...not a great day so far :/
You could always go down the Right Bastard Path, like Ventus had and has well trodened at this point, if you don't want this Encounter completely squandered.
*Said character appears and ruefully smiles, extending a hand out to Dragonstrike and Nathan*
Well?

*shrugs* Try to see it from the positive viewpoint: You got to see and even get close to a super-rare Pokemon and its young, that's certainly something. And none of your Pokemon got hurt much in the Encounter. No storytime then from Shiva, but maybe it'll be cool to mention the encounter to her. Please!
Yes, ready for the next Encounter - as said, if it hasn't ran away Shiva will investigate this Nuzleaf, if it has.... Then I'm not quite sure yet what to do, but probably burrow Ven's digging tools and mine some rare metals myself.

It is, but eh. Nathan might mention it in passing later if everyone starts talking about what they encountered.

*Ventus gives Dragonstrike a radiant smile for his refusal as they lowered their hand to their side, extremely glad and heartened by his choice to remain moral and just, before vanishing*
So be it! Nothing wrong with being the moral paragon in my opinion or Ven's, given how short in supply that could be in the future!

And I doubt Ventus would appreciate a family being separated, either...

That too, that too! He'd probably would be....upset with Nathan if they did go through with doing that and gifting them to him, so I guess everything went well enough in the end. Except that Nathan didn't get anything out of that Encounter, but they can't be all winners.

Also see it from yet another more positive viewpoint: Your Encounter won't take any longer and stalls us, we can eventually continue.

I just want to get a move on from this already so we can stop discussing it because it's a currently relevant topic.
