Nintendo continues its fight against gamers
#81
Just one question I would like to ask: Why? Just...why? Why Nintendo are going to such lenghs against Palworld? Its a true good fun game. I buy and played myself. I didn't had this kind of fun in a monster collect games in like...years. Not even in the recently Pokemon games! Why Nintendo just...shut up, leave Palworld alone and just work in a honestly good Pokemon game? Or leave others to make good games, instead of burn even more customer bridges trust even more? Can someone please PLEASE just tell me why? It got to the point where Pocketpair had to remove the mechanic of throw your Pals in the battefield because of that Patent (and I hate it).

Or rather, here a better option: Is there any chance of Palworld succeed? Japan worships old corporations, and the trial will happen on Japan. I fear about Palworld future, and if the game have any chance of survival, or will nintendo will win again as the piece of shit of corporation she is?
Kogeki currently ability to active in battles: Anticipation.

Most likely because Sony is backing Palworld, and Nintendo sees that as a business threat.  My posts on the previous page have a link to an actual lawyer's take on why that might be the case, and why Nintendo is specifically pursuing a patent infringement instead of of copyright.  The tldw is that Nintendo would likely have left Palworld alone if Sony hasn't started helping Palworld expand into a multimedia brand ala Pokemon.

There's a very real chance that Pocketpair might be able to beat the lawsuit (see their continued insistence that they are going to see this case through to its end), but it won't be easy for them.

Got another video on the Nintendo vs Palworld patent infringement you guys can watch if interested.  It has a similar conclusion to Moon Channel's video, but it's from the perspective of a game designer and aspiring businessman rather than a lawyer.  He also goes a little into what he thinks is being claimed to be infringing on said patents, and there's some nice discussion on that in the video's comments.

Here's the link to said video. (Warning: it's an hour long)

Also, Golden Owl puts out some really nice content talking about various games design elements.  Would recommend checking some of that out if that kind of thing sounds interesting to learn about.

Welp, chances of me getting a Switch 2 went down dramatically; only launch title I was interested in was a victim of the new predatory key cartridge idea.

Nintendo has apparently clarified some of this recently.

To quote that article:

Okay, sounds good. And I do understand that some Indie Devs may be unable to provide a physical game, even if I'd prefer they could.

A bit later down the line:

?????? They are, uhm, being contradictory.

Really, I love Nintendo. Awesome games, awesome memories playing them and all. But everything they're doing as of lately makes it insanely hard to continue liking them as a whole. (Plus I don't have the money to pay 80 f#cking dollars for a game, as great as it may be and as much as I'd want it. Steam at least has various sales where pricey games can be snatched at a lower prize, but I don't remember physical games by big N ever being on sale)

Sales happen, but they're rare and easy to miss, or are due to stores clearing out old stock.

Nintendo's PR is just a complete mess right now.  It's been going downhill ever since Iwata's passing and Reggie's retirement.  (Fun fact: Reggie not so subtly posted a reminder on his social media how well the Wii did partially due to the packed in games it came with everywhere except Japan).  And with everything going on right now, it's kind of a perfect storm of stress that's bringing this all to a head.

Anyways, if you're planning get a S2 and MKW, absolutely try and get the bundle that includes both.  Knocks off almost half the price of the game for some reason (and I can already tell that bundle is going to be impossible for anyone to keep in stock).

Ohh, a bundle containing both!~ That does indeed sound like decent idea, though I think I'll abstain for now - am busy and on a budget enough/already with setting up my new appartment, it's still not too log ago when I've upgraded my PC aka put saved up cash into that one, and convention season is coming up soonish. But even if I abstain, a hundred other people will still give Nintendo their money, I fear.

Fun fact: I saw a statistic stating that 70% of the S2 preorders in the EU were the MKW bundle.

Yeeeeaaaaahhhhh, that does not bode well for said bundle's long term availability.
