So, I just read something REALLY interesting about Softboiled on the Pokerole forum.
As an intentional design choice, it doesn't have an accuracy roll. It just flat out rolls a Basic Heal as long as the move is usable. The move can never fail or not be usable with multiple actions due to not having enough dice in its accuracy pool because it simply doesn't have one.
Wow.
That oughta be really useful for Mew
Hmmm...would that be 26 exp to unlock that move for Mew? Chansey and Blissey learn it at level 16 in Gen 5-7, but learn it as low as level 10-13 as well. Either way, the move will cost 20+ exp, but it'll probably be worth it in the long run.

Yeap, I noticed that a looooong time ago, but didn't mention it due to not wanting to give you any idea/it wasn't relavent until now. Now that you know, then Mew can learn it for 26 XP. Softboiled still follows the '3 Charges of it' per Encounter/Day I and Iron implemented, so while you have a gariteed heal, it isn't unlimited.

Well, Softboiled was kinda always at the back of my mind for Mew regardless, since that and Roost are two pretty common healing options for bulky Mew sets. The lack of an accuracy roll is what surprised me. Guess I should have looked at that a little more carefully...
Still, reading that the 'no accuracy roll' thing was intentional for the highly exclusive healing move is very nice.
Also, like Milk Drink, it can be used to heal the party in the games (which translates to creating Moo Moo Milk in the Skull Ruins campaign for the milk move)...hmmm...

I was surprised too when I discovered this, but then I just rolled with it and simply incorporated and planned around it. Blissey did have and use the move herself during the Vampire Sequence, after all!
Given that Mew's traumatized and is practically in a semi vegetive state, the easy heals won't matter so much right now......

What surprised me the most about what I read though was the writers saying Blissey basically has an HP value equivalent to around 37 or so.
And I thought 'sure, but to do that, she'd be healing practically non-stop and crippling her accuracy rolls for her non-healing moves into the dirt'. Since they were talking about the base pokerole rules, that would mean Blissey would have a max Vitality (and thus Defense/Sp. Defense) of 2. TWO. And in that context, using a Basic/Complete Heal move also typically requires a Will point to be spent, so they were assuming that Blissey would have a maximum Will of 10 and spend it all on using Softboiled (and succeeding on every single die rolled as well, since the heal would only be a pool of 3 D6 for a pokemon with 7 max HP.)
I don't think Blissey is quite as tanky as they think she is in the base game.
...*sigh*...I hope Mew's at least semi-functional in time for the fallout zone...Reflect Type is gonna be very important for her there if I hope to maximize what's easily usable...

Again with the toin coss? The initiative dice are (un)lucky enough as they are, so why push your luck even further?

Yeap, my thoughts exactly, but if he wants to do a coin toss, let them!
Also, on an unrelated note, you want me to get started on continuing that post in the main campaign thread, Dragonstrike?

If you think you've got a good enough layout for it, yes please.
