Nothing you say or do will ever change that Nathan, and I am sincerely sorry for that..." Ventus quietly say, loud enough only for the people surrounding him to hear.

His friend's temper helped extinguish his own, but all it left him was a knowing saddeness in his gut. What he said was absolutely true: he would do any and everything to protect his family, no matter the cost. He'd lost to much in his life, been through to much pain to allow even the slightest chance of malady to befall his close friends, even if he has to bloody his hand to do so. Still....he heard what Shiva told him, so maybe it would be best to relent on his jihad. " If you truelly wish of me not to take that man's life, however, I will refrain from doing so. If you die because of this, it will hurt me far more than you can comprehead, but I rather you be happy with me than forever scorn me for my protectiveness..."

"That's just a recipe for disaster waiting to happen, you know.  Thank you for showing some lenience, though.  I don't expect you to change, but you DO need to calm down.  I promise you that I won't be putting myself in harm's way needlessly.  In turn, you need to avoid getting into massive trouble.  The last thing I want to see is for you to lose your Trainer's License to the League, or worse, because of reckless actions.  I'm not worried about whatever reasons you have for acting like that so much as how much trouble those actions could get us all in.  Big picture, Ventus, big picture.  Remember that.  I hope that's the last time I have to remind you."

"To answer the earlier question, Shiva, I don't really have any plans for what happens to this Pinsir.  Brutal trainer or no, I don't wish to separate it from its trainer if it has a strong enough bond with him to Mega Evolve.  The League will likely just return the pokemon to him when he comes for it.  I've asked Nurse Joy to notify me when that happens.  I don't expect them to return the Mega Stone, though.  Which is why we need to get this 'Sage' to turn it in ASAP if he hasn't already.  I do not want that trainer getting back access to that power so easily since he abused it, nor do I wish to trust a complete stranger who randomly and lethally attacks what could be innocent bystanders with the potential for such power.  And it serves as the final nail in the coffin that we did indeed face a Mega Pinsir, and not a normal one."

He let out a long suffering sigh at Nathan 'calm down' comment, not exactly feeling that the boy truly could comprehead the depth of anger and despair. Even with Kirlia acting as his intermediary, it seems that he is missing the main point behind his current burnt out mood. "Nathan, asking me to calm down after today's events is a useless action. I'm too riled up for that to happen without some meditation on my part, but I still have complete control over my actions regardless of how emotional I get. As I said, I am not concern with the consequence of my actions, so long as you, Shiva, Valder, and all our Pokémon are protected. In a way, I am thinking of the big picture; its just not the same one as yours, unfortunately. Besides, any possible crime I commit will fall squarely unto me, and I can always claim that I force you all to serve me under penalty of death to clear your names," Ventus responded, giving Nathan a long stare, before dropping his head into his lap.

"Enough about me, though; there is time enough on our journey to talk about myself in depth later. Right now, we have to figure out what we are going to do about the Scimitars and that secret passage under the Genesect statue. Going in without a plan against either possibility is foolish, so if of you have any suggestion on how to proceed, it would be best to bring them forward now. Since Sage is not here with us right now, worrying about the Mega Stone's fate is fruitless right this instance, so let's turn our thoughts on a matter that we can solve in the short term..."

'Consequences be damned, eh?  Seems he's missing the point I'm trying to make, still.  Protection is all well and good, but it doesn't do a whole lot of good if taken too far...'

Nathan doesn't voice that, though.  Better to let the topic drop for now.  And that last part...  "Wait, what'd you say about the Genesect statue and the Scimitars, again?  Sorry, I must have missed it due to being distracted..."

Running a hand across his face in a brief flash of weariness, he calmly recited what he said earlier to Nathan once more. He doesn't have edicat memory, but he was able to quickly recall the conversation almost verbatim due to the small amount of rehearsing he did for it.

"Well, first of all, they wouldn't just leave the entrance to their base exposed like that, right?  Is there some kind of system that closes the door behind you? I can't imagine retrieving the key would be simple if it's on top of the very thing covering the entrance."

"The entrance appears to operate based on the Drive System. To access it, you need to swap out the Normal Drive that is present in the statue with the Burn Drive I have, and after a few moment the statue reacts and moves out of the way. You have to be carefull, however, when switching out the Drive to have a firm grip on them, as a shute opens up to capture the discarded data drive. "Yeah, that sounds like a way for them to retrieve the key and cover up the entrance after they've used it.  Unless there's a way to open it from the other side, we'd be stuck if we went down there...it certainly explains why all the other Drives disappeared...the builders of that statue kept them all for themselves because they're used as keys or similar...that orange one is just for show to cover up what they were actually doing..."

Nathan thinks for another moment...

"We probably have to inform Lumin of this.  Tell him about the underwater door and the statue's real purpose, as well as where you found that red Drive...there's no telling what we'll find down there.  If it's a base of sorts, I'm not sure we'd be strong enough to drive its occupants out.  If it's a passage, there's no telling where it might come out...it probably runs as far as Chicory Lake...as loathe as I am to say it, we're not heroes.  We're not Red, Ethan, May, Lukas, nor Hilbert.  I want to go in there and fight them, yes, but after today...I'm really not so sure if we'd be ready to take on that kind of challenge...and I doubt Lumin would let us get involved, either...

"Besides, we can't go anywhere tonight.  I need to wait for Princess to be healed.  I really think informing the Chief might be the best course of action, though.  He's not going to be happy to hear there's a secret base or passage in his town, but...maybe it will help him track down that trainer as well..."

Nathan pauses again, thinking.

"Oh yeah, speaking of Genesect, I think it's about time you spilled the beans on that since you've offered to tell both me and Shiva about that."

Not enthused by the thought of the Ranger preventing them from investigating the Scimitars any further, he could not argue that Nathan made very strong points. "I don't like the thought of us being barred from future investigations, but letting Lumen know about what has been occurring under his nose is the smartest decision. It would certainly assist in clearing my name with him, for one thing, and having a contigent of police officers smoking out those mages is a comforting thought indeed. ...All those legendary trainers were not born heros, Nathan. The role was thrusted upon them by events outside there control, and instead of buckling under the weight of that title, their all rose- excelled, even- to the occasion and rescued their region from tyrannical disaster. Don't discount yourself yet, as your journey has only just began, and there are still battles you have to face as well," Ven told the young trainer, voicing his assent to the plan of action, as well as trying to not let him despair over his recent failures. If there was anyone that needed to beat themselves over their action, it was him.

Then, Nathan spoke up about his connection to Genesect. Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, he reached into his satchel and pulled out a black book with the name "Project Silverfish" on its cover. Looking around, he furtively searched their current location with prying eyes, before standing up and motioning the group to follow him. Leading them to one of the private rooms in the center, he closed the door, locked it, and did a thorough sweep of the room itself for bugs/listening devices. Sastified that no one was listening on them, he motion everyone to sit around the black table, and took his seat in a comfortable arm chair.

"I'm sorry for leading you all here and my suspect behavior, but I had to be certain that no one but us would be able to listen in on us. Before I start, what I am about to reveal to you is extremely classified information, to such an extent that if word of this gets to a Unovian Offical, we could all face live in prison for leaking critical information. To hear what I have to say about Genesect, I need each and everyone of you to swear a vow of secrecy. Shiva has already done so, and Valder is under contract not to disclose any of my secrets, so the only remaining person that has yet to promise is you, Nathan. Will you swear upon your life that you will never reveal what I am about to tell you, no matter what befalls you?"

Ventus said all of this in a dead serious tone of voice, staring down the young trainer to convey the severity of the situation.

Nathan's actually surprisingly non-chalant about this.  "I thought we'd established something like this already, no?  But fine, whatever.  You have my word.  Considering Genesect's origins, I'm not surprised by this, to be honest.  Kirlia, you have the same understanding, yes?"  The psychic pokemon nods in affirmation.  Secrets are nothing new to him, after all.

Music: The Scientist Reveals the Truth

Exhaling the breath he had been holding, Ventus gave the young trainer a small smile. "You are right, of course, but I wanted to reinterate the severity of the information I'm about to revel. Now that everyone is of one mind, I'll began. Hold all questions until I am finished speaking about this, as I want you all to be fully aware of my involvement with Genesect." The researcher then placed the black book on the table, and flipped it open for everyone to see what was on the first page.

It was a full page picture, shot length wise in high definition. In the photo was Ventus himself, dressed in a bright white labcoat, with a serene expression on his face. He was standing ramrod straights, one hand resting by his in a relaxed manner.
The other, however, was resting up against a tall, purple metallic structure. As everyone eyes travel up the picture, trying  to figure out what that object was, their eye found it at last.

Croaching right beside the eccentric researcher was Genesect, in all its glory and power.

"Four years ago, shortly after I had finished my education at Castelia University, I was approached by man dress in a formal black business suit that spoke 'Government Spook'. I was wary of interacting with the U.S.S.A , for reasons that are ilrelavant to this discussion, but suffice to say I was not pleased to see him at first. I ask, quite frankly, 'What in the good name of Kuyrem do you want of me?' The response I got quickly grabbed my attension, however. The Unovian government, in recognition of my unique empathy, extensive experience handling problematic and vicsous Pokémon, and his high standing within the Unova Scientist Committee, had decided that I was worthy enough to serve as a part of a top secret research team. They wouldn't not tell me what I was going to study, nor my role in such a presitgous group, but I was free to refuse the offer with no drawbacks or retribution."

"The job, however, offered me plenty of money, power, and affluence with several high ranking officals within the Unovian government and top distinguished scientist of the region, so despite my heavy concerns about this endevour, I accepted  their offer. Right then and there I told to put on a blind fold and noise cancelers (He offered them straight away), and was escorted to a then Unknown location over the course of several hours, or so I inquired. Its hard to judge time when you are suffering from temporarily self-inflicted sensory deprivation, after all. I later found out that the research site was located in the general vicinity of Lacunosa Town, hidden within the thick forests of the area. Since the locals and travelers rarely ventured far outside of their town at night, it was the perfect place to conduct its operations."

"Upon arriving at the facility, I was introduced to the research team, the technician staff that worked to keep the facility online and functional, and the CO of the operation, and was debriefed of my assigned task : I was to be the handler and social contanct to the Legendary Pokémon known as 'Genesect'. I was shocked that I was studying something so important and dangerous, and I had several questions on how they captured it for study. The CO, whose name I don't want to revel in fear that he might somehow find out I uttered it, gave me the complete case file surround the metallic bug. Turns out that after Neo Team Plasma was dismantled by the region hero and the Unovian Task Force, they found the Legendary located in a secret, secure, and extremely damaged section of the building. It was asleep upon first contanct, but it soon awoke when they tried to bring it in for study. It was a bloody, drawn out battle in bringing down and capturing Genesect, and several of the top Trainers brought in lost their lives in battle against the beast. They were able to subdue it, thought, and quickly transport it to its current location. As the Pokémon was highly aggressive, it attempted to attack all the other researchers on multiple occasion, and it made frequent attempt to escape captivity. It was no only increadibly viscous, but had a keen intellect to match, as each and every escape attempt was different from before, and were more damaging than its last one. Genesect was a problematic Pokémon to study and contain, to say he least."

"The Unovan government searched for any possible solution to calm the beast down and tame it, and they so happen to come across my name in the community. They had other prospective canidates for the position, but I was there first choice, and they were quite elated to see that I accept, despite my...dubious standing with them. So, from day one, I was essentially assigned to be Genesect friend. Our intial relationship was...violent. Like every other scientist, it attempt to gut me upon coming to greet it, but I caught its attension when, rather than fleeing its presence, I gave it a hug. A lot of the staff there thought I had gone mad, and I think I heard one comment that I was attempting the most elaborate suicide ever, but Genesect was far too confused to even react to my cuddling. I introduced myself to it, saying that I have come here to be its best friend and handler, and started to become friends with them. From then on, me and Genesect began to develop a special relationship between us. I was their friend, confidant, and intermediary between it and the scientist, in exchange for not being smooshed by it. They, on their end, had to listen to my suggestions, 'talk' to me about its feelings, and to cooperate with the science team.

"Over time, I ended up becoming greatly attached to Genesect, and it seemed to be fond of me as well, despite being one of its hated captors. Around the time when our bond had become its strongest, though, is when my standing in the research team began to rapidly deteriorate. While I agreed to being the Legendary Bug's handler, I thought that keeping in captivity was a fool game, and I voiced that thought to the CO repeatedly, which he'd either ignore or reprimand me. In addition, the tests and research the conducted on Genesect was highly invasive at some times and/or brutal at time, as the Government wanted to know the full capabilities of Team Plasma's self made Legend, something I found distasteful and unnecessary. As I grew closer to the bug, my complaints grew in strength and volume as I began to just ignore the responsibilities of my job in an effort to protect Genesect.

"All of this came to a head when, while having my daily cuddle session with them, that my CO march in and demanded I cease my rebellious attitude, or face the consequence. In response, I punched him straight in the face, and Genesect almost blasted him to smithereens had I not told them not to. I knew my right then my hours were numbered, so I said my good byes to Genesect, and told it to remain strong and find someone to get through this. Soon enough, I was detained, had all my clearance and rights to the Genesect Study revoked, and was promptly fired from my job and escorted out of there. The CO choose not to throw me in maximum security because he thought it would be a waste of good talent, and that despite my eccentricies he had come to respect me. He warned me, however, that I was not to tell anyone about my time on the project, or I would languish in prison. A nice prision for political dissidents, but a gilded cage none of the less. I was followed by the U.S.S.A for about a year afterwards, and my home and place of worked was bug like you would not believe. Eventually, once they realized that I was not going to cause a riot or anything, they greatly decreased their scrutiny, removing said bugs and assigning only on agent to check in on my case only occasionally.

"However, I never forgot about what I learned there, having committed everything I learned to memory long, long ago. This black book of mine is my personal copy of all the information obtained during the study pertaining to Genesect, hand written in secret as a form of insurance against my former employers. In it is a detailed description of the Drive System and the Techno Cannon, all the possible moves it can learn, its Physical and Intelligence parametters, its usual behavior, mood, personality, and disposition...everything that was gathered in my one year and one month study of the Legendary Pokémon. If you wish, feel free to read through the book yourself to familiarize yourself with Genesect full capabilities," Ventus concluded, finally wrapping up his story about Genesect.

He let silence fall upon the group for a few moments, just enough for the information he told to sink in, before saying :"Now that I finish recounting my experience with the Legendary Pokémon, do any of you have question you'd like to ask for me?"
