Noticed those beta/Mega Pinsir similarities too, though I wonder why they just didn't give them that evolution in some manner like they did to Scyther.....? Was it to keep the bug a counterpart to Heracross........hmm.

*shrug*

I'm not entirely sure why they decided to keep Scizor (though it was originally going to be bug/flying and look a bit...spikier) but repurpose the Pinsir evo into Heracross and eventually turn them into the bug duo.  Pinsir and Scyther were originally counterparts, after all.  But then Heracross came in and started being Pinsir's counterpart from Gen 3 on.

Well, perhaps there is very much unlikely to happen. I remember see a statement of Nintendo saying they not gonna make any new Mega Forms. And since the release of Sun/Moon and US/UM, we did not see any new kinda of Mega Evolution. Gen 7 it is what I like to call: "The fanservice generation". His why: Team Rocket coming back, the Alola forms of old pokemon from Kanto, the Ash Greninja, Pikachu/Raichu/Mew/Snorlax receiving exclusive Z-moves (all these pokemon coming from Kanto), the Battle Tree, and of course the battle against Red and Blue. And of course the protagonist be from Kanto.

In matter of gameplay and new mechanics/competitive, I would not call something "extraordinary" like Gen 6 was who bring a lot of new features: Mega Evolutions, New Legendary pokemons, strong competitive pokemon, along with another few things. Thats at least was my point of view. I not saying Gen 7 is bad, but I would say it was...inferior to other Gens. At least in my opinion. I just hope Gen 8 bring something more cool and awesome. Better than Gen 7 I hope.

I want to remain optimistic that they'll revisit megas at some point.  Partially because they still haven't made that Mega Flygon they wanted to do yet!  And (in general) I don't think there would be many complaints about more megas.

I agree that Gen 7 felt a little...lacking in terms of the multiplayer experience.  Gen 6 did it so much more cleanly and was the generation that introduced most of the big competitive QoL stuff, after all.  Gen 7 single player was fine, though I definitely could have done with fewer unskippable cutscenes on repeat playthroughs.

On an unrelated yet still related topic, you still thinking over Reiner's responses to mine and Spiritmon's posts, mate? Its been several days, and while I don't like to pressure, having a timeline on your next post would help me scheduale my own posting and planning process, so.....

Yeah, still thinking.  Been focusing more on Iron's game for the time being.

RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Spiritmon - 06-07-2018

I hope so. But I dont like very much about be optimistic. Just be realistic. The less hype you got, the less you get disapointed. Although you cant always escape the train of hyping (Looking at you Saint Seya) and you always get caugh. Not that is a bad thing. It cool have sometimes you expect something and in the end you get something even better. I hope Nintendo someday make a new Transform user besides Ditto. Something more or less Duplicat or perhaps Dramsama. Something we can breed and use in the competitive. That would be awesome. I just hope Nintendo bring something awesome in Gen 8.

Like I say, "Fanservice generation". Much of the content they did in Ultra Sun/Moon could be done in some kind of DLC like they did with the Delta Episode in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Necrozma, Ultra Reckon Squad, etc. And perhaps a more cool style in capture Legendary would be awesome. Because, cmon, enter Black Holes to find the Legendary Pokemon? That kind of thing already exist in OR and AS! They just use Control+C and Control+V when making that capture system!

And cmon, Rainbow Rocket? Badly introdution. They are menace as Magikarp in the land. They simple did that for fanservice. Screw script or story, lets just make some whatever to gain more money with another cliche story. I not saying Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is bad, but the lack of lore and incosistency is something...frustrating. I am a guy who loves a good story and lore. Thats why I love so much the game Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Its a vast world with a rich lore: The Dragons, The Daedric Princes, the Aetherium Wars, the Dwemers, the old Nord Mythology. Its a so vast world and you lost thousands and thousands of hours in todal medidation reading books and always learning something new.

I know the Pokemon franchise its not something who ever focus in the story, they are more focus in the gameplay and the capture of pokemons to build a strong team, but along the path, they open possibilities with the lore of pokemon: The fossil pokemon, the old eras of the world, the wars who happens, the great cataclism of the war in Kalos who bring forth the power of Mega Stones, the Legendary Pokemon who supose to be godlike beings (Entei per example be able to create a new vulcan everytime he roars its a powerfull example), etc etc etc.

Even its the Pokemon its not focus in the story, it wouldnt hurt if they make a game with a better focus in the story itself more than the gameplay. Perhaps something like, Pokemon Colosseum or Pokemon Gale of Darkness who have a more dark and sinister plot? Or like Detetive Pikachu who have a interesting plot (I see a bit of the game with playthougs so please dont tell spoilers). Its doesn't need to be in the main series of games, but why not a spin off using a bit of the mechanics of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon?

Anyway, that post came more long than I was intent so finish for now. Thougs about these insights @Lord Windos and @Dragonstrike? Sorry about the huge post....

RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Lord Windos - 06-07-2018

I just think that Pokémon has gone on long enough to suffer what I like to call 'degredation of the core concept', where they've pretty much innovated and expanded on the basic formula enough that its been more or less refined to a razor edge, to the point that its starting to cut at them. Once you've 'done everything' , and done it well with incremental and sweeping improvements at that, its hard to make more creative concept that are fun and interesting without either deviating what made a concept(s) itself, or going into a radical new direction entirely. Both of which are likely going to cause no small amount of fan outrage if not managed carefully. Sometimes it works, like the Mystery Dungeon series, and other times like the Trozi and Gamecube titles.....not so much.

Personally, while I'm not too happy with the steps back, pandering, and the other problems you've mentioned Spiritmon they've taken in Gen 7, I could also point it out as the generation that got me back into mainstream Pokémon as well, since retreading 'old' ground while also trying something new is a good idea as any to attract old and new fans alike to the series.

That, and I think the whole Rainbow Rocket stick was all too appropriate and the right amount of self indulgence fanservice, given one of the core concepts of US/UM was cross dimensional travel and all that it brings. It wasn't necessarily supposed to have some complex narrative, or really be all that threatening, but rather a fun romp through memory lane and exploring the concept of 'what if all the big bad of the series got together and tried to take over the Pokémon Universe?' Overall, I didn't find it all to offensive and a fun plotline to while away the hours, but that is just my opinion,

RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Spiritmon - 06-07-2018

I think you right. Its a negative thing when a franchise exist for so much time: When you improve and expand so the story, you reach a point when you cant improve more. Lets use another example to show that: Imagine if all the universe its some kind of notebook (the paper version to be more precisely), and each page of that notebook is filled with all of his story: His creation, the protagonists, the villains and everything inside. All the existence. What happens if these pages is out? If there is no space to expand anymore? To go further? Nothing to explore anymore? Two paths: To be forgoten since there is nothing new. Or the rebooting everything returning back to zero point and begin everything once again. Or a third option: Creating something new and different.

I agree too, as much US and UM its not exatcly the best pokemon I ever see, its not a bad tittle. It indeed bring some flesh air to the franchise, bring old trainer with the old school ground, and new trainers to this rich world of pokemon, something the pokemon franchise needed. As much I think the game could be better, I must admit the games did their mission: They bring new things and keep using old things the same time.

Yeah, I think you right. I must admit see all the leaders of each organization be beat by a 11 years old kid its pretty funny. And the interactions we see between them its very amusing too to watch. I still think a better would be good, but to the mission in making a good fun, they acomplished that too. I think the only good plot in the pokemon franchise we gonna see its in fangames and the roleplays. The fans always find a better way to expand the universe more than nintendo and gamefreak.

RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Dragonstrike - 06-08-2018

I think the ambiguity in some of the lore is what makes Pokemon so great from a story perspective.  Yeah, some of the in-game story stuff could be expanded on better by Game Freak, but they might also be leaving it like that on purpose.  Leaves room for the fans to speculate and come up with their own stories to fill in the gaps. Or for Game Freak to go back at a later point and fill in those gaps themselves if they so desire.

RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Spiritmon - 06-08-2018

I agree with that. It's so much lore material to be used for fangame plots and of course the Role-played. Skull Ruins and Celadon City it's strong examples about how to make good use of the pokemon lore, put a bit of GURPS system and a nice narrative them BAM! A awesome Roleplay with excellent plots for all tastes. One be lighter like Skull Ruins when you do a normal path of a trainer or a more hardcore taste when you are literally the bad guy!

And I must confess: As much I love the Skull Ruins campaign, I love quite a lot too the Celadon City campaign. The plots, the characters, the interaction between them and of course the Team Rocket. I always like to see how team rocket is inside, besides be only a criminal organization. They are still evil as ever, but when you study a bit more the layers you can see it's not so much "black and white" here. Reiner per example is a Rocket Grunt who wants revenge against the Elder of Blackthorn. But when you see his journey until now you can discover a more soft side, one with his care about his Pokemon, and the people he have around him: Weavile, Kingdra, Emily and Mew is only a few examples.

And there is my favorite madman Arial. He is crazy, have short temper, makes mistakes and make awful puns. More or less Jaycee and James from the anime. Heck, he even have a cat-like Pokemon as partner! But when you study him more deep you can see that character have more to offer: His Grim past, the life he was force to endured, trying to living up to his father lessons about smiling even when you live a cruel world and then loosing him, you ended up feeling simpaty for him and maybe feel related to him somehow? And of course his hatred of humanity balanced by his kindness by many other Pokemon even the dangerous ones like Sekmet who is a truly nuclear reactor ready to explode if not be careful! And even offering to free her from the pokeball, something a person in his perfect sanity would never do! But again, we talking about a madman.

I carried away about my character sorry^^"What I trying to say is, I really love the Celadon City campaign because how well and neat is the way Windos handle this campaign. Each character he created, make me always curious about their backstory and the world around them. For a guy who loves lores, backstory and a concept about gray character Celadon City it's a awesome plate to enjoy. Many people should give more credit to both Windos and Iron about the hard work and awesome story making they do to build such nice Roleplay you don't usually see everytime.

At least this is my point of view. When I go meditation I sometimes go in deep study about something and write something about it. Anyway going to eat something. See you guys later!
