RE: [Meta Thread] Dragonstrike's Pokerole Test Game: Mount Coronet Mystery - Spiritmon - 06-13-2019 (06-13-2019, 04:07 PM)Dragonstrike Wrote: Just waiting on how you're going to handle the Sneasel Gang before I can continue the encounter with Minyan, @Spiritmon. I had a busy day, I very soon will send the post Dragonstrike. RE: [Meta Thread] Dragonstrike's Pokerole Test Game: Mount Coronet Mystery - Lord Windos - 06-13-2019 You know, after seeing Zorn just being the best when he doesn't follow Ran's orders, he and I just might let him just do his own thing in battle for now on, so long as he doesn't try to murder someone without reason. I mean.....I'm just impressed and stunned he did so well, despite all the odds literally being stacked against him. Wow..... Ran's certainly going to treat his Mean Dragon for their windfall and performance, regardless of the outcome of the battle. They deserve it. RE: [Meta Thread] Dragonstrike's Pokerole Test Game: Mount Coronet Mystery - Lord Windos - 06-14-2019 So Randolph Gym Battle ends in his favor, after some difficulty curve balls, working my grey matter till it turned ever grayer, and what seemed to be some freaky good luck! And I have to say YES, OH FRICKING YEEESSS! That Gym Battle was genuinely stressful and nerve wracking for me throughout a big chuck of it, and it was not until the very end that I had moderate hopes of winning. You/Candice seemed to have one ordeal of a Pokemon after another in the beginning, before transitioning over to some good old fashion beat stick Pokemon to try and....well, beat Ran/me. Miss Jackie Frost certainly was not pull her punches very much with Ran, though that was sorta the point really. Seemed like Ran's fight against Candice on a whole was more like a puzzle for me to solve in order to be able to apply the force needed to prevail, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. That, and they were a few parts of the fight I feel were.......not good, to be diplomatic about it, which changed my perspective of the battle from 'Fun Challenge to get through' to 'Problem I need to solve in order to do what is needed' . Granted, I had fun 'solving' the Gym Fight, and it certainly makes it stand out to me and ended up making certain moments all the more epic (Like Diam stonewalling Weavile, and Zorn just doing so well, but I don't think I will grow too fond of these types of battle if they crop up on a regular basis. Every once in awhile seems okay to me for now, though. Overall, I'd say that I enjoyed this Gym Battle against Candice, even though it had its rough patches and its not kind of fun I was expecting to have. Good job, Dragonstrike! Now, I'm getting off for the morning, and continue later on. Toodles! PS: @Spiritmon , please get to your battle when you can, because otherwise none of us can progress to the 3rd set of Encounters of the day and continue with the main plot! RE: [Meta Thread] Dragonstrike's Pokerole Test Game: Mount Coronet Mystery - Spiritmon - 06-14-2019 Done. Man, its times like this I dislike very much this limitation of only type of move per round. It took ages to do write each dice roll accuracy/damage. And this will only make things more stressful in Gyms since it was like Windos say: Its way to much stressful since the foe can dodge everything without penality. Its unfair. Anyway, ready to see the results of the battle @Dragonstrike. RE: [Meta Thread] Dragonstrike's Pokerole Test Game: Mount Coronet Mystery - PhantomUnderYourDesk - 06-14-2019 It's not unfair, it's a different mechanic in a different universe that is supposed to bring a change of pace. Try to adapt to that ruling, and imagine if the foe knows a super-strong STAB-move that deals SE-damage on your Pokemon: Then I'd be thankful that they cannot spam this move to make short shrift with my defending Pokemon. Can't we please stop complaining and simply enjoy the Game itself? I guess...let's see how things will go. Ready when you are Dragonstrike. Dear, we both have legitimate complaints with the way Evasion is handled, and Move spam under Iron's rules never became much of a problem, as the opponent had access to it too and the Accuracy Penalty in his version prevented it from being abused too heavily. We know what it's like to have super strong Moves spammed at us from Iron's campaign, and Spirit from my own, yet we never really had much of a gripe with that since we could do the very same tactic ourselves to great as/greater effect. I'm still enjoying this game despite certain limitations and some mechanical choices, but that's NOT going to stop me from criticizing it when I think it's necessary and warranted. If I keep quiet when something bad comes up, then I just suffer for it and nothing is done about it, and more likely than not problems will only grow from that decision. This is a test game, so if their are faults I see or things I can comment on for Dragonstrike, then I'm going to do it, as we're all trying to decide what does and does not work, and make sure to nix the worse ideas in the final product. So no, I'm not going to stop complaining, if I feel the need to do so. I'll try not to be an ass about it or do it constantly, but if something comes up that I find deserves legitimate criticism for, then I'm going to criticize it. End of story. RE: [Meta Thread] Dragonstrike's Pokerole Test Game: Mount Coronet Mystery - PhantomUnderYourDesk - 06-14-2019 (06-14-2019, 12:53 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: (...) (...) Humm, possibly I worded something incorrectly as by NO means I was asking to shut up about things and be done with, that would be more mean than helpful. Constructive critique, with a highlight on 'constructive' is what helps and should be offered when it can, especially when this is just a TESTgame like you said, dear. It likely just pissed me off to call a mechanic 'unfair' and already really dislike it heavily after it kicked in once or at max. twice like Spirit expressed, that's kinda like giving it no chance at all in the first place. Somehow I'm actually kinda curious what can be done with the rule of 'you are not allowed to use a move more than once in a Round', I feel potential for unique Rounds of battle. We'll see how things go once my secret chara joins the stage and took part in a few battles, then we can talk more. RE: [Meta Thread] Dragonstrike's Pokerole Test Game: Mount Coronet Mystery - Dragonstrike - 06-14-2019 There are two things I'd like to say about high Accuracy + Evasion builds: - With Evasion as it is currently, typically, only very, very experienced trainers and pokemon will use that strategy in this game. It's a high level technique to be able to dance around slower foes that easily and still fight back with just as much tenacity. - Evasion and Clash focused builds are only truly effective against a single opponent. If there are multiple enemies attacking the same target, then they cannot possibly manage to avoid every single attack aimed in their direction without the help of some effective Cover. Of course, the players are free to exploit these mechanics as well. RE: [Meta Thread] Dragonstrike's Pokerole Test Game: Mount Coronet Mystery - Lord Windos - 06-14-2019 So, since you said the trip to Lake Acuity would entail a Pokemon Encounter + doing stuff at the lake proper itself, that means both Karen and Kogeki still have some stuff left to do in their 2nd Encounter, right? |
