RE: Another News Outlet Proclaims the Death of Uranium - Selene - 10-17-2016 Did the original team ever get formal warnings from Nintendo? I thought they did it preemptively when they realized that Uranium went viral and high profile. All I know is that something spooked the devs in giving up the goose, so to speak. I think some people might know why they pulled the plug, but they are holding their peace to prevent even more shit storms from occurring... Whatever the reason was, it's very unprofessional for news outlets to assume what it was, then print it as fact. RE: Another News Outlet Proclaims the Death of Uranium - Keileon - 10-21-2016 Twitch posted this on Twitter, so yes, they were told by Nintendo's legal team to stop. https://oripoke.wordpress.com/2016/10/20/the-explosion-and-fallout-of-pokemon-uranium/ RE: Another News Outlet Proclaims the Death of Uranium - MonkeyLord83 - 10-21-2016 (10-21-2016, 01:11 AM)Keileon Wrote: Twitch posted this on Twitter, so yes, they were told by Nintendo's legal team to stop. Yeah, saw @Iron's thread... It's interesting to see how the creator team and the legal department have different views on fan-game... But, in any case, it is what it is, and we DO need more people to know... We just don't want to go overboard... RE: Another News Outlet Proclaims the Death of Uranium - Selene - 10-21-2016 It's good to finally see what happened. So, they did get an official warning at the end, but it sure wasn't the "banning" or "killing" rumormongers twisted it into. I hope Twitch and JV can pick up the pieces and move forward with their lives. Going viral can wreck a person. I'm just wishing both all the best, and thank them more than I can say for the game they managed to give us. Modified. RE: Another News Outlet Proclaims the Death of Uranium - Lord Windos - 10-21-2016 Well, we (the public) finally got some definite answers on the matter. And bloody hell, if it was sadly predictable. I still wonder if Nintendo is pursuing D&Ds at this point in an effort to not protect their IP, but just aggressively save face and cover up other creators efforts compared to their own. Twitch, if your reading this, or really anyone, you have my total sympathies, for what they are worth. You created a game you had no idea would ever blow up to be this big, and your were subsequently unprepared to face all the hype, expectations, and STRESS that comes with fame. Handling PR, the game, 9 years of stressful work and development, and the fear of Nintendo bearing down on you at any moment.... most would have cracked well before the point you ended up at. Especially with all the rumors and misinformation that has been spread about you and your game compounding that issue. For what is worth, I'm proud that you made a game so amazing, not even cessation of official development has stopped its growth and success. I know that, no matter what you hope to accomplish now, you will do so with aplomb. |
