Okay, she indeed accidently alerted the waterly reptile. And from what Shiva could tell, it was all up to mess with her... Accidently entered what it called 'own territory' maybe?

"Fennekin, you know the plan! Don't be too afraid to get hurt by water again, I'm right there behind you... As for you, Kyuu, leer 'em, please." It felt like this will be a somewhat tougher battle since Shiva could not rely on her Electric rodents who'd be PERFECT in this situation, but...no way she'd back away now! She promised herself to develop and grow stronger after all.


Orders for this round: Fennekin will use Lucky Chant, while Espurr will, well, use Leer.

Effect Lucky Chant: Allows me to ignore any reduced success by rolling two (1)s for the whole battle/scene, Foe does not get the +2 dice in Damage Roll if he rolls a crit. Good things happen to Storyteller's discretion.
Accuracy Roll: 2 Dex + 2 Fight + 1 Perform = 5d6
Additional notes: I like the idea of a musical fox chanting and howling.

Accuracy Roll Leer: 2 Dext + 2 Fight + 0 Intimidate = 4 d6
Effect: Lowers foe's Vitality (Defense) by 1.
Additional Notes: I feel that when an Espurr uses Leer, it always looks like this.

The researcher was quite sastified by his Pokemon's efforts, as they decisively removed Crogunk before he could become a threat in battle , but it was clear they took quite the beating in the process. He didnt let his success disrupt his serene calm he possessed in battle , however, so he calmly commanded his Corsola and Niobat to reprioritize thier actions.

"Areil, you are beginning to look far worse from Aron ' s mud slinging , so put Lucifer in front of you and use Recover now. Lucifer, intercept any attack made by Aron and counter with Screech , then react accordingly. I'm counting on you to protect Ariel, so do not fail me or her!"

Order: Ariel will spend the round using Recover while Noibat is position directly in front of her , who will intercept any attacks made by Aron and will Screech on it until it's defense drops. Once that is done , Lucifer will use Bite twice per Round on Aron , while Ariel gets in front of him to take bits for him and use Bubble once per Round. This is getting complicated fast!

They hold their keys collected close and dear, almost like she was holding that secret mission close... Yes, after all that has happened she still did. In fact, all those happenings only increased determination to bring this mission to success, no matter what. For herself...for Kirlia...for Nathan. For whole Chreshire, if desired to put it out boldly. All the time, she struggled to face Nathan at all, but if she did, he'd know she meant those words. Fennekin was receiving gentle occassional strokes through his fur, it felt so entirely soft and soothing to touch...

Silence then dwelled for a little while then. So many words, it was highly unlikely for Shiva... she was just spitting out the words and the issue. No more. No more lies, no more issues, she knew she disliked conflict and still she was the cause for one! She took hard effort not to shed any tears during this whole confession. She needed...to stay strong towards him.


„Nathan... You see, I am as tired of this as you are. Now you know what you have to know. I cannot tell you more about the mission since it would be a great threath for the mission's success, and I bet you wouldn't want to risk that. All I am asking you to please don't hate me. I...see you have all reasons to hate me, I've been a damn horrible person to you when you absolutely do not deserve it. Not a single bit. All I am asking is for a second chance... But whether you grant that, is absolutely your call. If you prefer to never have anything to do with me again, I'll accept that.“

Fennekin casts his spell, the luck flowing through him and restoring his precarious grip on the steel beam. He can now retract his rear paw from its position on a loose wooden plank! His barking chant and howl sets up throughout the underbelly of the ship, but Shiva thinks hopefully it is too low pitched to attract undue attention.

He couldn't help but beam with both pride and pure joy, glad that he not because he won his second match in a row , but because the bonds he forged between him and his Pokemon were strong enough to be recognized by all ! Truelly , that is just wonderful!

 Ariel , who was currently busy Recovering from the rest of her battle injuries , looked extremely iat overcoming that nasty duo of Steel and Fighting . Perhaps her master was not so bad at all , if he could steer her through such a trail !

Lucifer did a couple of loop de loops in the air , trolling happy notes all the while , before he landed on the researcher's shoulder, looking expectantly at him. Chuckling, Ventus withdrew an Apple from his satchel and handed it to his little devil , who gleefully to it and began munching on it's reward. His master might not be a loaded with treasure, but his care and generosity are truely priceless!

Returning Ariel to her ball, but letting Lucifer continue roosting on his perch , Ventus began to make his way back to the Pokemon Center for some rest . ' My family and I have trained enough for today , and our battle together has greatly improved my mood! The money I raked in is just making it all the more fruitful! I still feel awful for ruining Nathan. 's vibrant attitude , but hopefully Shiva will have fixed that by now . It was her fault that Nathan sensibilities were abused in the first place...' he thought, frowning slightly to himself, still cross at the young lass. Shiva may have been a dear friend to him , but that gave have her no right to drag Nate down like she did...

Order : Ventus is going to the Center to heal his 'mons and to relax a bit with Lucifer in his room. My character is in one location now for awhile , so it should be easy to set up future talks and apologies...

Oh , and raise VIT by 1 point! Yay! Now it's time to start raising my specialties some more!

Nathan sits there quietly, also doing his best to keep his emotions in check until Shiva finishes.  There's another moment of silence as he processes it all...

Almanac.

Of course that was the reason...

...why hadn't he thought of that?

All of a sudden, what Kirlia had been trying to tell him was all to clear.  Why he'd snapped a single string (with his elbow, now that Nathan thought about it a little more carefully...hmmm...that wasn't a simple karate chop...) to bring down that whole structure...why Ralts had been so smug the day Shiva had returned from the daycare and when they'd picked up the egg from the same place...why Shiva had been so reluctant to share even a scrap of info...

She was working with the daycare to bring Almanac down from the inside.  Nathan didn't need to know how.  He was content enough with knowing just that little bit.  He knew first hand that they might not be what they claimed to be, after all...

It wasn't the only thing she'd said, though.  She was hurting emotionally...for many reasons.  She'd hidden it very well, too...if it hadn't been for Kirlia confirming the little bit that Shiva had just said about what she'd been feeling (but he still doesn't tell Nathan just how bad it is...Kirlia doesn't want to worry Nathan that much...), and that she needed a friend right now, Nathan might not have believed it.  

They were more similar than he'd first thought, apparently...

Nathan has no words for what he's feeling right now.  It's an indistinguishable mixture of way too many individual ones to be able to identify it.

Before Shiva knows it, Nathan's right next to her.

It's his turn to give her a hug.  No awkwardness in it from his end, either.  There are tears as well, but they aren't for himself.

"Shiva...I wasn't trying to abandon you...nor Ven...you know I'm not always as strong as I appear to be, and a lot of that 'confidence' I show is just me trying to keep myself from falling apart, something I've built up over the last 3 years...you're stronger than you might think, and I'll say it as many times as I need to.  I'll never consider you being with us a burden.  Ever.  Stop putting yourself down over all that.  If you need a shoulder to lean on, though, I'm here for you.  You have my support, for whatever you might need.  I'm...sorry if it came across as otherwise previously.  I don't know if you remember it or not, but...I didn't willingly enter a nightmare last night just for kicks and giggles..."

"But please, don't lie to me outright on something like that again.  If you can't tell me, just say why.  I promise I'll try to be more understanding of that in the future.  Okay?  I don't hate you for any of this, and I promise you it WILL remain a secret as far as Kirlia and I are concerned.  I'm sorry I pushed you so hard about it, though.  Really.  I should have just gotten the message and left it alone.  You're not the only one at fault here.  Can you forgive me too?"

Nathan might not be entirely happy with her earlier decisions, but he can damn well be a good friend when he needs to be.  The important part was that she opened up about it now, before the damage became permanent.  Wounds can heal, given enough time, after all.  And a good band-aid can greatly accelerate that process.  And mistakes can be learned from, as well.

Now, it was Nathan's turn to try and help Shiva.
