Team Discussion - Wolf93 - 09-17-2016

This is my first competitive team-idea in Uranium and because of the masses of new Pokemon and possibilities I would like to have some thoughts and advices.

Pokemon: Inflagetah
 - item: Inflagetite
 - ability: Acceleration
 - nature: Adamant
 - ev: 252 Atk/Spd, 6 HP
   - Flame Impact
   - Earthquake
   - U-Turn
   - Taunt

Pokemon: Oblivicorn
 - item: Focus-Sash
 - ability: Moldbreaker
 - nature: Jolly
 - ev: 252 Atk/Spd, 6 HP
   - Play Rough
   - Sudden Strike
   - Pursuit
   - U-Turn

Pokemon: Nucleon
 - item: Choice Scarf
 - ability: Atomizate
 - nature: Modest
 - ev: 252 SpAtk/Spd, 6HP
   - Hyper Voice
   - Shadow Ball
   - quick attack
   - Trick

Pokemon: Fafninter
 - item: Leftovers
 - ability: Fur Coat
 - nature:
 - ev: 252 HP/Def, 6 atk
   - Dragon Tail
   - Draco Meteor/Toxic
   - Ice Shard
   - Stealth Rocks

Pokemon: Sylveon
 - item: Sitrusberry
 - ability: Cute Charm
 - nature:
 - ev: 252 HP/SpDef, 6 SpAtk
   - Moon Blast
   - Protect
   - Wish
   - Heal Bell

Pokemon: Jerbolta
 - item: Choice Specs
 - ability: Quick Charge
 - nature: Timid
 - ev: 252 SpAtk/Spd, 6HP
   - Volt Switch
   - Earthpower
   - HP(Ice)/Thunderbolt/Shadowball
   - Trick

Inflagetah serves as Lead and is able to prevent an opponent from setting up Stealth Rocks, while also giving offensive pressure.
Oblivicorn is thought to revenge kill Nucleon, being able to OHKO it with Pursiut if it´s being switched out or if it stays survive with Sash and KO in the following round with Sudden Strike. Mold breaker is against Fafninter´s Fur Coat.
Nucleon is pretty Obvious the standard sweeper.
Fafninter is a physical wall, capable of setting Stealth Rocks and shuffeling the opponent with Dragon Tail. Draco Meteor to have at least one attack with some damage, Toxic for even more damage over time. Ice shard for finishing weakened enemys.
Sylveon is a classic special wall and cleric, providing recovery for the team, especially Fafninter.
Jerbolta is something I´m not sure about, but verry interesting thanks to Quick Charge. Volt Switch as main attack to instantly switching with good damage, Earthpower as second STAB, trick to cripple foes. In the 3rd slot I would feel best with HP(ice), but this might be a bit hard to breed. Thunderbolt would be an electric STAB to use if Jerbolta should stay in, Shadowball could hit Ghost and Psychic tipes effectivly, but I´m not sure how present they are currently.

Any help and critics are welcome Smile

Your team is great, most of the members can beat Scarf Nucleon without the need of switching, and there's Sylveon to switch against Yatagaryu, and Fafninter to switch against Inflagetah.
You might have a bit of difficulty against Steel types(especially Metalynx, S51-A, and Lanthan), Syrentide and Laissure but that's only the threats I came up with and you do have what you need to beat them, so it's not a big problem, I think.

Might have a problem against bulkier teams, or ones that use Trick Room, but other than that, this look like a solid team.

Just realized both of my walls are weak to steel, at least Inflagetah and Jerbolta provide offensive coverage against steel.
A problem I see are Stealth Rocks. Is there a list of Pokemon that can learn Defog?

Ratfiti and its evolution, but they are not too strong. Getting rid of Hazards in this game really difficult, so its better to prevent them from coming up at all, rather than going out to find a 'mon that can remove them.

RE: Team Discussion - poweroftibarn - 09-18-2016

Not exactly a fan of your team, tbh.

Inflagetah can function as an anti-lead, but it can do better things. The space that Taunt takes up can be replaced with Swords Dance or Espeed. If you're looking for a good anti-lead lead, give Astronite a try. It has everything you could want from an anti-lead, including Stealth Rock, Taunt, and even Explosion. If you want other ways to prevent hazards, try mons with Magic Bounce, such as Espeon or M-Kiricorn.

The problem with your sash idea for Oblivicorn is that even if you attempt to prevent your opponent from setting up hazards in the first place, that doesn't necessarily mean that they won't have hazards up. Even with out hazards, all it takes is just one tick of damage from priority, status, even residual damage from sandstorm/hail and your sash is useless. If you're looking to make use of Focus Sash, try Winotinger - it has Magic Guard, which prevents it from taking residual damage, making it much more reliable. Honestly, if you're so desperate for Nucleon counters to the point where you are willing to rely on gimmicks, then you might as well use Gararewl. Nucleon can't do much against that thing.

Your Nucleon set is decent enough, but HP Fire would be appreciated. Quick Attack is fairly useless on scarf spatk Nucleon.

Fafninter has decent defensive stats thanks to it's Fur Coat ability. Other than that, not much favors Fafninter in the defense category - it has terrible defensive typing and no access to reliable recovery. You're better off running a Dragon Dance or Bulk Up set on Fafninter. If you're looking for a good mon to set up hazards with, try Laissure. While it doesn't have Fur Coat, it does have Intimidate, higher base defense, and much better defensive typing. On top of that, it gets Spikes as well as Stealth Rock, and thanks to the combined power of 125 base Attack and 140 BP Subduction, it can hit a lot harder too. Overall, Laissure does everything this set does, only better. Fafninter is a good mon, but it's better put to use in different ways.

Why is Sylveon holding a Sitrus Berry? Item clause isn't a thing in most competitive enviroments. Just give it Leftovers.

Quick Charge is an interesting ability... until you realize that the mon it's on is utter garbage. You would honestly be better off using just about anything else. I mean, you already have lots of priority on your team, and Nucleon is a perfectly competent special attacker, so it's not like this thing adds anything to your team. If you want another special revenge killer, (not that you need another one, since you already have Nucleon) then you could try out Alpico. It's way better than this thing. Technician on a special attacker is kind of broken since it gives you 90 BP Hidden Power, and the fact that it's a Fairy makes it even better.

List of Pokemon that can learn Defog:

Hazma.

... Yeah, hazard removal in this game is pessimistic. No one in the game gets rapid spin, and there are only two users of defog, Hazma and Haptera. Haptera unfortunately gets it by egg move, which of course there are no parents to get it from.

Aside from that your team looks pretty good but could use a few edits. I second swapping taunt of inflagetah with swords dance, but if you feel entry hazards are that much of a problem then keep it. Put lefties on Sylveon and swap Jerbolta with something better, the only thing good about that mon is its ability and nothing else, sadly.

Also, get Sylveon's hidden ability Pixilate and swap moonblast with hyper voice, that'll work much better. For a replacement to Jerbolta, try Cassnail for an additional wall or Actan for a speedy physical attacker. IMO though, I think you should replace Jerbola with Astronite, as mentioned above, who gets access to Taunt and will free up a Stealth rock slot for your Fafinter.
