Is the crystal now behind the Pokemon, or is it part of it?

The head blinks some more, looking a bit taken aback by your lax attitude. Your hairy head seems to interest them, as does your camera, peering at them one after the other Noctowlishly. They stare at you for a little bit more, seeming to mull things over....

...A moderately sized tortoise of some sort, with the glowing crystal planted firmly at the top center of their shell. You don't recognize this Pokemon; must be either native to the Region or somewhere far away. They were roughly the size of a Grotle, by your mental estimate, though you can immediately tell that the green they sport isn't one of Grass. No, it seems more related to mineral deposits and old algae clinging to parts of its frame...

They take a plodding step toward you, craning their neck down as they got a closer look, appearing ever interested and a little bit friendly.

Through your Bond with her, you get the feeling that your spiritual fox would very much like to be comforted a bit, the feeling she sensed giving her a mild case of the heebie jeebies. Outwardly, however, she remains prim. proper, and Alert, the very picture of a Magus' Mighty Magical Fox. If allowed, she'd also want to remain out and about with you; she would go back to her Ball if requested, disappointed but understanding.

The fragrant smoke almost reminds you of the mists and aromas your witchy friend so often loved to beguile you and other poor souls with, though nowhere near intense or unbalancing. In fact, you feel a bit purified breathing it in; not enough to count as an actual cleansing, but enough to make you feel a bit lighter. Not that it helps when you witness poor Saph's condition, but still.

Speaking of her, you now notice she's wearing a baby blue sleeping gown, and she was wearing a pendant adored with a bright and clear Sapphire. She also remained (metaphorically!) dead to the world - all the commotion not enough to rouse her from whatever plagues her so...

Mr. Gleam's control wavers as he sees you and Nirix's clearly unnerved and shocked reactions, fearing the worst automatically; your prefacing warning only magnified his growing dread.

"W-What?! Oh...oh no. Pl-please, don't tell me it's something truly vile?!"

Oh boy, he's panicking AGAIN. You decide to start with the Good News in a hurry, hoping to calm him down. It works, for a spell, with him lightening up just a tad....until he hesistantly asked for more details. Your clear reluctance to divulge them did not help matters, making them grow more anxious and fretful than ever, so you decided to Bug Bite the Bullet Punch and just laid it all out for him in the hopes of getting to the end of this spiralling sooner rather than later.

What you had to say....it caused him to put both hands to his mouth, his eyes blown wide with pure, unadulterated mortal terror for his beloved daughter. Something...something evil was inside her?! Oh no...oh NO...OH NO NO NO!!!

Then, like a stack of papers pushed off a desk, he folds in on himself, Fainting from the Bad News.

Well....shit. Your bedside manner remains wanting, sadly.

Now you got a quick decision: Trying to Revive him and continue to have his direct aid and assistance, but potentially have to deal with his Panicking and own Health as you tried to Cure Saph, or letting him remained Fainted so you can get work done quicker without having to micromanage him too.

Huh. Words can barely describe how heavily Bernhard sighs figuratively AND literally, one hand on forehead and all, in response to Mr.Gleam going down in cold blood. They KNEW he wouldn't take the news well, hence the hesitation on dropping the details. Little could Bern know he'd take the news THAT badly...

...but maybe, just maybe, things will okay now. Bernhard is very used to + is at his best when working alone (exempt trusted partner Pokemon), plus he feels he'll need any concentration he can bring up to find out more about what is pestering Saph in order to create an as customized cure as possible: So, decision made, we'll leave Mr.Gleam alone, for now that is, and after we've checked whether he's still breathing. Bernhard hasn't got the nerves to micromanage him just now - if he needs his assistance, he can still try to wake him up later!

Very well then also, Myra does stay out. Even receives some careful and reassuring scratches under chin and pets behind her ears, as means to calm her down. Hopefully she appreciates the rare to super-rare displays of affection from her Master and agrees to work with him here. "Be calm, my treasured nine-tailed partner, be calm... I do need your assistance here, as your...own experience of inflicting curses is of great value here." Bernhard will wait for a bit, continuing to calm and quiet her before continuing. "I am aware that whatever is present or wrong here is riling you up greatly, I noticed. Though I am here with you, and nothing shall befall you nor us as long as you are with ME. *motions towards Saph* The source of that...presence you felt earlier lies here. That presence, that vile and dark magic, is plaguing this innocent young girl... And we have been asked to find a cure for it, dear Myra. *lets gaze rest on her for a bit, now noticing that bright and clear Sapphire worn as a pendant - which immediately causes Bernhard to frown* "That crystal... do tell me Myra, do you feel anything...vile coming from it?" Plus, what happens if Bernhard tries to touch it with his Gauntlet hand?

Course of Action:

Repeat what's been stated already, this time with Myra staying out. Plus keeping a close eye on Mr.Gleam every now and then.

His visage remains calm and focused despite internally freaking out about Lani's feat. The poor girl gave it her all, maybe a bit too much. He could use this to his advantage though!

He sits up straight and speaks out with all the authority he can muster:

''Leave, leave now and do not return. Fighting is futile, you can see what happened to your group with just one of my pokemon and it won't be pretty if this continues.''

He would still take precautions. ''Nalu use Wide Guard.'' (acc 3dex + 3fight + 5 channel - 2act= 9d6) With these words he jumps down besides Kayla. He recalls Lani to the safety of her ball and points to the last goon who was fighting her (should he still be ready to throw down). ''Kayla, High horsepower! (on that guy's pokemon). Welp, that went well.

Wow! Well indeed!

Sylvia will ask the Murkrow to tell their story (and enjoy their meal) before deciding on the boon.

Darren immediately takes advantage of the expedited healing services. As for the note Darren hands it to the police as evidence, he's got a bad feeling about the "fun".

Darren does take a picture of the note, for future reference, and shares it + relevant info with the other applicable (read: ones he has the number of) members of the group.

Step 1: "Are you hurt, buddy? Trapped, or do you like it here?"

If the critter isn't in a bind, Step 2: Company. "I've got another tortoise Pokemon. Maybe you two could be friends?" Turtwig comes out, with strict orders not to use any Grass type moves.

Step 3: Vernon hand-feeds Turtwig some Pokemon food, and offers some to the new tortoise as well. "Or do you like something else? A berry? Pebbles? Metal? I've got a spoon you can try. If you eat sand, you're bound to be full up already."

Turtwig carefully scrapes the food from Vernon's fingers with the metal beak attachment, very gentle, never breaking skin.

UoU zZZ

From what you can glean, this place seems to be a resting place of sorts for the rocky tortoise. Good thing for you it doesn't seem to mind getting a wake up call from uninvited guests such as yourself!

S2: The mention of kin peeks their interest, and upon see the lil' leaf they crane head down to get a closer inspection, tilting their head this way and that as they gave'em a good looking at, before smiling and bobbing up and down.

(*)o(*)

^-^

((^_^))

Turtwig for their part seems a bit intimidated by the much bigger shell mate, but you own calmness and Orders prevents those feelings from getting any worse

S3: It sniffs at the offered food curiously, but ultimately and politely declines - they weren't hungry at the moment but appreciate the thought, you feel. When you mentioned eating sand they tilted their head a bit side by side, as if to say 'A little bit' . Now that you had time and were thinking about it, you recognize from the jaw and teeth design they were likely herbivorous as well as mineravorous. Food for thought!

For now they seem content with your company, settling down on the ground with a tangible *THUD* and watching you with passive interest.

Wow! Well indeed!

Sylvia will ask the Murkrow to tell their story (and enjoy their meal) before deciding on the boon.

In the interest of time, I'll give a brief overview of what Murkrow has to say about the Mass Kidnapping:

- They claim to have seen someone just appear out of thin air off to the side of the building. Strangely so - it did not show the tell tell signs of a traditional Teleportation, but rather they simply blurred into the place they were in with a weird glow around them for a second.
- The person was clad in 'tall flowing cloths, Mummy wrapped, clinkty clank!' from what they described them, and didn't seem to visibly carrying any Pokemon or using their Special Power like a Magi would from their discerning eye. One thing they noted that was REALLY Strange, though, as that their Eyes was completely covered up by dark grey cloth, but they could move around as if they had them wide open.
- The mysterious individual turned and gave them a smile and a bow  before making a *Sssshing* motion, and then entered into the Center. This creeped them out BIG TIME, as is part of the reason why they didn't want to speak about it - they're afraid the 'Conceal Clanky Clothy' would find out and do something about it.
- Last but certainly not least, they describe that almost a minute after they entered a wave of something appeared, flowing outwards from the center and suffocating the area in a blanket of unnatural silence and 'avoidance' , as if some force was 'Keeping the Healing Place quiet and welcoming as Mourning Grave, hrk....' . This seemingly kept the public from the Pokemon Center while whatever nefarious forces were at play ransacking the place and people - the only reason they weren't affected was sheer curiosity and their earlier dread rooting them to the branch as a witness. It eventually cleared up, and it was around that time that people 'returned' to the Center and discovered the horrible crime that took place. The rest, as they say, is history....

By the end the bejeweled raven looked extremely uncomfortable, flexing their talons anxiously around the branch they were hanging looking this way and that, as if they were expecting that very person to jump out to punish them for speaking.

"Mrrrrr....no more speak of this or that, no nay not! Strange, Weird, Bad, all never seen and never should have been sawn and sought! Magic, Earth Power, Starlight I know not, but know this I do: its core is Otherness Stifling All...."

After Sylvia passed this information to Seddi, he appears troubled by the news.

"Commonly used or not, what this Murkrow is describing definitely sounds like magic of some variety."

He'll have one followup question for the Murkrow.  The bird would have probably mentioned this already if they had seen anything of the sort, but more clarification never hurts.

"Hmmmm...wrapped in bandages, long flowing robes...a simple question for you, fine Murkrow: did you see anything shiny on the culprit's person?  Particularly on their hand.  Or did it look like the bandages and robes might have been hiding such gleams?  If they were making clanking sounds, there must have been a lot of metal on them."
