Pokemon Eligible for Little Cup - Dragonstrike - 06-13-2017 Alright, so how many of you are familiar with this format of battling? This is one of the more obscure tiers in Smogon rules, originating from a Rule Set introduced in Pokemon Stadium 2 (which also appeared in Gen 4 Local Battles and Pokemon Battle Revolution). Here's the base rules: - All pokemon must be level 5 or lower. - All pokemon must be the lowest evolution stage of the line - Sonic Boom and Dragon Rage are banned due to their ability to one and 2 hit KO the entire metagame. This results in a vastly different meta where stats close to and above 20 are considered god tier. Oran Berries are amazing items, restoring more HP than Sitrus Berries. Berry Juices are often a full heal though, and Oran Berries are only used if Berry Juice isn't an option or there's a specific niche that only an actual berry can fill. EVs and IVs have a drastically different overall effect on stats, requiring many more EVs to raise stats by a single point. Eviolite is ridiculously common because everything can use it. The item variety in LC is staggeringly low. Genderless and Male only pokemon struggle to find places in this meta since moves inherited through breeding are a huge deal at such low levels (and also because Uranium is using the pre gen 7 style move relearner). Pokemon that cannot be Female find themselves relying on TMs and Tutors if they hope to be viable. For more details on how it all fits together, I recommend checking out Smogon's guide to LC's intricacies. I'm not here to analyze any LC eligible pokemon yet, but I have taken a look at what's eligible for it in the first place. Here's the full list: Orchynx Raptorch Eletux Chyinmunk Birbie Cubbug Barewl Grozard Tonemy Dunsparce (it can thank Dunseraph for that. Needs watching.) Fortog Magikarp Feleng Mankey Owten Lotad Smore Brailip Ekans Tancoon Sponee Pahar Comite (Genderless) Mareep Baashaun Tricwe Costraw Lunapup Minyan Buizel Modrille Gligar (currently banned in Gen 7 LC) Cocaran Corsola (thanks to Corsoreef. Needs watching.) Tubjaw Cassnail Nupin (Genderless) Cottonee Misdreavus (currently banned in Gen 7 LC) Glaslug S51 (Genderless) Paraudio Flager Chimical Tikiki Unymph Chicoatl Snopach Slothohm Frynai Selkid Spritzee Jackdeary Eevee Ratsy Masking Chupacho Linkite (Genderless) Pufluff Colarva Fafurr Shrimputy Swabone Jungore Hagoop Xenomite (Only Nuclear pokemon in the entire metagame. Needs watching.) Minicorn Luxi Sheebit Volchik Devimp EDIT: There's actually a few more pokemon that go on this list. However, they're all old Mystery Gifts, and none of them can currently be bred to obtain more of them or get their high level/egg moves, so they're dependent on TMs and Tutors for their movepools. Halloween Minyan (Has Speed Boost as its ability, always a Jolly nature) Halloween Cocaran (Has Filter as its ability, always an Impish nature) Easter Jackdeary (Has Pixilate as its Ability, and can use Egg Bomb and Softboiled) N-Pahar (is Fire/Nuclear, knows Half Life and Nuclear Wind, Ability is Flame Body. Needs watching since it's the only Nuclear type usable in LC besides Xenomite) The Halloween Lunapup and Christmas Pufluff are also usable, but there's nothing particularly special about them besides their reskinned sprites. |
