RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Lord Windos - 11-12-2018 In the middle of studying, so I'll be brief and say that I wouldn't mind waiting until after Iron's campaign is through to start playing yours. Gives you even more time to iron out the details and mechanics , it won't be competing for anyone's attention/time on the forums (ideally) , and it would allows Iron and/or Phantom to join up too like you said. Plus, more players to.....well, play with and have each other's back is almost always a good thing! As for the time gap between test and full fledged campaigns, I don't particular mind if its either short or long. I'll get to updating my campaign on Friday, as I am still inundated with work/studying. Sorry for the massive delay, mates.... RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Spiritmon - 11-12-2018 My opinion is the same as Windos. I don't mind waiting with Iron campaign to finish it and we can bring more people to the game. RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - PhantomUnderYourDesk - 11-12-2018 Ah, I prefer to wait until the Main Journey taking place in the Skull Ruins Campaign is wrapped up before anything new starts as well. I have a some sort of dislike for splitting my attention by playing in two different worlds/scenarios or a two diverging characters and wouldn't have the time nor stamina to bring up authentic input fast enough or in a quality that I'd be happy with, and keeping track of everything (for example by update-reading myself) would eat up too much time for me - I have various other projects going, sometimes more and sometimes less, and need breathers and sleep as well. ^^ I'm fine with participating in a test-run, but the chances that I'll join in the main run are pretty low. RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Dragonstrike - 11-12-2018 Honestly, my primary concern with postponing the test run until after Skull Ruins is that it won't be much of a 'test' by that point. I'm planning for the test run to work somewhat differently from the rest of the campaign so I can try out a few of the mechanics with everything still being somewhat in familiar territory (as I want to do something different with my campaign, and I can't really emphasize that enough), but still transition into the main campaign for those who want to carry over some select stuff. Starting from scratch with a completely different character would be an option too, though, as well as dropping out entirely. Nor would participating in the test game be a requirement to be one of the PCs that opens the main campaign, obviously. One benefit to holding the test game sooner is it'll give me some feedback on how everything's working and if I need to improve/streamline some of the mechanics for the main campaign. That might be easier to do while Skull Ruins is still in progress since I'll probably have more time to plan in that case. TLDR; I'm thinking it might flow a little better if there's more time to plan out the improvements and streamlining after running the test game. I personally wouldn't want to put the campaign on a hiatus mid-story before it's even truly begun just because I need to spend a few weeks at most processing any feedback I've gotten. That's just my opinion though, I guess. RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Lord Windos - 11-12-2018 Hmm.....well, in that case, I'm fine with participating in the test game sooner rather than later, but I'd need some time to prepare one of my character ideas for it. Right now I've been more or less focused on Terra or my own campaign (When I have the time for it....), so I haven't really fleshed out anything definate just yet. RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Dragonstrike - 11-12-2018 (11-12-2018, 12:34 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: Hmm.....well, in that case, I'm fine with participating in the test game sooner rather than later, but I'd need some time to prepare one of my character ideas for it. There'll be some time to do so, easily. I want to wait for Celedon to finish first, then have some time to wind down from it finishing and make some final plans for the test game. RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Lord Windos - 11-16-2018 Alright mates, I'm about ready to FINALLY start wrapping things up with this segment of my campaign! Give me an half an hour to finish some errands, and then Imma going to start writting! RE: [Meta thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure : Celadon City Vandels - Dragonstrike - 11-16-2018 Here's a random tidbit of trivia from LGPE: there's no PCs in the Pokemon Centers. Instead, the trainers all access their PC boxes from a device they carry around in their bags! Still only allowed to carry around 6 pokemon at a time, but you can swap which pokemon are on your team on the fly no matter where you are! Honestly, I never thought I'd see something like what the Rockets in this campaign use in a (technically) mainline pokemon game... While I know Nintendo hasn't been reading my camapaign (As I know they'd probably CDC my and this entire site's arse), its seems like they've been cribbing some of my ideas in a different way. I wonder if the Pokemon you put in the PC in LGPE heals up like they do in every other mainline game, though. If that is the case, then Pokemon Centers have been unceremoniously rendered mostly obsolete , besides doubling as Pokemarts or access to Trading/Online features, and Healing Items become even less of a necessity than ever regardless a person keeps entire boxes of battle ready Pokemon to swap on the fly. They do not for balance purposes (which ironically makes it even more similar to the Rockets' devices ) I'm sure this is all just a coincidence, though.Pokemarts are also separate from the Centers again since LGPE is a revisit of Kanto's original story. Online features can also be accessed from anywhere in the world via the menus, rather than having to go to a set location. Kinda like Festival Plaza/PSS. I've not tried them out yet to see how they compare, though. It seems the anywhere in the world access for the online is a feature that's going to be staying, thankfully. I think it's the first feature in a mainline series game that might actually survive more than 2 generations max (LGPE are still technically gen 7 despite having access to the Meltan line. Thank goodness if the accessibility stays, though) Well, that, and the vague chart that shows how many EVs your pokemon has accumulated in which stats. Grinding levels in LGPE is actually reeaaaalllly time consuming, so having a lot of battle ready pokemon boxed without being underleveled for the boss fights is actually quite hard/time consuming. The fastest way to grind is to catch pokemon (and do it really well if possible). Wild pokemon can actually give as much as a single trainer owned pokemon if you're okay at catching, and waaaayyy more if you're amazing at it (getting amazing catches is really hard, though, since you have to not only nail the throw on the first attempt, you have to catch the pokemon on the first attempt, too). The game heavily emphasizes catching pokemon en masse for a variety of reasons. |
