RE: [Meta Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows - Lord Windos - 04-03-2021 Hey Dragonstrike, wondering how the new Monster Hunter compares to MHW. Don't have a Switch to play it (or all that much money to buy it if its also on PC), but if its anything interesting I wouldn't mind watching some videos on it. RE: [Meta Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows - Dragonstrike - 04-03-2021 (04-03-2021, 03:16 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: Hey Dragonstrike, wondering how the new Monster Hunter compares to MHW. With regards to PC, Rise is going to be released on that platform next year, so there's plenty of time to save up for it if you want to take a stab at it (or a bash. I'm all for weapon equality). I've been having a blast with MHR so far. I've gone through all the currently available single player content already. The new monsters and wirebug mechanics are a breath of fresh air after exhausting World's content, and it's a generally smooth experience. The verticality and wall climbing also promotes exploring the maps far more than previous titles have, and the core gameplay loop is still as strong as ever. I definitely think it's a little easier to get into than World, though it still has the 'gotta put in the time to learn' effect that all the MH games have. And its art style looks very good and the music is amazing. Overall, it definitely deserves all the great review scores it's been getting, imo. Just as good as World, if not better in some areas. And now that you've posted here and reminded me about this, note to self: work on the next game thread post after dinner today. Always been hesitant to enter the MH Series due to the whole 'Time to Learn' commitment, but I like the thought of a game that you can just sink your teeth into and chew for a good long time. I'll definately watch a few videos and guides now to see how it works, thanks mate! What's your favorite part about the Monster Hunter series, beyond the music? Is it the monsters themselves, the environs, or some other quality that elludes me now? I'll definately watch a few videos and guides now to see how it works, thanks mate! I'd have to say my favorite part is the action when you actually start getting into the hunts and get your game really going. Early game monster hunter can be a little bit slow as you get your gear and items together and learn about all the systems and menus, but by the time you reach the late game, you're often running hunts like a well oiled machine, and it's incredibly addictive to be taking down these massive beasts (or dragons, serpents, spiders...) one after another (sometimes literally). Similar to Dark Souls, it feels especially rewarding to take down a particularly difficult big bad, particularly if you'd been having trouble with things previously. But again, early game MH can feel like a massive slog, particularly for newcomers. There's lots of menus that you need to peruse and figure out how to use, tutorials galore (or a distinct lack of them), you need to do most of your gathering by hand at first (though most of it can be automated later), and the games are far from easy. As a whole, MH is a slower and more deliberate series than most action games, and that's the thing that most frequently tends to turn off newcomers from joining the hunt long term. But do the busywork and put in the effort, and it's an experience like few others! (it also helps if you have a friend who plays the games and can show you the ropes) Oh, and if you want to try jumping into the series sooner rather than later, World's not the only non-switch game with active online multiplayer. 4 Ultimate on the 3DS still sees a fair amount of activity as well. It's a bit clunkier than the more recent MHs due to being a bit more traditional, but it's still very, very good. RE: [Meta Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows - Spiritmon - 04-05-2021 Uh @no one? Don't want to sound rude but could you please send your post so we can continue our travel in the Mystery Dungeon and beatdown Machamp? RE: [Meta Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows - no one - 04-06-2021 Sorry about the delay. I was trying to think of what to say, and I couldn't really decide. I'll post in a minute. RE: [Meta Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows - Spiritmon - 04-08-2021 Huh. Did you guys know there is actually a Special human race in D&D called Kalashar? They are humans bound to spirits from some dream realm. Pretty interesting. I normally avoid play Human or Elf, but this Kalashar make me open a exception. The possibilities of roleplay is pretty cool since you could have two souls inside of you. RE: [Meta Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows - no one - 04-09-2021 I have heard of them actually. It's an intriguing concept. And it is pretty awesome. And they get a bonus in Wisdom and Charisma. They make good Bards, Sorcerers, Warlock, Paladins, Clerics, Rangers and Druids. In terms of roleplay maybe Dream Druid is the one who makes more sense. Since Dream Druid have a strong connection to the Dream Realm and Kalashar have spirits from there bound to them. I think Kalashar would a choice of race I would consider to play in some future campaign. |
