RE: Spam - PhantomUnderYourDesk - 07-08-2017 The Spam Attack seemingly is by far not over yet. Instead, it looks like we are not the only one's being plaqued by it (although we are attacked rather late, seemingly) --> https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/426312-what-s-up-with-these-baba-ji-love-looks-like-phone-number-posts http://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/general-discussion/145882-what-are-all-these-spam-threads However, @CodySP, this proof of you being human when you register to an online-platform does not sound bad. Don't know... Do you think such a thing would help and is feasible to your board at all? RE: Spam - Iron - 07-08-2017 We have one. They know how to solve it. RE: Spam - PhantomUnderYourDesk - 07-08-2017 Really? Can't remember, but that could be just because I registered back then in September '16. Them being able to solve it scares me though, and allays me in the fact that they're an organized group. RE: Spam - Iron - 07-08-2017 They're a script. Once the code is available, anyone can make those bots, if they have the resources (like a server) to run them. New spammers don't have to reinvent the wheel, they can just copy the old code. RE: Spam - PhantomUnderYourDesk - 07-08-2017 That means all the Forum Team can do is trying to shield us from them, delete the spammy threads and ban the 'users' as soon as spotting them by us reporting them? I believe it'd be very hard, if not outright impossible to dig to that script and get rid of it somehow. RE: Spam - Iron - 07-08-2017 You can't get rid of a script, ever. Not even the FBI could. You can try to counter it, which is what the Admin Panel is for. You can increase the difficulty of the human-detector, which we've done a couple times. I'm not sure how much higher it can go. You can ban IPs. You can do any number of tricks to try to filter out spam. But eventually the spambots will learn your tricks and get around them. RE: Spam - CodySP - 07-08-2017 It's an on going battle, we've explored numerous different avenues and security measures to prevent spam bots, though we've decreased the number significantly some still push through the cracks. RE: Spam - PhantomUnderYourDesk - 07-09-2017 @Iron, @CodySP, @Polaris, one Spambot now made it to be an Invisible User. He's there, but not trackable in the 'Who's online'-list. RE: Spam - Lord Windos - 07-09-2017 Well, these bot users are grower ever more sophisticated. What's next, spambots lurking for weeks, making relevant post, before changing the all to spam? RE: Spam - PhantomUnderYourDesk - 07-09-2017 I don't think a Spambot is capable of doing such a thing, my dear.... At least, not for weeks. |
