Oooooohh, @Dragonstrike, I have the feeling that Nathan and Shiva, who will be my Chara, will have little of a hard time getting along with one another... This will be interesting! C:
I don't know how detailed a created Chara is usually, but I ended up with the following and I feel quite well how it turned out. Ehm, try to be nice to her and she will be nice to you as well...
- Female and 19 years old at the receive of Startermon.
- Her mother works at the Medal Office in Castelia City, her father is a freelance Pokemon Breeder. He teached her most mechanics in this field. They arranged an meeting with Prof. Mallord as well as a temporary place to stay in Trillium. (What a pretty name for a town!) However, she has no experience in the care of own Pokemon yet, nor battling with them, and isn't even sure whether that trainer-thing will be hers. She nevertheless tries to rejoice for the opportunity to see more of the world, and hopes to encounter (maybe even catch!) rare and precious Pokemon. A little boost in self-confidence is also very welcome.
- As for personality, she is a calm soul who dislikes unnecessary conflicts. Someone who shares treats with those she's close to before they even asked if they can have a bite off. She will gladly share any knowledge with you if turned to or if it might be helpful in the situation. Bringing her to talk about her own thoughts/feelings/worries might be difficult though, as she often doesn't know how to express them properly in words. Yet she has a versatile world of feelings; and if something catches her interest, you may be suprised how she freaks out about it.
- She likes Pokemon of the Types Fairy and Grass most of all, and dislikes those that resemble fish „because they're boring.“"
Two characters with social awkwardness in one form or another? Yup, this is certainly going to be interesting...looking forward to joining you on this adventure though! And who knows? Maybe they'll warm up to each other in time. Only good role play will tell...

Does it have to be the player who draws the art for their character, or can they get help from another on that?

I don't mind if you get help on art.
Any form of art counts, too, whether it be chiptunes or sketches or trail songs!

@ PhantomUnderYourDesk My, my, you are as talented as ever, my love~ Can't wait to see what fan art you come up with for our humble little roleplay!
Since everyone else has made a character background, I might as well pitch in my own!
Character Name: Ventus Zachariah
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Occupation: Sociologist
Appearance: He's around 5 foot 6, with chocolate colored eye and head full of vibrant orange hair. Loves to wear sweaters, no matter the climate, and is often wearing a green tweed sweeter, comfortable slacks, and open toed sandals. Has a large brown satchel that can carry any number of things.
Personality: If there were anyone that had to have a heart of gold, look no further than Ventus. Incredibly kind and caring, this guy makes it his goal to meet the needs of everybody he meets, and with a gentle smile on his face. Accompanying these qualities is their remarkable empathy, with him being able to understand almost anything related to a person's emotional disposition, ranging from knowing whether they are cheerful, or hiding something deeper within. His empathy is soon keen that he's even able to comprehend (to a limited extent) what a Pokémon is saying. Ventus has an intense curiosity to match, with an alarming tendency for it to lead him astray many a time. They disdain unnecessary conflicts, feeling that their are often better ways to settle disputes, and as a result try, either to his success or failure, to prevent such conflict from occurring. He also has a bad habit of worrying to much of other; its not uncommon to see him fretting over someone like a mother hen.
Goal in Exploring the Region: Ventus came to the region for one simple reason: to better understand the relationships between Pokémon. From youth to graduating at college, Ventus has had a passion for understanding how people, in myriad ways, interact with one another. He's also been intensely interested in Pokémon behavior, watching the ways they act with their human trainers and others of their kind. Put both together, and a few years into his career, he decided go on a quest to better understand Pokémon, their way the react to one another, what their society is like etc etc.. Using his contacts, he contacted Prof. Mallord and got a visa to explore the region and conduct his research...with the stipulation that he would share his finding with them.

Indeed, what a neat little party~
Thanks for the free XP!\^-^/☆I assume they are for the character, since she doesn't even have a Pokemon yet? Also, since you said you'll be calculating the amount of XP, do I need to keep track of those on the sheet at all or not?

I'll just tell you how much XP you earned, and you'll be responsible for writing it down on the sheet.
So you can write down 1 XP for yourself (yes, your character).

That said, I'm liking how this party is shaping up! Really looking forward to the adventure now!

(This post was last modified: 03-30-2017, 01:10 PM by Iron.)
Thus, I present to you, the Creshire region.
Communities marked with red borders have a Gym!
Key:
1. Trillium Town
Starting town! Base of Professor Mallorn's business empire. Nestled in the roots of the mountain.
Residents have carved out pastures to feed the Ponyta herds, tamed from Mt Molten's native wild herds.
2. Ginger Town
At the headwaters of Vapor Falls
Many trainers begin their journey here, so watch out for tourist traps and scams. Perhaps you can turn a predatory situation to your advantage?
A small market of Pokemon for sale, mostly water types.
Sports are big here, including Shuckleball!
Daycare center.
3. Wineberry Town
A small forest paradise.
The biggest, strongest, most unusual Bug pokemon can be found here.
The people of this town have learned to work with the Bugs rather than against them.
4. Corsage Port
On Murkrow Cove. Seat of all interregion/nautical trading.
Professor Mallorn often has business here.
You'll see lots of Wailmer and Alomomola in the cove. Trainers use them to calm the whirlpools and waterfall rapids of the bay.
5. Stair City
The more modern capital of Creshire. As the name suggests, there are many staircases connecting the various plateaus of the city.
Some are escalators. Some can be moved, swung into place by teams of Machop and pulley systems.
Very populated, lots of technology.
Home to the Department Store.
6. Cress City
The original capital of Creshire, and the oldest of its cities.
Its said that the fjord to the south once extended all the way up to Cress City, where the original settlers landed and founded their empire.
To the north are the famed Skull Ruins barrow downs.
Many mythologists, traditional medics, mediums, etc.
Traditions are strong here.
Patrat and Furret dig little tunnels in Mt Sentry, and are held with reverence by the natives.
7. Liverwort
A little town nestled in the mountains of the Great Divide.
A pocket of tundra forest before the savannah begins.
Rocky and prone to minor landslides.
Its residents are said to be wise.
Pokemon here are skittish and strange forest Pokemon.
8. Teazel Valley
Home to a Safari Zone!
Tauros are bred here.
9. Elanor
Named for the little yellow flowers that grow here.
Associated with the legendary Pokemon Shaymin.
Sunset is especially beautiful here, as they are the last to see the sun each day, where it sets over the distant ocean horizon with nothing impeding the view in all that distance.
They have a small Sunstone mine and therefore Bellossom and Sunflora.
10. Charring Cross
Legend says this town was once connected to Liverwort by subterranean tunnels, but no longer.
You can find igneous rocks/minerals from Mt Molten that have slid or washed here: obsidian, pumice, glass.
Many quaint craftsmen.
Men and women who can trace their ancestry to the ancient Cheshire nobility search the Great Divides for a Charmander during a coming of age ceremony.
11. Tumbleweed Town
In the heart of the Camas Desert.
Militiamen and their ground Pokemon are trained here, benefiting from the harsh environs.
Access to Bromeliad Bay, for naval operations.
Bromeliad Bay is the deepest part of the coastline; with Dive, you can find some unique things!
12. Garlicburg
A tropics island with steep, forbidding cliffs, but sandy beaches above and below.
There are no scheduled boat trips to this island.
Onions, shallots, garlic, leeks, chives, horseradish - all the most pungent root vegetables grow here.
13. Botanville
Home of Telperion University, "The Light of Creshire", an all outdoor university and Mallorn's alma mater.
Has a giant hedge maze.
One of the bigger towns but not quite large enough to qualify as a city.
Many historic districts in the residential part of town.
Solrock is their mascot, though not a native species.
14. Arrowroot Village
Can scarcely be called a village.
Only recently obtained electricity, which they have to produce themselves via Pokemon (Mareep's electric wool, Skiddo in turbines or using Solarbeam).
Largest Gloom malaise in Creshire (a group of Oddish, Gloom, or Vileplume is called a "malaise.")
15. Forb City
In the Trientalis Caldera is the Pokemon League.
This volcano is long extinct, but the Magcargo are still present.
Home of the surviving Hall of Fame.
Technologically up to date: a vast supercomputer terminal at the Hall of Fame, all the latest Pokeballs, the best medicines, employing several Professors and academics.
Leveled or hollowed peaks for the many simultaneous Pokemon battles.
A. Mt. Molten
Active volcano
B. Mt. Sentry
Legendary peak from which you can see the entire region. Honeycombed with tunnels.
Home to Normal types and cave Pokemon.
C. Earthstar Forest
Home to fungi and forest pokemon, including Exeggutor. Very dark and moist.
D. Camas Desert
Very dry. Almost no water, but there is plant life/Pokemon life.
Heliolisk are known to live here, but rarely.
E. Bromeliad Bay
A very deep inlet with a nice beach.
F. Ballybunyan Savannah
As you approach the coast, less and less trees
G. Great River Greenbriar
H. Vapor Falls
Go down in a barrel!
Go up on a bikelift, like a chairlift for bikes!
Lots of hiking trails, Campers, Rangers, and guides.
One of the best places to see a Gyarados.
I. Chicory Lake
A lake the size of Lake Superior in America.
The littoral zone (where light penetrates) is teeming with life and choked with plants. The interior has bigger water Pokemon such as Seel and maybe even a Lapras or two.
J. the Great Divide
A mountain range that seperates northern Creshire mesas from southern plateau. Mostly inaccessible.
K. Fireweed Forest
Much brighter than Earthstar Forest.
Brightly colored foliage.
Lots of folk art within.
Friendly Pokemon.
L. Borealis Road
Serves as a victory lap for trainers with 6 or more Creshire badges. You must take this to compete in the Pokemon League. The Championship Tournament participants can simply take the bikelift.
Winds through the mountains and deepest forests.
Powerful Pokemon, including Larvitar and family.
M. Hog Potato Swamp
A vast swamp, home to fleets of Quagsire, rare Mudkip, and many elusive swamp natives.
Watch for carnivorous plant Pokemon.
I've also changed the poll. Participation is not required, just something to build a little hype!
