[Game Thread] Lord Windos’ PokeRole Adventure 2: The Wild Lands
(I'll address the remaining stuff from the end of encounter 2 at a separate time)

(06-22-2024, 12:17 PM)Redstone Wrote:

Seddi will look at Akamu thoughtfully, especially after that last comment.  He doesn't ask about the mangroves, since he can reasonably assume it's related to whatever mission he's on from the Tapu, but he does elaborate a little on the topic in his field of expertise.  "Well, if you're that keen on gettin' rid of that critter, the Professor and I can take it off your hands.  Word of warnin' though: unruly Paradoxes are the most dangerous kind.  If that one's friendly and happy, I'd prefer it stay that way in all honesty.  Especially given that as far as Leaves knows, it shouldn't exist at all."

Sedd will find a chair and sit down briefly before they start training, sending Akamu the data that Leaves has decoded on Bio Fang's pokedex entry.  "I won't mince words.  What ya have there is an incredibly dangerous pokemon.  Supposedly, it's a juvenile form of an incredibly powerful Paradox Leaves calls Bio Abaddon.  She's been decoding that garbage data since ya showed it to us.  It gets stronger from being Burned or Poisoned, and would likely be almost impossible to control under those circumstances.  But Paradoxes are still Pokemon, even as strange as they are.  Bein' able to bond with them is a rare thing indeed, but it is possible.  You might be the only individual that's even capable of tamin' that creature right now.  I'd hesitate to say the Professor and I would have as much success on short notice.  We could help ya with taming it potentially, but it might be easier to do if you hold onto it for now.  Regardless of how she gets to study it though, Professor Sada's definitely interested.  She specifically wanted me to ask you if she could take a look at it later once things have settled down a little."

(as a reminder Redstone, pokemon usually lose 1 Happiness and Loyalty when they are traded/given away to another trainer, which would make raising the Bio Fang even harder)

"Don't need to decide anythin' right now, though.  Professor and I aren't goin' anywhere yet.  Sada's tryin' to establish a lab to use as our base of operations for our research, so Bayahama's likely goin' to be our home base for a little while yet.  Let's get started on the main thing we came here to do, shall we?"

Seddi will nod to Ceruledge, and then he'll bring out Kusanagi.  With a little help from Leaves doing translation work, he'll start introducing her to his Swords and gauging her reactions.

"Alright Kusanagi, let's get a little warm up in before the big fight tonight.  First off, I'd like to introduce you to a few individuals.  First one is Ceruledge, my Sword of Malice.  Those who cross her all end up Cursed quite horribly.  And I do mean all.  Not even Pseudos can resist her vengeance."

Ceruledge will give the old warrior a small bow even though the Samurott is blind.  She may be vengeful, but she's also respectful.

"The man behind you right now is an Alolan named Akamu.  He came across a rather interestin' blade recently and is interested in learnin' how to use it.  Ceruledge is likely gonna be workin' the most with him while he learns the basics of swingin' that weapon properly."

Next is Veluza!

"This one's only an honorary Sword really, but he's just as sharp as the rest of them.  Always eager to fight, this Veluza.  Doesn't let bein' a fish out of water stop him from slicin' and dicin' everythin'.  His techniques are more than capable of leaving devastating wounds on whatever he hits.  He may only be an honorary Sword, but he's one of my deadliest trump cards.  If we end up using your Soak on that Wandering Hurricane, it'll be vulnerable to a nasty surprise from Veluza."

Next...

"...here's where I would introduce ya to my second proper Sword, but unfortunately, he's back home undergoin' some intense trainin' until the end of my first week here.  Some like to call him my Sword of Justice, though I think the moniker isn't entirely in good taste, all things considered.  Still, if ya manage to survive the battle with that Wandering Hurricane, you'll have the opportunity to meet my Pseudo Slayer, Gallade.  His most impressive feat?  OHKOing a healthy Garchomp.  He's a master of his Sacred Sword technique.  There's always more to learn, but I don't think there's much more he can learn about using that blade without findin' more advanced masters of the blade than himself."

And finally...

"...and my third Sword is one that should knock your socks off if you were wearin' any.  My Verdant Sword, the one responsible for our ability to communicate smoothly."

Seddi pauses for dramatic effect and relays some brief instructions to Leaves.

[Kindly hold back that terrain of yours a bit, Leaves.  Don't want to mess up the room or the building.  If you can control it juuuuust enough so Kusanagi can feel its power though, that should help get the point across.]

As Seddi lets Leaves out, he'll continue describing her for the blind otter's sake, ideally with a small part of the Verdant Terrain's power touching Kusanagi's honed non-sight senses.

"Similar in many ways to the robotic pokemon known to roam this landscape, Iron Leaves is a pokemon made in the image of Virizion.  The existence of this Legendary Grass/Psychic Paradox is a closely guarded secret as of right now.  One that you are now privy to, Kusanagi.  Leaves is here on a mission, and I'm helpin' her with it.  And also helpin' her regain some of the strength that she lost in coming here.  She is powerful, but not nearly as powerful as she should be.  If I need to use her against that Wandering Hurricane, your Soak will be the edge that tempers her Leaf Blades.  It might not come to that between the others that will be joining us; your own blades; and the Goodra I have with me right now. But if it does, I'd like to have that option available."

One can only hope that Kusanagi is at the very least intrigued by the varied cast, with skills and accomplishments just as colorful.

Vernon flinches, for reasons he can't fully remember, at Darren's text. The juxtaposition of the cheery menu and the innate eeriness of the Flutter Mane...

"Would you mind asking the elephant experts at the cafe if they know where Cufant can be found?"

Humm... For someone as attentive and vigilant as Bernhard, how Oz appears to be...scared of him does certainly not go unnoticed by them, and it earns her some discreet raised eyebrows. This is not the first time people appear fearful about him, high position, high rank and extraordinaire magical skills, so he's not going to comment or inquire further about it, nope. Least it'd be rude towards the young lady! He waves off her gratefulness for him having accepted her invitation. "After everything that has occured yesterday and tomorrow, a bit of leisure time is what I'd most appreciate. It does not hurt to... get familiar with the other 'seleted souls', so to speak."

She stating being okay and having informed authorities about what has been happening is reassuring to know, though just in case Benhard's not going to drop his guard by any bit, no. If anything, the thought of these...morons that call themselves 'BB' coming back in the name of vengance... Nope, he does not want to think of such a possibility, and least of all he wants to share this thought with Oz.

At the table itself, Bernhard's not bothered at al by the silence, contrary to Oz. He's just enjoying observing the surroundings, keeping an eye on Myra, allowing himself to unwind a bit after everything that has occured at the Gleam's family house. Though once Oz speaks up, he's averting his focus to her. In response to her question how his last days have went, he sighs, sufferingly so, gatheres his thoughts for a bit. His tone of voice is without much emotions. "The last few days... From being whisked away from my private quarters at the Magecracy without my consent, over meeting all you at the park, to having encountered a most while curse on an innocent young girl... I'd say my days have been quite eventful. Which is something I loathe, but also am used to. After all, better an 'eventful' time instead a 'boring' one, wouldn't you say? Lady Luck and Miss Fortune have their own ways and preferences to toy with one to their heart's content, don't they..."

At some point the kuudere Scimitar would lean forward towards Oz, rest his elbows on the edge of the table and out the fingertips of his hands together to form sort of a roof; giving Oz a somewhat confident and telling look (NOT trying to intimidate her however, if anything Bernhard wants to somewhat put her at ease by giving off self-secure vibes). For visualization, it's basically quite like this:

"But, enough about me, m'lady. ...You said you wished to see me and speak with me for a reason, did you not? What reason may that be? There's obviously not enough room here to display some Spells, though I am not opposed to aid your Hattrene at some other time, if this is what you desire."

Quote:Just ran into a crazy looking Misdreavus, I think it was called Flutter Mane. Didn't mess with it.

Bernhard will.....sigh quite sufferingly over receiving that text, facepalm over the fact that there's ANOTHER Malefic Monstrum around. How joyous (not), as if that Wandering Hurricane the other souls decided on taking on wasn't enough. Flutter Manes also happen make him...think of a certain lady of fairies and wildflowers, in how it is eager to play and toy around in a bad sense (now is not the time to daydream about her though!)

With the help of reading glasses and a fancy-looking stylus, a quick response is sent to Darren:
Quote:Greetings and good evening.

A good decision to not mess with that Flutter Mane. Thank you for your warning that one of these most arcane spectral beings are lurking in town, I shall look into getting my hands onto a repellant meant for Ghosts and anything spiritual in nature.
I do advice you to do the same.

Oz nods her head while listening to Bernard all the fights he's been having in the last few days. “It looks like you had your own battles these last days. And you lift a curse from an innocent young girl?” Oz had a though look. “Hmm…it seems you have been occupied. If you want I could…maybe go along to help in the process? Maybe I could…help next time? My Hatterene has some healing abilities, and I might know a thing or two about soul healing, so I…could maybe lend a hand if you want.”

She nods and tells him. “Sometimes Lady Luck and Miss Fortune have their own methods to toy with their heart content indeed…And they decide who to give their blessings. It had an important decisive situation when I had to help that poor Liligant who was a victim of those…BB’s as you say. Sometimes Lady Luck helps, sometimes not.”

Oz thinks for a few seconds about Bernard's question. While thinking she sees the Café around them, at the person around them. How some look happy, without a care in the world. How beautiful is the world. I'm just be…happy to have a normal lifes.

Something Oz cannot have. Something Oz cannot ever have back.

With a low head, she answered Bernard's question. “...To be perfectly honest…I…I wanted to know better the person I will fight side by side…To…well…Understand you Mr Samsara…Because I…” She touched the scar on her forehead. “Because I fear you. Not just because of your position…But…because you are a Scimitar.” She then releases the scar in her forehead, still feeling the pain flesh almost like the first day she got the scar. “...I…I can’t say much about me…But…I suffer a lot because of the Scimitar cause…suffering I would not even dare to wish even against my greatest enemy…I…I lost important people to me…My friends...My companions…”

She touched the scar in her forehead while a tear fell in her eye. “...And my sister. One of the most important things in my life. Something I consider more important than even my OWN life.” She looks at him, eyes filled both with fear…but also with sadness. “...I…I am truly terrified. And scare. Because I…Already lost a sister once…I don’t want to lose my other sisters.”

“I see you are not a bad person. You fought to save us. You distracted Morgana. You clearly have a good heart. And you are a decent person.” She put her hands in her face, almost like she is hiding her shame in admitting her fear at the person in front of her. “...But…all my instincts scream to me whatever I close to you: ‘Run. Run away from him!’ It’s…horrible and I feel awful for feel that way."

She then looks at Bernard once more. “Then…I guess why I wanted to talk with you, is to understand you, know a bit more the person I will fight side by side against a Calamity capable of destroy many lives…And maybe…Just maybe…Be able to face my own fears, my own demons…And my own failures too…” She then goes silent, letting the words be digested not only to Bernard but to herself.

Bernhard will - once more - give Oz an trademarked hand gesture of politely waving her off, the experience being very fresh still. "Oh, do not mind. In fact I'm... just coming from the place the young dear girl infected with the curse lives at, having made sure she and her parents are alright for now. I did manage to break the vile curse, as taxing and costy it has been on my end..." Then he averts his gaze back at dear Oz, sporting what appears to be...an encouraging smile(?) which has left their face within the blink of an eye. "There IS something you and your Hattrene are able to give me a hand in however - checking dear Saph for any lingering aftereffect of having infested by the curse for so long. Healing Arts are not my speciality, so I would appreciate if you, as healer, could accompany if I happen to visit her once more at some point... It is up to you to accept or decline." He gives Oz an ecouraging look however. "Especially so if you... managed to SAVE THE LIFE of that Liligant yesterday..." He lets these words linger for a bit, seems it was important for Bernhard to state it like this.

Any further input and words from the young lady of a healer is met with a usual stoic face and facade. For a while, Bernhard would just sit there with her, let everything she said sink in, observe the surroundings and Myra with an attentive eye, keep a close look on Oz... From what he can pick up, this young lady is full of despair and anxiety, yeez.

Once he eventually DOES speak up however, his words are suprisingly soft. They're still lacking much emotion, but they don't come off as cold at least. "Well... I would say you are acting quite bravely, displaying quite the courage here, m'lady." Once more he's putting emphasis on this part. What Bernhard will also do is cast an Aromatherapy via Evocation over Oz, in an attempt to help her calm down, seeing how she's beginnng to break down here.

*coughs* "Do allow me to elaborate: You are stating that your are fearing me? Oh, there is nothing to 'fear' about me - *tone turns dark* " - that is, unless you are making me WANT to fear me, or are making ENEMIES out of me for some reason. Either way, despite your fears and reservations, you still managed to invite me, you are still sitting here with quite the capable Scimitar at the same table, at your own desire. In just this moment, you are already facing your fears, and that is something I can value and respect. The path to, if you wish to do so, tackle your fears is laid open, the first small step you did already take. You may not...have realized that you have done so, that is all. It is your decision whether to follow that path and grow while taking it, or make a turn and leave your inner demons reign, like they seem to have done so for quite a while."

In response to her stating that she feels horrible for these demons commanding her to run: She receives one more a hand gesture of 'Not a big deal'™. "Do not apologize for what you feel or don't feel, Oz. No one should do that. There are only things you 'feel', no things you are 'allowed to feel' or 'not allowed to feel'."

Bewrnhard's not going to state or express it, but in some way they CAN relate to 'having lost something truely important'. His thoughts wander towards his partner, Sirroc the Minun... Maybe due to that he feels somewhat capable to deal with Oz in her current state just fine. "When you loose one thing, you are able to receive something too in return - that is my belief. Give it a thought, ponder over it in times of rest, there MUST be something you have gotten in return to loosing something so dear to you. You simply may not...see it as of currently."

How Oz is terriefied of Bern simpyl because they are a Scimitar however earns Oz a frown, once more they return to putting their fingertips together to a roof. "I am not going to sugarcoat it, it is valid and understandable to fear us. This mere Gauntlet of mine..." *musters it* "....it surely can be used to do evil, if utilized in the right way. But in the end, it is just a tool... What to make of that tool is free of choice. Simply because one of my fellow Magi have chosen to follow a more dark path, does not mean that all of us are bad, no. We just happen...to enjoy our privacy. Your first impression and lingering belief of us being bad is just that, it stems from the trauma you have suffered. If I were bad however, would I make use of this tool to try calming your nerves via a spell? Surely not, now would I?"

(Yup, and your Magic is indeed back by now! Rejoice!)

At the Gleams's House!

*Rolls*

You do notice one last thing about the Eye in the amulet: it mirrors the movement of Ezmeralda's own eyes, point by point. Right now it's looking at you, same as she, and seems to be thoughtful as the woman too. Something to investigate later....

On the subject of Resurrection Magics - they're extremely rare. Both in the sense that it's hard to find ANY that exist consistently.....and those that are reliatvely 'common' either have hideously extortionist prices, are Dark or Distorted in some fashion, and/or are just plain unpleasent to use all around for Magi and Revivee alike. That makes what you pulled off with the pale mother and her twice alive daughter even more absurd; by all standards, you pulled off a true Miracle. One that is likely not to be soon repeated, though at least you know now that combing a Panacea with Nirix's Healing Wish (and perhaps other similar Spells?) exponentially increases the effects....and Strangeness abound!

Even with Scimitar connections and having your Mentor (and Morgana , if you're feeling especially cruel) as a cudgel, bureaucracy still takes ages to get the outcome you want going. Probably want to sit down and question the Gleams long and hard about this whole crisis first before doing any Digging, so you know where to look for and can save time in the long run.

Your Muse smiles excitedly, slinging her paw around your neck in a half hug, half nuzzle of pure delight!

"Woo hoo! Thanks, Sammy! I promise I'll create a portrait so good it'll be a miracle in of itself, and a blessing for all eyes to see! Oh, and of course I'll be there for that 'Test' that shaman has going on - might not be all the way done with the paintings by that time depending on how the creative process goes, but hey, sometimes that is the way the Alchremie collapses! You're my first priority, then, now, and time to come, and don't you forgot that mister!

She also pretty stoked about getting to interact with the Gleams - she and Saph do a little dance together, hand in paw as they twirl around and around while Ez smiles fondly - which also served to keep the faint lass attention occupied and not Houndouring you for playtime and more hugs. They ARE nice, but you DO have places to get to!

Quick Attack + Agility + use just a Parkor is about as good as Flight in the dense urban sprawl of Bayhama; in some cases it's even better, since some paths are easier to take and with less effort and you may chance upon some goodies along the way (not this time, though).

For now Ez wants the family to Rest up between EVERYTHINGbut the idea of going to a petting zoo / therapy-esqe café  does appeal to the woman's refined sensibilities. Saph is just thrilled about the idea of getting to play with elephants and foxes!

~~~~~
At the Cafe!
Thus far everyone has been treating Myra with the respect she absolutely deserves, but many a harry situation has taught you that prudence in all things is rarely bad. As for your admirers...well, they mostly just ask the usual questions about what being a Mage is like, along with more specific ones like 'How did you raise such a magnificent Ninetales?' and 'What do you do to get that fox's coat so lucious?'  After awhile though they leave you alone in favor of enjoying their own peace, calm, and all the adorable and fluffy foxes and elephants they could ever want. Odd to be so noticed yet unbothered, but you're not complaining!
Citizenship, or earning ' Independence' , for a Pokemon is a fairly nuanced process that involved not only their overall Intelligence and ability to communicate with Humanity, but also how they can best adapt to society as one that 'stands' with Humanity, rather than alongside or opposed, as well as how their own unique moral and species psychology factors into it all. Suffice to say, a Mon getting Independence is rare in general outside of certain species line known for it (Such as Slowkings, or sufficiently intelligent Friendship Evos) . For a member of an Eevee line like that Espeon? Almost unheard of - Eeveelutions as a whole are THE companionship Pokemon for Humanity, almost intrinsically like with their preferred Human Partner. To see one 'strike it out on their own' is.... odd , to say the least. Especially for a Friendship Evo - even those that gain Independence typically are seen side by side with their Human Partner and friends. Not by themselves like them....
Now onto the Activities!
1. The Raffle!
Only 1 Bid? Let's see if Lady Luck is feeling even more generous for ya today!
Rarity - Class: (1)(6) Dead Average!
Rarity - Value: (18)+ 1 [Good Karma!]  REALLY good, though!
You manage to snag a lil Superb Masterwork Eevee Plushie, so lifelike and cuddly you could imagine it coming to life and trill affectionately for pets and belly rubs! Essentially works as a Poke Doll you can use to distract most Wild Mons, but you can also have a Pokemon that knows Poltergeist or can Possess Objects use the Eevee Plushie in Battle or all sorts of things outside of it! Also raises the gain of Happiness of Fox Mons and Baby Pokemon (as in freshly hatched to 'young' ) by a notable amount! In regards to your Magic...well, Puppeteering Arts was never really a thing with you....but all the same you have heard of Magi managing to actually breathe life into their Creations and/or turn them into Autonomous Artifacts in some manner or another. Especially among the more esoteric Magi practioners or researchers, like with Curses, Spirit/Boundery Magicks, the Fae, or 'Anima' Centric Magicks in general.
Getting a hold of an Eevee is stupidly hard at the best of times, but perhaps with this you could try your hand at making yourself one...?
2. Searching about Leafeons and Mossy Rocks? That'll narrow down what you'll find, but it's also going to be harder than just casting a broad net and seeing what grabs your attention.
INS (4) + Knowledge + Alert - 4 = 6D6 Dice
(3)(3)(3) (4)(4)(6) 3 Successes!
No luck on finding any books about Leafeons you're actually interested in research-wise (PLENTY of feel good stories or tips to care of them and their kin, though!), but you do hit pay dirt about the Mossy Stone - A book Title ' Nature's Stepping Stones - A Guide to Identifying and Surveying Rocks and Geological Formations Of All Kinds' by Roark himself! Once a world famous Sinnoh Gym Leader, he eventually retired to become a full time Pokemon Researcher specializing in the Ancient Past Pokemon and Rocks in general. He published a great deal of works and advanced the community's understanding of his field for years - then, he mysterious vanished one day, never to be seen from again. This one was produced sometime in the middle of his career, so it was literally his prime material!
While a lot of the details and subjects are not terribly relevant to you (now), you do learn how to search Wooded Environments, Jungles, or 'Overabudence' Areas for Mossy Stones Big and Small, as well as how to go about making one and creating a Pokemon Sanctuary around them! A lot of how to do the later is terribly science-y and has to do with years of landscaping and cultivating the environment just right, but as a Magi of an Alchemical bent you could perhaps find a way to 'bypass' and innovate on this process. Though truth be told this was more the realm of Technomages and Evokers; still worth thinking about for Ideas, though!
3. One Super Sweet Fairy Delight, coming right up! Morgana has utterly ruined your palate with all the confections and fancies she has shared with you, but then again you and Zephy ALWAYS had a big sweeth tooth yourselves! *Cha-Ching!*
Drinking it, you feel a slight surge from your Inner Magic, a feeling of 'increased circulation' and ease of 'use' making you sigh in delight as you savored the oh so decadently rich Koffee. +1 Success on ALL Magic Rolls Accuracy Checks for this AND the next Encounter!
The rest of the Encounter then takes place as described so far - I'll check to see if their is anything that needs my Input and update things/make another post later!
>>That coffee shop the Gargryph mentioned sounded interesting. Let’s see if we can find that.
By the time the psychic feline and her entourage arrive at the shop (hopefully avoiding any extra funny business along the way), it’s nearly noon. The shop itself has a quaint storefront, with a boldly declared and fully committed-to theme: Foxes and ‘Phants.
 Once at the Koffee Shop, you're personally attended by a long, blacked haired woman (tied with a red cloth) by the name of Tiffany, who seems rather intrigued and excited to see you here.
"Oh, you're an Independent Espeon?! What a rare delgith! Please, please, allow me to serve you madam!"
Aside from her being a bit too overeager - and apparently being a natural brick wall mental-wise for how much you're getting out of her Thought and Emotion-wise (Zlitch) - she was the perfect hostess, laying out all that was avaliable for you to do and getting your drinks right away! The Persim Berry Tea was a bit of an odd request considering where you were, but the lady simply winked and brought you out a glass of it anyway - "Made it myself, just for you dear~ Enjoy!"
It was quite good, truth be told - real stimulating! Maybe a bit too stimulating too, since you could hardly keep your thoughts from bouncing all over the place.
The rest of youir companions get their custom brews, which they all enjoyed immensely (though Murkrow had a hard time not make a mess, damping her enjoyed somewhat until Tiffany got her a special Bird Straw for easy drinking)!
Anything else that involves the Shop and/or the PCs that have entered at various times is open to further inquiry...
@Redstone : In regards to the Bio Fang....as much as you're worried about them being a potential crippling problem (for you, your team, or anything around them), you realize something as you were speaking with Seddi about them: not once, since you have Caught them, have they acted up or otherwise caused you problems. Given your experience with Lani easily busting out of her Ball to climb all over your or do things her way from time to time and what you knew about how powerful the chimeric cat was, it escaping from its Ball to cause you some concern was not out of the question.
Yet, they remained inside, not causing any fuss or muss.
Leaves would eventually get a new bit of information to Seddi about Bio Fang - their 'general' personality and Nature falls under Gentle , but Playful . Which seems to baffle her thoroughly - never has there been a Bio Abaddon wit a Nature like THAT. Immodest, Tyrannical, Rash, and Destructive, yes, but not....soft in any possible way. Until now, that was....
