RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Dragonstrike - 07-27-2017 Well, that went a lot better than I expected it to. Really goes to show how strong Mega Evolution is, right? So much for the top percentage Raticate ![]() So, here's the little details in that battle that were messed up (by either of us): - The aforementioned goofs with initiative and when Petrify triggers (glad I double checked those) - Didn't apply foe's defense to reduce the damage of Arbok's attacks (I listed the damage pools as base damage, not final damage). Though the ones that landed did both crit... - In Skull Ruins, Mega Evolution grants +1 Defense, not Vitality, so it wouldn't normally give the extra 1 HP. This is almost certainly because Mega Evolution based stat increases never touch a pokemon's HP stat in the games. - Initiative stuff is weird with multiple actions and evasion, since evasion still counts as a full action. The way the first round against Fearow should have gone was: - Arbok used Thunder Fang! Fearow tries to evade - Arbok tries to use Thunder Fang again! Either Fearow takes it and attempts to use Agility or gives up its second action to evade again! - Fearow uses Agility if it didn't use it as its second action! Except it can't because it doesn't have enough dice in the pool (Agility would have had 0 dice because it uses Survival for its Skill check, not Fight, and the multi action penalty would have left Fearow with 0 dice after that was corrected) If Ice Fang hadn't connected, or if I'd caught that before giving the orders for Round 3, I would have mentioned it before continuing because that could have changed a lot. It would at least prevent me from making accuracy and damage mistakes as often as I do... The Vitality thing is my bad, though, but since it did give you an advantage, I don't know why you choose to point that out, other than being fair with me. I'm fine with you taking advantage of my goofs if it gives you an advantage, or calling me out when I goof up with stuff that would change the outcome of you battle. The way I try to do multi action would be sequential and follow the INI, but in this case it seems that it didn't quite work out how I would like. If I had know, I probably would have had it use Agility after Mega Arbok did its double attack, so the round would have worked just about the same mechanically speaking. Well, I imagine, at least. RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Dragonstrike - 07-27-2017 (07-27-2017, 06:28 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: I need to get out of the habit of just using your damage totals, and do my own calcs instead. It would at least prevent me from making accuracy and damage mistakes as often as I do... I do my damage calcs that way since I don't know the foe's vitality initially. They're perfectly usable, just take note of when I say it's base damage. That's when I haven't factored in the foe's vitality. I pointed out the vitality thing because while it does give me an advantage, I do still want this to feel fair. There's a reason I didn't point it out until after the battle, though The book actually has an example on how evasion works in that kind of scenario on page 46 (and that's also where they break down how each round's actions are ordered in general). Initiative order follows the normal flow still (1st set of actions for all pokemon, then the second, then the third, and so on, then the new round). On page 47, they expand upon that a little. I think the best way to think about it is each set of actions in a multi-action round is like a mini round in and of itself. There was no way that Fearow should have been able to use Agility without risking getting attacked since it wouldn't have had enough dice in its pool to use it as its third action. But again, it didn't matter in this case, so no big deal this time. RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Lord Windos - 07-27-2017 Haivng dinner atm, so I'm sorry that I can't update the game now. Be back in around 30 minutes or less! RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Dragonstrike - 07-27-2017 Wow, these cats are REALLY good at their jobs

And its currently relaxed right now, so its not utilizing its full capabilities. I also rolled REALLY poorly for Mew, so you have the devil luck in this case on top of that. Its not a realy spoiler to say that Mew has a 10 in every Attribute, Skill, and most Specialties. They are a Legendary, after all. RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Dragonstrike - 07-27-2017 Yeah, not going to be taking that thing out very easily...not in a fair fight, anyways. RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Lord Windos - 07-27-2017 You managed to successfully meet up with Mew without driving it off! Problem: its now curious about you. Very curious. Whether this is a good thing or not... RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Dragonstrike - 07-27-2017 Wow. This is also going a lot better than I had expected it to... You impressed it by spotting them first of all, then you revealed yourself to them on purpose after successfully sneaking up on them (albeit unintentionally, but it doesn't know that), your Weavile gave it one of its favorite berries, you were completely forthright and honest in your intentions, and you didn't do anything that would piss it off. Combine that with tis playful nature and a desire to see what so special about you, and you end up with this battle. Reiner is going places, eh? |
