Hello! I recently came back after I figured out how to fix the Patcher (took long enough!). Now, however, I am stuck in the same place I was before: The Snowbank Town Gym. What Pokemon should I have for an ideal chance of victory, and what level should they be? Any help is appreciated. ^_^

Vaeryn mostly uses a combination of Ice and Dragon Pokemon, loading your team up with any combination of Fire, Fairy and/or Dragon Pokemon should help you significantly in that Gym Battle.
Backup your saves, don't lose progress!

Well if you're willing to spend a bit of time on training: go to the jungle route (I never go there anymore) and catch some tiki monkey mons then go to the labryth and catch a winnotiger and evolve it next make your starter 5 lvls over the lvl of vaeyrns gym and that's all I can give you if that won't work go over lvl your team by 10 lvls and that should work
