RE: [Game Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows - Dragonstrike - 06-30-2020

"...that seemed a little too rude to me, to be honest...they don't seem like bad pokemon...I know I wouldn't want to work with someone who's hurling insults at me..."

Karen was quiet during that exchange, but she had been listening and spoke up because she felt she had something to say.

"...nothing to do about it now, I suppose...let's keep going and find that apple for Zubat..."

She seems to be rather reserved and a little sad right now, but she pushes on with the rest of the team without further complaint.

---------------------------------------------------------

*rolls*

Two tiles to the southwest, the group encounters a sudden drop off!  It appears that they're descending the mountain in this direction, as they've appear to have found what looks to be the start of a chasm!

[attachment=1071]

The number of trees seems to have thinned around the chasm, but the group can also see a single tree growing at the top of the incline that leads down into the chasm's depths.  A strong wind whips through the chasm, howling ominously as it exits the rocky terrain and assails the rest of the mountain.

Everyone initially has to hold up a hand/paw and turn their faces away from the strong winds blowing from the chasm, but that turns out to have an interesting consequence.  As Kogeki, Karen, and Daxter all look in the direction of the tree at the top of the incline, they spot something red hanging from one of its branches, as well as light glinting off of something underneath the tree.

"Is that what I think it is hanging from that tree?"  Karen seems hopeful that the red thing might be just what they were looking for.

Before the group can progress or investigate the tree, however, the immediate question is: how is the group going to get down from this cliff safely?

RE: [Game Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows - PhantomUnderYourDesk - 07-02-2020

Huh well... After those words and insight from Karen, Ziggy Kee stays a little in her presence as the group presses onwards. He doesn't say or do anything in particular along the way, only thinks things through and comes to the conclusion that she's not wrong actually. Well, he himself still prefers to get his own impression of this Team Gallop, to him alone they actually seemed alright.

----

Either way, that strong wind blowing and semi-messing up his fine black-white fur stops Kee from overthinking things; he immediately rushes over to staaaare into the depths of the chasm with a wagging tail and massive interest + curiosity. A cliff, an incline, a new area, wonder what secrets it may hold!1!!11! As he does so, he notices a rush of sudden...melancholy? befalling his small-big heart, making it weight twice as much. He bristles his fur and hides a frown over this mood swing of his and continues to look down the bottom of the cliff, failing to understand where this feeling comes from... Strange. What he DOES understand though: "Huh boi, if ya were t'fall down here, ya'd be lucky as heck to make it w'thout serious injury..."

And THEN this red thing hanging from a branch of a particlar tree AS WELL AS that glinting of light beneath the same tree catches his interest like a Pikachu's tail catches a lightning, causing his to gaaaaaasp: "Tha missions' objective, tha missions objective, THIS must be it! ヽ(°〇°)ノ But, it's going down so deeeeeeeeply.... Eh whatever, people!, I'm goin' to climb down that cliff to check things out regaaaaaardless!~~" Kee's beginning to enjoy being a Pokemon more and more, as a human he'd think twice about climbing down - as a smol Zigzagoon, why should he not dare doing this?~

Though BEFORE doing that, he retrives the Oran Berry, the Pecha Berry, the Tiny Reviver Seed and the two Apples from his guitar bag, puts them into the Guild Bag, then tosses the guitar bag down the chasm where it (hopefully, given its weight and size) lands at the ground below to function as a cushion shall he slip and fall while climbing down. The Guild's Bag, now holding all the Items that may be damaged upon an unlucky fall, he keeps at his person. NOW Ziggy Kee starts the actual climb down: He carefully sets one paw after the other, makes use of his sharp claws and jagged jaw to not loose grip, balances himself with his bushy tail, and overall trusts his instincts and guts to make it all fine. Whenever there's a strong gust of wind blowing, he stops to not let this gust hinder him on his way. In general, he's concentrating and staying alert, and he's gaining +1 Survival Skill for 8XP to raise the chance of success. Once he's roughly a meter or two before the ground, he'll take a leap right into the guitarbag.

Scenic question, that tree holding that Apple(?) - does it actually have leaves right now, is it green or completely dry and such?

Pyra's smile dimmed at the smol fae's words, her natural cheer dampened them and their unhappiness.

".....Perhaps, maybe, and I believe you are right. But those foals, no matter if they be good or ill, ruined their chance of friendship and cooperation, yes. Though I have no fondness nor love of them, no, I do hope they have-will learn the lessons of their follies. It does no one well if they ever fail as Adventurers."

And that's all the lil' fiendess has to say about that. She's aware that opinions about Team Gallop are divided, and though she doesn't understand why she can accept that some of her friends and companions wish to see those tiny horses in a light most open and bright. Yet another thing she has yet to learn....

(...)

Kee bolting off in front of her causes Pyra to give eager chase, thinking it both a fun little game and that they found something of interest, and ends up joining him at the cliff edge overlooking the Room. She's quick to pick up on his inexplicit dour mood shift, and is concern and puzzled by it. What is it about the craggy black abyss and the rest of the scenery inspired such glumness in him? Before she could ask about it, though, his comment distracts her, prompting her to tilt her curiously at that notion.

"Truly and verily? Would have thought a ground's distance this long and tall would make for a safe fall, yes."

Their next observations rapidly pique the brimstone imp's interest, getting her just as excited as they are in short order as she claps her claws and wiggled with zeal!

"Really maybe so, Ziggy Kee?! Then I shall take the plunge too with thee!"

With that said, Pyra promptly hops over the cliff's edge, shouting out a "Weeeeee!" as she fell. Down to the ground below she goes, the hard and fast way!

Kogeki take off the items he have at the moment: The Escape Orb, his Kunai, and everything else he had and put in the Guild Bag to avoid any kind of problem in terms of weight.

The only he didnt take off was his scarf. He look at the other tree, seeing the Apple right at front of him. He take a deep breath, and using all his ninja skills and Riolu agility use Quick Attack to increase his speed and run right at the tree!

Quick Attack to reach Tree and grab tree!: Dex(2)+Fight(2)+Brawl(2)+Single Action(2)=8D6

RE: [Game Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows - no one - 07-06-2020

Dax watched Pyra and Kee jump off a cliff with a bemused smile. He shook his head.
"I'm not screwing with a leap off a cliff! I'll find another way down." Dax said before examining the rest of the area for any other way down.

(Roll for searching for another way down)

RE: [Game Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows - Dragonstrike - 07-06-2020

Daxter looks to see if there's any alternative ways down that might be better suited for a pokemon that isn't very skilled at climbing.

Alert: (4)(4)(6) 3 successes!

Well look at that!  It looks like there's some small ledges a little further down the cliff side that one could drop onto to make their way down into the chasm. Walking up to the tree would be fairly trivial after using those ledges to drop down.

--------------------------------------------------------

"I'll stay here and watch your stuff too, Kogeki.  Wait, Pyra, what are doi...?!"

Karen tries to grab Pyra to stop her, but isn't quite fast enough on the draw to do so, so the Devimp gleefully throws herself off the edge!

Logic: (4)(4)
Instinct: (5)(5) Tie goes to the 'defender' (Instinct in this case since it's going against what Pyra wishes to do)

...and moments later, Pyra's pokemon instincts kick in and she begins to slightly panic as she rushes towards the ground very, very quickly.

Athletics: (2)(3) 0 successes

...unfortunately, for her, she reaches the ground before she can do anything that might possibly lessen the impact.

Fall Damage: (2)(2)(1)(5) Pyra takes 1 Lethal damage (and also discovers that taking fall damage isn't super effective against her)

*crack!*

Pyra hears her *rolls* left arm snap as her side collides with the ground, and a wave of pain washes over her.  That definitely looks and sounds like it hurt...

Karen peers over the edge of the cliff, wincing and looking rather worried.  "Pyra!  Are you okay?!"

-----------------------------------------------

Kogeki, meanwhile, is making a leap for the tree from the cliff at double speed!  Well, trying to.  Let's see how he does, shall we?

Quick Attack: (6)(3)(3)(4)(2)(6) 3 successes

Kogeki, light on his feet thanks to both Quick Attack and not carrying much of anything, might actually stand a chance of reaching the tree after all!

3 successes are required to make this jump, as this is a somewhat difficult task.

Athletics: 2 Dex + 1 Survival + 0 Athletics + 1 QA + 1 No Load = 5 D6
(6)(5)(2)(5)(1) 3 successes!

Kogeki soars over the ground at high speed, grabbing the tree's branches when he reaches them, knocking loose the Apple hanging from those very same branches!  It falls on the shiny stuff underneath the tree, a pile of shiny Poké, and isn't bruised as a result!  Looks like there's about 150 Poké down there.

------------------------------------------------

Kee does the least crazy action and attempts to just climb down, using the empty guitar bag to cushion his fall if he does happen to do so.  As he soon discovers, though, Zigzagoon might be tree climbers, but they're not particularly well adapted for rock climbing, so there's no bonus to this roll (no penalty either, though.  Only 1 success required to make it down safely due to the guitar bag, though)

Athletics: (6)(1)(5) 2 successes!  Kee has very little trouble climbing down the side of the small cliff with the plentiful number of handholds and the security of having a cushion underneath himself.

-------------------------------------------------

With the retrieval of the Apple (and the money that they can split as they wish), that's mission complete!  The group now has the opportunity to leave the dungeon once again.  Would they like to do so?

Kogeki felt great. Even if he would be a human, he doubt he could feel this...powerful. And mighty. Despite be just a Ghost-type, he could feel the wind brush though his furr when he double his speed, looking at his goal in hand. He raise both of his arms, spining in the place, and then putting his two feet in the branches, making the Apple fall hopefully in some poké. Guess Kogeki ninja indeed pay off!

He however see Pyra fall and he startle shout at her! "Pyra! Are you kay?!"

Eww, during his actiosn Kee realizes that while climbing TREES!~ is fun as heck, climbing down a cliff is 200% less fun. Fuuuu... He looks delighted and obviously relieved as he takes a lead down the last meter of the cliff to *POOF* land softly, gracefully and paws-first on his guitar bag. "Haha, take THAT ya mightly cliff!~ ( ÒωÓ)و☆ Ya thought ya'll be an obstacle for me?~" Still, now that he's safely down, he takes a deep breath as he totally didn't semi-held his during climbing.

And now that he's down safely, he can check whether Pyra herself.... Oh, right, he saw her rushing past him as he was climbing.
..... ANd sHe Did sO wITh QUitE tHA sPeeD aNd OBvioUslY In pANic!!11!

Ziggy Kee rushes to her in his best zig-zag manner and nudges her with his nose,
he looks quiet frantic, worried and... angry. Oh yes, angry. And sad, very sad and gloomy, as if the stunt the fierly demon pulled off stirred up something within him that he would much rather lock away into the blackest of black chambers behind a solid steel door. ???? Eh, but no time wonder about that. "My my, Pyra, ya definite'y  DON'T look okay, nor did yar panic'd manner allude t'somethin' pleasant happeni'. Do tell meeeee.... WHAT WERE YA THINKIN' T'JUST JUMP DOWN HERE?! o(TヘTo) A little less luck, and ya'd have gone straight to heaven - or hell, if that'd suit yar species more - ya know... T'least ya... ya had more luck than sense this time, thankfully." ( ._.)

He carefully licks over the hand belonging to the arm she landed on. "Here, 'ntil ya'll be able to get proper treatment, rest yar arm on my stuff 't least..." He pulls his guitar bag close, and offers her to rest her arm on it (as well as on himself if desired, he'll bristles and floof his fur then)

Oh, right... "Medicine, MEdiCiNe!!1" \(>_< \) Kee eagerly stuffles through his bag, eventually pulling ot an Oran Berry and offering it to the fierly demon. But he'd need a second one to heal some lethal damage...

One Oran Berry is actually enough to heal the Lethal damage, contrary to Kee's expectations!  Why'd he think that an Oran Berry wouldn't be able to heal Lethal damage...?  How weird.  Maybe it's something to do with his human memories?

(Remember that Oran and Sitrus Berries are more effective in this game to make up for the lack of Potions)

(Whoops, you're right... Well, how lucky for Kee!~ But will Pyra accept it?)
