Dragon types (and possibly draconic Pokemon like Charizard) respond to power. The bond itself can be power. The trainer can exhibit power, or inherit a powerful bloodline.
Steel I would picture as rather analytical - they most respect a trainer who makes the same decision they'd make.

How neat... So with Shiva practically becoming specialiced in Fairy- and Psychic-Type, her connection to her Pokemon is rather unique and definitely more than the ususal Pokemon-Trainer-bond in my understanding... If feel it matches her mental maturity, vivid mind and pool of emotions which in return interests Pokemon of these two Types and opens the doors for close bond. Add in the fact that the Pokemon Shiva currently owns are her first own Pokemon, which increases the uniqueness... Out-of-character, this all works well with how detailed I try to interact with my Pokemon during Training Session etc.. Instead of raising them especially and only for battle, a close bond seems to be the desire.

Damn, I feel that battle against Nightshade rather quickly reached Gym-Leader-difficulty. I'm putting hope in Fennekin, since he'll be indeed the the last Pokemon I can send out - Cottonee is also a possibility, but we agreed on a 4vs4-battle, did we? Neither my Abra nor Espurr are in the state of participating in such a determined battle yet. I COULD spend a Will Point for Minun to overcome her pain, but that'd make Shiva collapse...
I hope even if I'll loose, I'll get some XP.

Ventus raises his Pokémon primarily for battle and protection, but he does make effort to make sure that their power can be put to other uses, such as doing odd jobs (Ariel and Lucifer), guarding other and hunting (In Apsis case), and general being amicable with other (All, but especially Apsis and later Lucifer). Techincally, Ventus has never owned a Pokémon himself, but he's worked with so many Pokémon in and out of his University that, in addition to his natural empathy, makes the prospect far less impactful for him. Still, he care deeply for his Pokémon, so don't disregard the bond he shares with them. Their his family, after all!

That battle was a little harder than expected, thanks to the abilities having such good synergy. Victreebel should probably have been Weepinbell, for starters. I also advise you to spend a little more time on the offensive - in the time you confused Charmander and Yawned Victreebel, you could have slain either one with flying moves, and won handily.
Nightshade will agree to 6v4 if you want.

Take it from Reiner and Archies' battle in Windos's game: Well built weather teams are deadly.

Nope, don't get me wrong, I greatly enjoy the challenge! It's tough, interesting, and I enoy the NPC serving as my opponent.
Funny thing about the mentioning of weather teams being deadly: Because Shiva is aiming for a partial weather team herself with future-Marill's Rain Dance and Fennekin's Sunny Day.

Does Nathan actually enter the lobby right away after training, or head off to bed? Because since Ventus arrived later than he does, he would have no idea he's already their, unless they sent him a text, and would be waiting in the lobby all night to keep watch....and get worried too.
RE: [Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins - Dragonstrike - 08-03-2017
He heads to the lobby afterwards. Still gotta feed the snake, after all. He wants to spend the 3rd encounter slot just relaxing with his pokemon. And then we gotta discuss the plan for going forward.

Ya know, I seem to have absolutely terrible luck with dice pools larger than 5...between missing a Horn Drill with 8 dice, those first two bubble beams from Starmie, Swiftfire's training roll...yeesh...
