Important file locations
#1
With the Uncertainty of the future of Pokemon Uranium and the great lengths that the amazing community has gone through to ensure it's survival, it's important to know where some of your game files lie just in case you need to edit them or keep them safe. Over the past week, local heroes have been working tirelessly to restore the game to it's former glory. This has been solidified by the newly released Unofficial Server which brings Multiplayer back to the forefront along with several of the fan made unofficial patches that have been put forward that fixes many of the games issues, including potentially game breaking bugs, along with introducing new features such as an Automated save backup!

For starters, your default game folder.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Pokemon Uranium Team\Pokemon Uranium 1.0

Second, your games default Save Path
C:\Users\YourUsername\saved games\Pokemon Uranium

Third, your Default NeonCube Folder which contains Neoncube.ini.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Pokemon Uranium Team\Pokemon Uranium 1.0\NeonCube

Fourth, your default backup save folder (Introduced in the Unofficial Patch
C:\Users\YourUsername\Saved Games\Pokemon Uranium\Backups

Be safe and happy hunting! Big Grin

Huh, I just realized something (AGAIN). I got a completely new hard disk, and saved the complete Uranium Folder before the change on an external one. Now I transfered it back to my hardware with the new hard disk.

BUT... something seemed to went wrong...? As I started the game, it said "One of the fonts is missing, would you like to restart the game?" Well, okay... but that killed my progress. No "continue" option, only "new game". GREAT... good thing I had the rgssad and the rxdata on an USB-Stick as well. But transfering them into the Uranium folder DID NOT HELP. Now I can start all over...

Do not get me wrong, I'm not blaming you or anyone, I just would like to know: What is, in your opinion, the safest way to backup the file? Is it enough to keep the rxdata in the "Backup"-Folder or rather keep it on a external hard disk as well?

AND: Is it correct that a backup of the rxdata is created everytime one does save in-game or does it just look like this for me?
And sorry if I'm annoying ><;

You mentioned you put your .rxdata file in your Uranium Folder. That might be the issue Smile

Your saved games are kept seperate from the game folder. You can find them in C:\Users\<Username>\Saved Games\Pokemon Uranium. With the latest patch you should, as you mentioned, have a folder called "Backup" Though I'm not sure how often it generates. You can keep a copy of your save where ever you like. On your Desktop, a USB drive, any folder so long as you remember where you put it.

Now, on to the missing fonts! It sounds like one of your files was damaged, or the latest patch didn't apply properly for whatever reason. Rather than trying to repair anything, I recommend doing a clean Install. It's quick and easy and should you get lost, we have a guide that you can follow here: http://pokemonuranium.co/showthread.php?tid=59

Let's try that and go from there! Smile

Hmm. Probably you're right, something must have been damaged through that whole transfering to a different hard disk, then back and so on... it's the only way I could explain it.

The game somehow restarted itself and now everything seems to be okay. Well, at least it said "want to restart, blabla..." and after that the error message was completely vanished. Whohoo. Got also a new Online ID.

So now I'll keep that rxdata, found in Backup folder, safe on my beloved external hard disk (゚ロ゚) And replacing it with the one found in the Uranium folder shall work if there would be the maximum credible accident of Uranium being stuck/unable to play, right? Just asking for safety reasons...

Lolz. Somehow it's awesome and hilarious that even if the official downloads are down, a complete + detailed guide of downloading it somewhere else is given. THIS is a fandom that deserves its name.

Yes, in the event of a bug/Crash damaging your files, the Backup save you have protected will work Smile The stability of the game is steadily improving and I imagine one day backups won't be necessary. However I'm a firm believer that it's better to be safe than sorry.

The fans that are drawn to Uranium are simply incredible. It's not a fandom fueled by spite or money or greed. It's a fandom built on dedication and love toward the Pokemon Franchise. People find new and astonishing ways to surprise me every day.

YUS! feels great to know that. I definatelly would could not take another loss of the in-game progress, and I'm sure I would not be the only one. *puts flower on the grave of my progress*

Awesome, isn't it? But somehow, I can understand. The first time looking through the Tandor Pokedex on the wiki amazed me since there were so many great designs of new Pokemon and type-combinations that seemed ... interesting *coughfairy/fightingcoughgrass/dragoncough* And it's more "serious" and a bit "darker" due to that Nuclear and Radiation topic Big Grin

Awww, and thanks for accepting. It's flattering, since you're the main moderator here >//< *shows deep respect*

I'd recommend checking the backups folder (C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\Pokemon Uranium\Backups) to see if there is a copy of the saved file there. If its not there, then unfortunately, there is no way to recover the saved file.

Online ID doesn't store any of your information. Nor does anything else. There's no way for the devs to bring it back, unfortunately.

Going forward you may want to backup Uranium.rxdata to another place like Google Drive so it's harder to delete.
