Edit: I have finished the video. And let me tell you all something: If I didn't hated Nintendo and Ai already, now I hate them even more.

Deep Sigh Oh Nintendo. You never fail in be disapointing as ever. I know at this point I shouldn't be surprised to be them to be this fucking stupid...but alas, Nintendo, as always, are a bunch of greedy freaks.

Ohh, many thanks for the update of that case! It's been a bit since there were any news on this.

Not directly this time. Looking at the designs of a vast majority of Palworld-creatures, me feels they have done more than just 'take influence' of Pokemon. There are also videos online that compare the 3D-models of Pokemon and Palworld-creatures, and they look very much alike if not outright identical to one another... Like, yeah indeed, I lowkey can understand this particular lawsuit.
On the other side, IF Palworld goes down and looses, it surely won't be taken well by its big fandom. (I do admit it was funny to see my fave Vtubers play it, haven't myself though)

I do agree they very much similar. But that story was already debunked if they copy the models. It was reveal a user had already the desighs to be identical to Pokemon 3d models to incriminate Palworld. Yeah, Pokemon might be owner of the Pokemon franchise, but in the "Capture" monster mechanics. So yeah, they problably doing that just because of spite because people be complaining of their game quality for a long time.

It is very important to note that Nintendo and TPC are not suing Pocketpair over a possible copyright infringement, but a possible patent infringement. This is wildly different because it is far less likely to deal with the creature designs and more to deal with the mechanics of how portions of at least one Pokemon game and Palworld operate. I found that a little surprising given how... uncanny some of the creature designs in Palworld can be (*stares at the water type serperior with primarina hair*), but this definitely isn't a legal angle without at least some kind of merit.
We don't know which patents are involved yet (and neither does Pocketpair), but the speculative guesses out there right now are mainly two things:
- the method of capturing creatures. Pokeballs vs Pal Spheres. There's a reason a lot of indie creature collectors use devices that aren't spherical.
- the mechanics of rideable creatures. This would have to do with not just the types of creatures being ridden, but also the mechanics of swapping between rideable creatures and similar.
I've seen a few people comparing how those mechanics work in Palworld to how they function in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. There might be something there. It could still be completely off base and Nintendo found something else, but one thing is for certain: they would not have taken action if they weren't confident that they had something substantial. Nintendo's lawyers are some of the most well known in Japan, and they filed this in a Japanese court.
This is going to be a big thing no matter which way the gavel falls.

Ugh. Why Nintendo? Just...why? They already in thin ice after they're last anti-consumer tactics. Can someone please tell me, why, when they're are this close to Pokemon AZ release, when they're need to have some credit with they're fans again, they decided this kind of bullshit?
I mean, it's already bad they're shutdown fan projects. But shutdown a no-nintendo related project? Those dirty, bastard, greed pigs! Those lazy good for nothing bastards! They want money? FINE! Instead of shot other people projects, they should start making good ones first!
*Trying to control my boiling rage* ...I swear to God, if I could breath fire, my home would be burning right now. Gonna take a rest because I can barely control the rage I feel.

I don't think Palworld is going to be shut down over this unless the ruling in this case ends up being extremely dramatic. Lord knows Pocketpair's made enough money off of Palworld's sales to likely be able to afford whatever fee might be slapped in their face over this. Pocketpair's even stated they don't think this lawsuit will kill the game iirc.
I think a proper competitor to pokemon would be a very good thing, but I'd want it to be done right without the looming shadow of the big N threatening a lawsuit that could ruin it. Even though this took a different form than I was initially expecting, I saw this lawsuit coming months ago because of how modern copyright and patent law is enforced. Whatever happens with this case, I hope Palworld can continue to grow in a positive direction after the fact.
The Temtems, Coromons, Monster Crowns, Cassette Beasts, and Nexomons of the world have all already proven they can coexist with pokemon. I'd love to be able to add Palworld to that list, but I also would prefer if my doubts about the game's relation to its Pokemon inspirations are cleared up first. You can bet I will be watching how this case unfolds as closely as I can.
