The Incredibly Large (and Small) World of Uranium's Fandom - EeveeBailey - 11-18-2016 It just dawned on me this evening as I was trading with someone on FB just how incredibly diverse this community is. Thanks to Pokemon Uranium, I have communicated and traded with people not only from all over my own country (USA), but also literally all over the globe. To date, I've been in contact with people from Brazil, Germany, France, Australia, Slovenia, and Vietnam -- and those are just the countries I'm aware of, I'm sure there are probably many more! Isn't it absolutely amazing how this one fangame has brought people together from all over the world who might not have met otherwise? RE: The Incredibly Large (and Small) World of Uranium's Fandom - CodySP - 11-19-2016 If you've seen some of the Recaps for the Great Wondertrade Extravaganzas you get an idea of just how many lives Pokemon Uranium has touched. It's a testament to the work that JV and Twitch have done, as well as the perseverance, dedication and passion of the fans who keep Uranium happy and healthy RE: The Incredibly Large (and Small) World of Uranium's Fandom - Morshu - 11-19-2016 It's quite interesting to me to see how about everyone I know in real life looks down on playing Pokémon (except if it's Go, then it's acceptable, apparently), while Pokémon seems to be a really big thing online. I haven't been part of this community for long enough to really know where everyone is from here- but I can still relate, since I've been part of another community centered around a Pokémon fangame for several years now. It's baffling to see how I have met people that feel the same way about a lot of things as I do, and despite the fact that I most likely will not meet the majority of them in reality once, I still count a good deal of them as some of the best friends I have ever made. Not only that, it made me more aware of politics, economic situations, etc. in other countries. So in a way, it made me wiser as well. Despite being initially discouraged to get into forums by literally about everyone around me irl, I'm still glad I did anyway, because I've grown as a person thanks to that. RE: The Incredibly Large (and Small) World of Uranium's Fandom - Spiritmon - 11-19-2016 Yeah, i feel the same way. When i join in this community i not actualy só sure i have so much fun here. The guides, the stories, the art of the fans and the bad jokes make me reel like, i dont know, like home. And to think i would learn one thing or other about speak english (to the ones who dont know, i love in Brazil) and have friends from other countrys. And things i dont know about the Pokémon séries, i learn in Uranium. Ivs, Evs, Natures, Hidden Abilities, and so many other things i learn and discover thanks to this wonderfull game. Uranium bring players from many generations: From 1Gen to 6Gen, old players and new ones. When try to take down Uranium, she make us learn. Learn to make Uranium survive, to stick together, to fight together, and understand each other. I would like to make a special thanks to our adms who maintain the balance. Both in Uranium game and the forums. And another special thanks to some members in the forums: PhantomUnderYourDesk, EeveeBailey, Lord Windos, Pokenerd85, SmokeMemes, Jason85, Kangusth, and so many others. Thank you. RE: The Incredibly Large (and Small) World of Uranium's Fandom - EeveeBailey - 11-19-2016 There's just something universal about Pokemon that speaks to a lot of people. This would be the third forum I've become an active member on now (the first being part of a casual-gaming site, the second being a TV show fan-forum). And while I've made some incredible friendships and broadened my horizons at both places, this community in particular seems to have a more world-wide influence than either of the other sites. As I mentioned earlier, I've already communicated with people from at least six other countries that I'm aware of (actually seven -- I forgot to list Mexico -- and there's probably more that I don't know or can't think of at the moment)... whereas Forum A (gaming) is mostly USA/Canada with a couple in England and India, while Forum B (TV show) is almost exclusively USA. I wish Uranium had that interactive globe like in the canon games that shows where people you've traded with are from -- that would be awesome! Still amazes me what an impact this fan game gave on me and keeps on giving after recognizing a random announcement on tumblr that it got finished after years of work. What did phrase did someone throw in once... "social butterfly", right? RE: The Incredibly Large (and Small) World of Uranium's Fandom - Nylon - 11-20-2016 This site is wonderful! Even though I've been kinda inactive the last 2 weeks I still love this place. Oh. btw, you've talked with someone from Norway too. Can you guess who?

Nice weather here today, but cold! RE: The Incredibly Large (and Small) World of Uranium's Fandom - Morshu - 11-21-2016 The people I've met aren't specifically from Uranium, but I've met people from many different countries as well. The ones I remember on top of my head are USA, Canada, Australia, India, the UK, France, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium (countrymates yeee), Croatia, Denmark, South Korea and Brazil. It's a small world after all, I guess. |
