RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Spiritmon - 08-06-2018 Indeed. Create chaos and calamity is the last thing I want. Sorry if my words sounds to much...emotional and infuriated. Sometimes I get myself thinking about such thing. Yeah, I agree with both Dragonstrike, Phantom and you: As much I see its a too much harsh decision of Nintendo, as long the pokemon franchise belong to them they will still do what they want with them: Even if thats mean destroy other people projects. The news about Pokemon Prism be cancelled even when the guy work in such project for 8 years filled me with rage and indignation (its a mortal flaw of me: When I see injustice I feel so much indignation and rage I sometimes cant control myself). *Sigh* Forgive my words Windos. I will stop talking about that topic. I would prefer talk about the Alternative Mega Gyarados instead of this topic. Talking about Nintendo course of bussiness its something who make me feel not so good. I just don't want either you, Phantom, or Dragonstrike getting up in arms over it. I am fairly....displeased about Nintendo flexing its clot against those that pose zero threat to it, financially or otherwise, but seeing how that fighting them on the matter is outright suicidal in the political sense....its a fool's errand. All we can do is complain, and hope that enough voices do so that they have to re-think their practices, else face a drop in profits as consumers cease business with them. No need to apologize for me about this, mate, and you don't have to stop sharing your opinion if that is what you want to do. Like I said, I welcome free discussion on this topic, no matter how impassioned or critical it may be. Just don't let it overwhelm you reasoning and good decorum, alright? You can save in front of the delivery man and soft reset for shiny and/or nature. I believe it's a fixed chance that's unaffected by Shiny Charm like the prior ones as well. And yes, this one is a huge game changer for collectors, breeders, and battlers alike. It's nice that the pokemon got access to a new tool that was previously unavailable to it. And now we can exploit it to our hearts' content! ![]() If you want to see what the shiny looks like beforehand so you know what colors to look for, Narshyl linked a pic in the UCC Discord recently. RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Lord Windos - 08-07-2018 (08-07-2018, 12:00 AM)Dragonstrike Wrote: You can save in front of the delivery man and soft reset for shiny and/or nature. The best part is that the Guide on Encartress is hardly invalidated by this game changer, as all that's needed is a few tweaks on the last set to be up to standard! I'm just looking for a diff. color than what I've been commonly seeing, but I'll go check it out! RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Dragonstrike - 08-07-2018 I do agree that Nintendo can be a little too harsh at times with copyright enforcement. Youtubers used to have a lot of trouble with that a few years back. Still do to this day on ocassion iirc. Prism and Uranium both getting C&Ded was definitely a sad thing to hear since they both had almost 10 years of (on and off) work put into them. These things happen, though. And I think a part of the reason why they were slammed on so hard after their 15 minutes of fame was because if they weren't shut down, Nintendo couldn't guarantee these freelancing developers went on to make another game using copyrighted stuff. And another. And another... I love me some good fan works. Imitation is often the best kind of flattery when done well, after all. Imitate it too well, though, and do it for less than what the original is being offered for...well, that can cause problems for the original. There's a fine line between fair use and copyright infringment, unfortunately. The best you can do to not cross the line while toeing it is to do it with the understanding that you're not the one who decides where that line is, and avoid drawing too much attention from the ones who do. Phoenix Rising, Azurite, Sage...that's exactly what they're all doing right now. They've all gone to ground in some fashion since the Uranium and Prism takedowns. Sage is probably the most extreme of them since their subreddit isn't public anymore. Azurite sees ocassional updates on development progress, but they're few and far between. PR has the demo out, and they're open about the precautions they've taken (including removing 'Pokemon' from the game's title). Lke it or not, the copyright claims have made a strong impact on how fans create new content. But if it means we have a better understanding of where Nintendo draws that line in the sand, is that entirely a bad thing? RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Dragonstrike - 08-07-2018 (08-07-2018, 12:04 AM)Lord Windos Wrote: The best part is that the Guide on Encartress is hardly invalidated by this game changer, as all that's needed is a few tweaks on the last set to be up to standard! Yeah, all its other playstyles are definitely still valid. You have bulky, Rock Polish sweeper, wall breaker...yeah, seriously. I hadn't really looked at it in awhile, so that 110 Sp. Atk it has was a bit of a shocking refresher. For some reason, I didn't remember it being that strong. And now it has another way to boost, and just enough speed to be able to take full advantage of it against even some of Uranium's fastest 'mons, unlike poor Cocancer. RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Spiritmon - 08-07-2018 If you permit me Dragon I would like to put a point in your first line: Nintendo its not a little to harsh with copryright enforcement. They are to much harsh with copryright enforcement. Yeah, many Youtubers have trouble with Nintendo in the past. I still remember a long time ago, Nintendo try to make a deal with Youtube this: If any player make some sort of video using any kind of image of Nintendo games, they will have to pay a high tax to maintain it. Now if thats not abuse of power, I dont know what is. Even so, thats still not right to do. But like you say, bussiness go in first place. Even more for Nintendo. But I still think its a slap in the face to the fans who indeed likes Nintendo games. Sorry, but to me there is no excuse for such imoral methods, not matter how much in the right they are. Well, I agree I like some fanworks. The fan stories made by its quite interesting. Sometimes, far better then the plot of official games made by Nintendo. Thats what attract me in Pokemon Uranium, the plot and lore of the story itself who is more mature than the official games. The plot in other official games of Nintendo dont atract me to much. But I must there is indeed some fan games it would best left without exist. You see? Those games was left because of the fear about be takedown by Nintendo and thats why I dont like this attitude. As much they are in their right. I like Gamefreak and Nintendo for what they create: Pokemon, Zelda, Metroid, Splatoon, Mario, etc. What I hate its the way they threat people who share passion and love for they franchise. About the way they crush people projects and sometimes dreams. Even when they not make any kinda of money making THESE projects. Even worse, with franchises they have left for a long time ago, like Metroid who was left in the dark for a long time and only now they make the new game. But then again, thats just my opinion. Like or not, words will not change the reality: They not gonna change the ways they doing bussiness. As long they gain money with that franchises, they will follow the path they are now. They will never change. Only with a huge bang who would force them to change it would make effect. Or in the way the "fans" who they threat so baddly abbandon then once and for all. Lets put a rock in this topic for now. I think it is...unfair to use Windos thread to discuss such topic...And I also tired of talk such topic... RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Mikaruge108 - 08-07-2018 One last thing before getting back on topic: From what I've heard, Game Freak themselves don't mind the fangames; if I remember correctly, they are in fact happy that fans enjoy their games enough to make the games, it's the lawyers that are not happy with what we, the fan-game community do. RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Dragonstrike - 08-07-2018 (08-07-2018, 08:33 AM)Mikaruge108 Wrote: One last thing before getting back on topic: From what I've heard, Game Freak themselves don't mind the fangames; if I remember correctly, they are in fact happy that fans enjoy their games enough to make the games, it's the lawyers that are not happy with what we, the fan-game community do. Yup yup. Even C&Ded, work on these fan games is not wasted. Sure, ya need to dodge a few bullets, but the ones that do really well can look particularly good on a resume, ironically. I believe Involuntary Twitch mentioned sending in an application when that ama popped up on the subreddit. Don't know how that turned out in the end, but iirc, Nintendo and/or Game Freak do actually encourage those who make fan games to apply for the actual jobs. |
