[Game Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows

With Kee becoming emotional over her injury on top of everyone else' concerns despite her repeated attempts to alleviate them, Pyra was finally starting to become uncomfortable about it, her smile dimming to almost non-existence as she started shuffling under the crittercoon's intense and worried scrutiny. Not the pain it was causing, no (It hardly registered with her now), but with how vividly and dramatically her friends were reacting over such a minor thing. She said she was okay and there was no need to fret over it or her, but they seem to believe her for reasons that completely elude her comprehension. This whole fuss over her was baffling and not a little disconcerting for the lil' fiendess, and at this point she didn't quite know what to do to clear it up.

So she sorta stood awkwardly and quietly stared as the furry punkstar almost tearfully chided, caressed, comforted, cared, and confided for her , only occasionally flicking her gaze over to the others to observe their reactions and to the side when he got really torn up about her actions and condition. Once he was finished and pressed himself close to herself did Pyra choose to act after a good few second, tentatively reaching out with her good claw over Kee's head, hesitating briefly, before she lowered it and began ranking it softly through his hair.

"I.....okay. Okay. I don't understand fully or completely, no, but.....okay. If this has you so overwrought with fright, my broken arm is an all consuming worry to you and the others , we will leave the dungeon and get it taken care of with speedy haste. I'm fine now, and I will be better later and soon enough. So be calm, Kee. Be calm. Fret not, and....shed no tears over me. There is no need for that. All is well, and I'm fine. "

Pyra says all that with halting, slow, and concerned gentle murmur, trying her salvationdest to consul and soothe her fellow being of Darkness before he got more emotional or, inferno forbid, had a true breakdown over her condition. Despite everything he said, she was still almost entirely unconcerned about it herself, nor quite understood why her injury was bothering everyone and especially him and Karen so much. That hadn't changed in the slightest. But if it would make them feel better and return to their original and wonderful selves......she'll start treating it more seriously and get it taken care of ASAP. This whole....thing about her was just as mystifying as ever, but that didn't stop her from heading their wish, vocal and unspoken, or for caring about them with all her heart and soul.

His plea, though......well, she already gave her answer to it with Dax. That would have to be enough for him and everyone for now.

All that said, Pyra would let Kee try to Stablize her broken arm, and then promptly 'port her Team back to Sahra to report their quests success, collect their due rewards, get her arm checked and treated (if need be), and then head for their current home with Marcus.  That is (hopefully) all, 'cause I don't think the fiery demoness could take anymore drama.

So, Kee wants to make a makeshift splint, huh?  First, let's see if he can remember how to do so, as this is a decidedly human response to the situation...

Memory Check: 1 Smart + 0 Knowledge + 0 Medicine + 2 Logic = 3 D6
(5)(2)(4) 2 successes

Oh yeah, Kee remembers how to do this.  Why, he's not sure, but he does!

Next, Kee needs to gather the materials to make a splint.  This is gonna prove tricky, as leaves don't make for particularly large slings, and the bark needs to be stripped from the tree/branches in long...well, strips to create ties to hold the sling together.  Finding large enough sticks for support is fairly easy, though.

Gather Leaves: 1 Insight + 1 Survival + 0 Alert
(5)(4) 2 successes

Kee finds some leaves that look like they might be big enough to do the job.

Strip Bark: 1 Strength + 0 Knowledge + 0 Crafts = 1 D6
(4) 1 success

Kee's able to make a few strips of bark to tie together for the sling, but he's not confident that he stripped them in such a way that they'll hold for very long.  Better than nothing, though!

Finally, we have a stabilize check.  With all the above successes for material gathering, I'll add 2 D6 to the roll.

Stabilize: 2 Dex + 0 Knowledge + 0 Medicine + 2 improvised materials - 3 Difficulty = 1 D6
(5) 1 success

Kee's kind of able to make a makeshift sling.  It's not very pretty, and it probably won't hold for very long, but it gets the job done for now.  Pyra is stabilized.

While Kee is assembling the sling, Pyra's instincts attempt to take over again as her arm starts to hurt once more.

Logic: (4)(6)
Instinct: (1)(1)

Will: (4)(4)(2)(1)

Again, Pyra grits her teeth, resists the pain, and doesn't cry out, but her arm hurts while Kee is holding it in place.  Maintaining her composure is becoming harder, but the splint also lessens the pain a little since the arm isn't flopping around uselessly any more.

------------------------------------------------------

Kogeki need not do anything with his badge once Pyra holds hers up.  All of the team's badges begin to flash brightly in sync, and every member of the group is teleported out of the dungeon one by one by a column of light!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Team ??? completed a job at Rough Rock Mountain!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Making their way back to town is fairly easy and uneventful since the dungeon isn't far from Sahra.  When the group eventually returns to the guild, they find Zubat and Stufful waiting for them near the job board.

Job Done!: Mission Clear! - Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX

Stufful: "Thank you so much for rescuing me!  I thought I was gonna be lost there for much longer! Here, a little something from me to say thanks."

Zubat: "Did you find an Apple?  Yes?  Hand it over, quick!  I'm starving!  You can have some Poké for the trouble!"

The group gets 100 Poké as a reward for completing the two jobs (assuming they give the Apple to Zubat).  Floette's smiling from her counter as she watches the fledgling team turn in their completed jobs.

Concering Kee Stablizing her arm, she DOES have some unquantified amount of sticks/bark from that dead tree that nearly crushed her, so she'd more than happy to hand those over to them if it makes their job easier! That, and she's startled when she feels her teeth grind together as he put her arm in a sling, as that reaction came out of nowhere to her. Huh, what? Why did that happen......?

*The Next Scene.....!*

Pyra doesn't have much to say or do with the Team's clients other than cheerfully return their thanks in her own characteristic ways, though she does feel that strange sense of satisfaction again while interacting with them. She's curious about it (naturally), but dismisses it as she skips over to the flowery fae, returning her smile with a wide and affable one of her own. Oh, and she refrains from taking a share of the Poke herself, stating she doesn't want or need it. The lil' fiendess prefers enriching her friends over herself the vast majority of the time, so let it be said that unless she request otherwise she won't be taking any Poke the Team finds/receives unless she specifically asks for a share or its forced upon her. She's selfless like that!

"Hello again, Quest Giver Floette! Me and we have finished the bargain-task the Guild Leader set upon my friends, yes, so now it is time for them to fulfill their end of it! So if you please, I kindly request, can you take us to meet with them at a time most best?"

Kogeki slowly open the doors. He greet Stufull and Zubat. "Not a big deal. We just do our job." Kogeki then see Floette and tell her. "Heya miss Floette. Job take and done. Took a little longer than we expected, but everything turns alright in the end."

Dax thanked the Zubat, and turned to look at Pyra.

"Go get that arm checked out. We'll speak to Floette. Want me to come with you to find someone to patch it up for you?" Dax asks the she-imp who's very clearly trying to hide the pain.

"Yup, I can show you to the Guildmaster's room as soon as you're ready to go!"

Floette raises an eyebrow when she sees Pyra's arm is all bundled up with bits of tree.  "That looks like a rather...unique accessory...did you make that yourself?"

Pyra didn't have any strong reason to object to the blue drake's request, so she was about to nod back to them, when she paused as she realized something important and then politely rejected it with a slight shake of her head.

"I have not yet meet and greeted with the Leader of this Guild of Adventurers and pioneers, no, so I would-should do that first and finish our group's initiation into their fold before I get my arm treatment cleared. I'm fine and well enough to do that now and later that, yes......hmm.....but thank you for worry and concern Dax."

As previously noted, the brimstone imp seemed completely unfazed by her serious injury and oblivious to the pain she was in, but at this point it was quite clear to her everyone else thought of she should be bothered by it. Therefore, she decided to try and see if deflecting and accepting it would work to calm them down until she's better. It was not something she'd normally consider, but if your previous responses haven't yet worked so far it was time to make some changes in them.

When Floette got back to her, Pyra would instantly give her a energetic nod and follow after them, motioning with her good arm for the rest of the group to join her. As for their question on her newest piece of 'apparel' , they were quickly given a chipper refutation while pointing at it with her good claw.

"No and nay, this is a creation of my dear friend Kee! Made it in the Mystery Dungeon just for me! Need to give him my gratitude and praise for that soon too, yes, and my thanks for that reminding!"

These words from the fierly demon cause Ziggy Kee to faintly blush and handwave it off as 'no big deal'. "Y....ya don't have t'give me yar gratitude nor praise Pyra, I-I'd do that for anyone in need! \(>_<\ ) Yar arm just looked like it was askin' for some makeshift-splint 'ntil receivin' proper care."

"...I see...well then, the Guildmaster is waiting, so let's not delay a moment longer!"

It's almost like a switch was flipped for Floette.  One moment, curious and worried(?), super cheery and carefree the next, dropping the topic of Pyra entirely.

The whole team follows Floette to the Guildmaster's room, where they find Delphox sitting in her chair, just like before.  The fox pokemon's eyes narrow a little when she sees Pyra, but she gets straight to business and addresses the whole group.  No nonsense from this fox.

"I've heard that you completed your assigned tasks.  I was also informed that you managed to do so while one of the guild's teams was pursuing the very same jobs.  As such, I commend your hard work, and you shall all be allowed the opportunity to join the Adventurer's Guild."

"That being said, I do hope you'll continue to do good work for us in between outings.  The guild can always use more able bodies.  There's seemingly never an end to the job postings, and it falls to us to fulfill the requests in the absence of more specialized organizations."

"Floette can show you where your rooms are and give you the speech concerning the guild's rules and practices later, but I wish to make one clear personally.  Teams generally do not share the rewards for jobs with each other, particularly when fulfilling job requests with more middling rewards.  Many of the pokemon here are also very proud of what they're capable of doing on their own, as this is a rather prestigious organization, and everyone here is trying to make their own living.  I suggest you temper your expectations with that in mind."

"Any questions?"

Pyra's first impressions of Delphox upon skipping into their chamber were ones of marked interest and a slight sense of disquiet. The mage fox's towering presence, authoritative bearings, and strong calmness were all striking -especially coming from an elite Fire type! - but those qualities coupled with that brief but potent narrow-eyed stare through her for a bit of a loop and made her tense. Why was the Kitsune Mystic so intent on them for a second?  It was a question she had no real or good answer to, so the lil' fiendess elected to act seriously and carefully around them, least she inadvertently find out why in some unspeakably bad ways and/or jeapordize her friend's chance to join the Guild. Uncharacteristic of her, but she's learnt enough by now to know when to act like so.

Case in point, when they extended an open invitation into their Guild for all of them and diplomatically suggested they continue to do quests and menial grunt work for them and it, she bowed to them in response, her good arm crossed on her chest, claw over her heart, and her expression  solmen but respectful.

"I accept your invitation, Superior Delphox. It is my friends' wishes to become members of your Guild and be great and renowned Adventurers someday, so I must join them and do all in my power to aid them and fulfill their heart's desires. In fair trade and exchange will we do as you ask us to, and do all we can to bring glory, respect, and strength to you and the Guild, until such time that we no longer serve you. I promise you that."

Their rather pointed advice struck a cord within the brimstone imp, nearly causing her to frown both in thoughtfulness and displeasure as she silently nodded back to them. So that was part of the reason those foals and arrogant Leader rejected her bargain before it could even be heard. Hmm.....well, it didn't make her any less unforgiving/disdainful of the group (for reasons well established by this point), but it at least make her judge their them and their transgression less harshly and prepared her for such behavior from other Teams now. Just because she knows Teams are super prideful + competitive doesn't retroactively forgive Ponyta's rudeness (nor deserving of an apology or recompense) or make it okay for them to be aloof jerk-offs in negotiations, but now that she knows that she won't hold such standards against others or get frustrated about it too much.

Finally, Delphox's prompt for questions brings several from her immediately.

"My team and I are currently having a home built outside of Sahra Town, where we intend to live and operate out of when it's completed. When that time comes, would it be okay for us to move out of the Guild and into our house? (....) Is it possible and acceptable for us to issue requests and Jobs to the Guild as members of it, if we have the means to fund their Rewards and pay tribute to the Guild for doing so? (...) What is the.....chain of command for the Guild? What matters and concerns would you prefer us to bring you directly, instead of one of your subordinates?"
