IV GTS
#11
I like the idea of (and actually suggested a few weeks back) being able to add additional filters to lessen the chance of getting a trade sniped.  I had that happen to me the first time I used GTS -- I was trying to trade with someone who was about six hours off my time zone, and wound up getting my Pokemon sniped (luckily, I found the person who did it and was able to swap the 'mons back and continue with my original trade).  I prefer to use direct trades now when possible, but sometimes -- like when the Lobby was down -- that's not an option.

A "Nature" filter, I could see happening easily.  However... I'm not a programmer/coder, but I can imagine trying to set up an IV filter would be difficult... you wouldn't want to just say, for instance, 5IVs because the "off" IV could wind up with something you don't want (for instance, let's say you wound up with a Flager with a 0 Speed!).  The only feasible way I can foresee doing that would be to have six different filters to specify what number you want for each IV... that would get complicated in a hurry!

Having said all that... I definitely think having the option to set a specific Online ID to your trade -- or select "any Online ID" if you really don't care who you trade with or what you get in return -- would be very helpful for people trying to trade across major time zone differences.  And it doesn't sound like it would be that hard to do.

@PhantomUnderYourDesk I should be able to trade sometime tomorrow... I just picked up your Tracton at the Casino, now I just need to come up with a good nickname for it!  Wink

I agree. These would be great features/filters for GTS.

-Trade with specific trainer
-IVs
-Shinines (if a trainer requirs a shiny)
-Nature
-Choosing if accept or reject a trade by depositor

In my opinion, six number password is user unfriendly. (Instead of choosing a person directly, you need a save way of communication to her/him. If you have not, somebody else may catch a password and snip a trade.)

Without filters mentioned above, no one can rely on GTS, if wants a rare or good stats pokemon.

I don't know how buttons are added into game, but a filter should not be hard to implement. It is based on simple conditions (if/else):
1) Test, if player choose a restriction.
2) If player chose a restriction, check it on other side, it is simple comparation.
If condition is not met, forgive a trade, else repeat the proces for another posible restriction.
3) If trade was not forgiven during checking process, all requirements are met and trade will be allow.

I am not sure how offline bugs may appear during development. About online (trade) bugs, I have a theory...
More players online->busier servers.
High amount of online players->servers do not have a capacity response all->get stuck->error.

I think they should add in the passcode idea into the gts, that has been suggested, as an option if you want to keep the trade limited to another person. That way you can freely post a trade topic on the forum and then pm the person you want to trade the passcode to prevent everyone who views your trade topic from sniping...

Thanks everyone about the opinions. Well i agree with Monkey and Phantom, it would be very dificult to have code the GTS to make that functions, but i like very much the sugestion of Jason.

I think ID Filter option or a passcode would be a good way to facilitate trades, at least through the forums/Discord. I'd assume that people would communicate with each other their ID's/passcodes before trading, so it wouldn't be that inconvenient. Of course, there is the possibility that this little change can cause massive bugs, so caution should be used before implement these filters...

Like I said, lock your deposited Pokemon with the other person's ID to make it possible only for THAT person to trade it.
