earlier promise of cooperating together, regardless of history.
"You said that you'd were willing to work with me, set aside our concerns and issues with one another, but now you turn and run at when you hear ideas that disagree with your views? Not only is that being close minded, its moronic as well given our surrounding! Storming off alone deeper into their hive, without back up or support? That's a death wish waiting to be granted, and I know your intelligent enough to see this is true!" Ventus growled at him, punctuating word with an angry gesture. He was not going to let this boy's hotheadness lead to tragedy, even if it made things worse!
"As for you earlier point, the Vespiqueen and her swarm already consider us a threat, if she was willing to send her bees in an attempt to stop us. If they defeated all our Pokémon, who do you think they would target next? They would deal with us as well, if we couldn't get out fast enough! Letting my Apsis eat a few of her hive is not liable to make thing worse for us, if they were going to attack us anyway!" Ventus yelled, extremely displeased his naivity. Did he think that they were going to get out of this unmolested, after being attack? Pinching his noise ins frustration, he gathered his anger and put it away for now. He needed to be calm for what he said next. "Like it or not, we all need to work together, Nathan. Despise or fear me for my disregard of a wild Pokémon's life, but we have to stick together if we want to have a chance at success." Ventus crossed his arms in front of the young trainer, waiting an response.

Nathan is on the verge of yelling. Â He is NOT in the mood for this. Â "And those were NOT sentries! Â They were worker bees, tending the honey, defending it from unexpected intruders! Â We hadn't seen any combee besides the ones in the walls before then! Â What do you think they're going to do in response to killing workers? Â Killing them is plenty reason for more aggression than what we would have otherwise encountered! Â I'm not just thinking about our situation! Â I'm thinking about the town's, as well as the pokemons'! Â By letting your snake eat them, you've deprived this hive of some of its workers for when we eventually leave. Â You've likely sent alarms ringing throughout the hive for even MORE combee to show up, and they'll likely be even MORE aggressive! Â They might start attacking anyone who comes near the hive, not just us, and may even continue to do so even if we were to leave! Â It's actions like that which leave bad impressions on pokemon, and cause them to dislike humanity!"
Nathan pauses for a moment, fuming.  Swiftfire is looking rather scared now.  Whether it's due to Nathan's explosion of emotion or the increased volume of the buzzing is unclear.  Nathan takes a breath, calming down only slightly, before continuing.
"I've read a lot about the history of all kinds of regions and trainers.  And while there are plenty of good apples, there's equally as many bad ones.  And the bad ones ALWAYS seem to blot out the good ones.  Pokemon mistrust people, people mistrust each other...it's all one big, vicious cycle, perpetuated by every single event that occurs, especially by the ones that end badly, even if they were well intentioned.  I don't intend to walk away from this hive, nor the group, but know that I'm not angry at you just because of the disregard for one life, and you make it hard to stay calm if you insist on continuing the discussion despite the situation.  I recommend you save any further arguments for later, when we're not in a great deal of potential danger.  Then you won't have to worry as much about me for the time being."  There's a finality to those words, the warning hanging in the air.
Nathan begins walking away from Ventus again, with the intention of staying a respectful but still in view distance away.  Before he moves too far though..."Oh, and there's very little that's natural about a snake eating a bee in the middle of a hive.  The snake wouldn't even get into the hive in the first place, let alone be interested in eating the insects inside. Come on, Swiftfire.  We're keeping a little bit of distance between us and the rest of the group for now."
Swiftfire is somewhat reluctant to follow, but she does anyways. Â She knows Nathan's not angry at her, but...something in him has just snapped again. Â It's easy to see him shaking now. Â Swiftfire hasn't seen Nathan like this in a loooonnnggg time...the last time he'd been like this was about a year ago, and 2 years before that as well...he's afraid. Â Angry, but mostly afraid. Â And it's not just because of the bees' buzzing getting louder...
Ventus was silent as his young friend threw his argument back at his face, angrily disregarding his whole perspective of the situation. When the trainer launched into a diatribe about humanity's negative impact, the scientist stoic façade melted away, and was replaced with sad, worried one.
As he saw Nathan attempt to leave the group again, Ventus spoke up again to the boy. He sounded quite reluctant to speak with him, but he pressed on anyway. For both the group's sake, and the boy wellbeing. "........I believe I am beginning to understand you anger with at my actions, Nathan.... and have an inkling of your morality as well. No wonder we have never have quite got along; we have very different perspectives on life, as well as the value of life itself. .....Its doubtless I'm just driving you up the wall at this point by prolonging this arguement, but I still need to assure you safety, my friend . Promise me you will stay close to the group, and fight with us, and I'll drop the conversation until later. We, least of all I, don't want you to battle these Combee without backup and possibly......." Ventus paused for a moment, struggling to say his next words. His hands were tightly balled into fist, and he looked like he was about to cry in despair. He finally managed to choke out what he wanted to say in a half sob, half plea to the younger trainer.
"Please don't go, Nathan. I don't want to another person I care about die because of my stupid actions. Please."
' Don't go away. Don't disappear. Don't repeat history in front of me. Don't make me relive my worst experience in my life. '

Mate, are you sure you want to do that? I don't think that is a great idea,
