I would say the Corebook, as I like the mechanic of transferring Pain around to other Targets! Heck, Arial would certain benefit being the recipient of the Move, if nothing else!

Alrighty then!  Sharing the Pain Penalties it is!

Though I should mention that it still isn't possible for a Pain Penalty greater than -3 with Pain Split alone.  I read up on the specifics of it a little.  It basically operates like the HP splitting in the games, but with Pain instead, and it lasts the entire scene instead of being an instantaneous effect.  So if Geigeroach were to get -1 Pain and use Pain Split on something with no pain, her target would have -1 Pain and she'd have none.  The instant the target has accumulated 2+ damage, however, they then both have -1 Pain.

So, in general...

Total Pain:   User's Pain:  Target's Pain:
-1                0                -1
-2               -1                -1
-3               -1                -2
-4               -2                -2
-5               -2                -3
-6               -3                -3

Basically, it works best if the user has accumulated -2 Pain themselves (they're at risk of getting KOed if they're at -3 Pain, obviously).

Or alternatively, Geigeroach can use it on Arial in a teamwork scenario where Arial is at low risk of getting attacked.  That way, he gets a +1 Strength buff right out of the gate as soon as Geigeroach accumulates 2+ damage, and Geigeroach isn't as crippled by Pain.  The downside to this is that Arial needs to accumulate a little Pain of his own to safely get to -2 Pain, and thus +2 Strength (basically meaning Geigeroach has half health or less, and Arial has taken at least 2 damage).  And as before, getting to -3 Pain/+3 Strength is risky business since at least one character would have to be at 1 HP (or KOed?) to do that if items aren't a factor.

Side Note: I also find it interesting that the attack has a note in the book specifically saying the attack does not affect current HP at all Tongue

Well, there is a way I been thinking to make Arial get buff of strengh. TPK have the power of three types of shoot, been the body shoot to cause pain in the target. Remember, any kind of damage TPK causes, its reflect on the user. Its just like what happened in the battle against Gyarados.

The Pain inflicted by the T.P.K. is also transferable via Pain Split, which for normal people would be a boon since they can offload some of their suffering onto their Pokémon, but for Arial ends up screwing him out of STR buffs. If the T.P.K. is not used- which would be the case in public/scrutinized matches, however, then Pain Split is more viable to offload Pain onto the madman (though it would have to be done discretely). Depends on the situation which method is more useful/convenient to utilize, really.

Pain Split is fairly counterproductive to optimizing that Strength buff, however.  What makes Pain Split valuable is taking away Pain Penalties from Geigeroach and giving it to something else so she doesn't have to deal with them as much.  If Arial stacks huuuge Pain Penalites on himself, they'd start getting shared with Geigeroach and start crippling her rolls quite heavily, even if she still has a lot of HP remaining.

So basically, there's no real way to take advantage of Pain Split to give Arial even more Pain unless Geigerach is the one accruing 'bonus' Pain. And she probably wouldn't appreciate becoming a pin cushion on purpose at all, no matter how 'helpful' it might be.

But didnt Masoquist ignore pain penalizations? For Arial and all his pokemons? Sure its have the dowside about -1 Defense but still very powerfull

Key words: Only his Pain, and only for him and his Pokémon. Giegeroach isn't his Pokémon, so any Pain he gains and shares it to her....well, that will suck for the big Bug.

Geigeroach isn't Arial's pokemon.  If she were his, Pain Split wouldn't exactly be very useful if it was used on him.

Using TPK and Pain Split separately from each other in this case seems to be the safe bet.  One lets Arial maximize his raw power while crippling his opponent (better against a single enemy), the other lets Geigeroach offload some of her Pain somewhere beneficial, letting her more easily use multiple actions (best when Arial is not a potential/easy target and he's not using TPK)

Oh. I understand. Any pokemon who dont have a bond or its not in Arial team if get the effects of masoquist...will accumulate pain and eventually this will might affect the dice of rolls...yikes! Its a smart weakness to be honest...

Yeap! Only Arial and his team benefits from Masochist, and anything else just suffers tremendously. Yikes indeed!

Keep in mind that if Pain Penalizations = the total number of Accuracy Dice you have for any one move WITHOUT Bonuses, then Arial or anyone else passes out for awhile. Since Arial has I believe 8-9 Dice for basic Attack Rolls, he can only get 8-9 STR Point before he passes out. That still can give a monsterous 11-12 STR to pass onto his Pokémon, but building up to that level is literally arduiously long, and exceeding the regular - 3 Pain has its own consequences...
