[Game Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows

Daxter smiles. "That's all I ask! I think your methods work just fine, just need to explain to someone who doesn't understand what you're doing. You absolutely don't need to apologise for that!"

Daxter frowns in confusion. "Wait, a bribe? Oh, crap, that was just a misunderstanding! We weren't trying to bribe you at all! We were just suggesting an alliance so that we could get through the dungeon a little more easily. And so that we could share the reward equally, of course. We really didn't mean to offend you guys! We were just trying to be polite and friendly. Wow, that might explain why you were so against working with us. Man, that sucks. I know you didn't want to team up with us last time because you thought that we couldn't help much cos we're so new, but I can promise you that we're not actually that bad. We've beaten our share of some of the tougher dudes too, actually. A Boldore and his gang of Roggenrola in the Dry Forest, and a nasty piece of work named Monferno in the Hall of Magic. Hell, we beat that Staravia dude, and a couple of his friends in a training dungeon today.

Sorry if that sounds like I'm boasting, definitely not my intention. Just trying to say that we're not that bad. We're new in town, and we don't have many allies, so I'd like to change that. At the very least, I'd like to be neutral with as many Pokemon as possible. Pointless animosity's not gonna get us anywhere, right? What do you say? Can we start over?"

She simply gives the chimera cat a small wave and one of her cheerful smiles as she marches over to them and their group, letting them have first crack at talking. Her plan was to intrude upon them for chat, so in her mind it was only fair they get in their share of questions, posturing, and forewarnings.

"*Bows* It is I, Pyra the Devimp, She Who Is From The Dark Inferno, Chimera Chimical. Sorry and apologizes for disturbing your communion and meal, but I desired to properly meet with you and your own, my intent of peace. Forgive my intrusion, I ask you please."

The floating blob's comment earns them a curious, thoughtful look, before giving them a single nod back.

"That is acceptable and fair, yes, if you will share your findings and Insights with me too. Understand myself completely, I yet do not, so any help towards that would be most appreciated, Wise Solosis."

Chimical's pointed question makes her pause, completely non-plussed and unbothered by their strutting as she thought of how exactly to word her response to be both comprehensible and non-inflammatory. From her experiences she tended to have a hard time being understandable and/or all that likable when talking with others outside of her group (and sometimes not even with them), and this time she really didn't want to screw the Poocheyena given her intentions.

After a short while she decided upon a tentative but still direct approach, tilting her head at the venomous kitten and their mates before carefully speaking.

"As I said-told, I wanted and desired to meet with you all, Chimical, Solosis, and Golett of Team Artificer. For ever since we last.....meet, I have been....curious, yes, about you and your Team. Simply to put, to state plainly and clear, I wish to ask you some questions if you all will permit. In exchange, as a fair trade, I will also answer any question you have of me or my Team, or a Favor for later if I can not. How our talk will go, if we decide to speak with one another, will-could determine if I have anything else to offer."

Pyra gives Team Artificer a questioning but welcoming, polite, and even warm smile.

"Well, how does that sound to you all thus?"

*Brief Flashback!*

Pyra gave Dax an odd look as he praised his bird brained brutish enemies pointed assault upon and wanting to congratulate them for, looking simultaneously confused, taken aback, and strangely annoyed.

".....Understand, I do not, your enjoyment of those fowls brutality upon yourself, I most definitely no. Do you, mayhaps, have an liking for......Pain' , like being....bullied and beaten up like so? For that is the only reason I can fathom your admiration-respect of those awful avians, your desire to make friends-allies with them, yes."

Yeouch. What a critique! Especially when you consider she's the chief eccentric of the group. Ye-ouch.

The brimstone imp considers the aquatic salamander's rebutal with a contemplative and wane smile, mulling it over for several seconds before inclining her head back to him in acknowledgement. However, what she said next was.....divisive, yet strangely heartfelt.

"You have sound points, one that are well thought out and reason, I believe-think. For anyone else not like us, they might be worth consideration, however much or little they give true. However-yet, I will say again as I said before, in the Magical, mysterious Hall: I care not for anyone much at all, save for you, our friends, and very few that have earned such regard. Cowardly Bonsly's and other Pokemon feelings, hopes, dreams, wellbeing, and many many other things I hold absolutely no regard, sympathy, and compassion for. Why should I, for some craven stranger, a Pokemon I know and hold hardly anything at all, who have not earned or due anything from me, or have reason to be given special consideration? Why should we care, the group, at all? Let the petrified sapling wallow in their fear-failings, be consumed by the terror revelation spirit ninja Kogeki gave him, if they can not overcome, rise above it and take heart the mercy and lesson he has given them, I say indeed.

But, to say as you did in another way, that is just what I think-believe. Just as you feel about your opinion. We both may be right, may be wrong, or something else entirely beyond. It matters not. Understand each other reasoning, thoughts, beliefs, us, deeply-truly, we do not have to. You are my friend, one of my most treasured heartfelt treasure, one who gives purpose and meaning to my existence and life. I will love and accept you and all that is you entirely, no matter what. Hopefully, one day, you will can do the same or similar with me, Dax."

Kogeki's compromise between her and Dax's suggestions earns him a somewhat diminished smile, as she believes that Bonsly was not owed even the slightest bit of attention beyond 'Mook I scared witless' . However she none the less still nods back to him, accepting his decision regardless. As always, she acts like she does: true to herself, weird, warped, and wild as it is.

"Wait what? Fuck no! I didn't enjoy the pain, I just enjoyed the challenge. Those guys didn't have any malice or cruelty behind what they were doing. It was just a training exercise. What they did is definitely what some of our more smarter enemies will do. We have to be prepared for that sort of thing, and these guys were helping us with that. Besides, we're not thugs. If we fight someone, and they fight well, we shouldn't hate them for it. Skill's gotta be respected. It's one thing to hate someone who attacks us, but these guys were actually helping us get better at fighting that sort of thing. For example, I would never have figured out how to block that kind of tactic if we didn't go up against it in training.

As for that thing about not caring about others, I kinda get it, but I also disagree with it. When we start thinking of 'us and them', we start to distance ourselves from everyone else. There's really no need to do that for no reason. Getting along with the people here's the easiest way to cohabit, in my opinion. Think about it this way: Kogeki scared a young member of another team out of their wits. How do you think that team would see us now? How do you think they'd react to seeing us in a dungeon? They might immediately attack us because they think that we're a bunch of thugs now. Obviously, that's not as important as generally being nice and compassionate, but it probably will be what happens if we get a bad reputation.

That brings me to another thought. Please don't take this the wrong way, because I'm actually asking to try and understand how you think a little better. What makes you so compassionate and affectionate towards us and not the others around here? First time we ever met was in that dungeon, which means that you don't know us much longer than you know the people here. What makes us your friends and them not your friends? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that you see me as your ally, and I definitely see you as mine too, but I'd just like to understand your reasoning a little better."

(Very sorry for the absence of any posts/input from my side, I've been contemplating what to actually do.)

Quote:Klink and Lumia head back to their quarters in the guild, and the main members of Team Omega Seekers head to the dining hall to get some grub.

The dining hall is particularly busy tonight, filled with several members of the guild.  Most notably, Team OS can see these pokemon present at a glance:

(Insert list of Pokemon here)
As usual, Coldwell is more than happy to attempt to fulfill any pokemon friendly orders everyone may have (preferably chilled).  If the group wishes to interact with these pokemon in any way before turning in for the day, feel free to do so!

For today's dinner Kee wishes for the SWEETEST and MOST SUGARY meal Coldwell can offer, no matter the calories. "Dontcha be greedy with tha Pecha Berries nor Honey there, will ya?~ I've gotten some d'cent battles t'day and t'morrow's gonna be a busy day, I'm yeaaaarnin' for some sugary treat if ya may please!~~" (★ω★ )

Concerning everyone talking and discussing, the colorful crittercoon is totally fine to just listen to everyone's points without judging or critizing anyone. He doesn't appear very talkactive tonight nor wants to interrupt, and Daxter already told how their training went. He DOES have his own opinion about Kogeki's action towards that Bonsly but prefers to not share it this time. The last thing that he want to is starting a fuss over dinner!

When everyone eventualy leaves the table to meet various other Guild Members in the dining hall, Kee lightly sighs. "Well, there they go...~" He can't help but to feel somewhat lost and - if he's being REALLY honest to himself - a tad bit lonely as he's there at the table finishing up his sugary dinner. A sudden and sharp pain in his heart causes him to cringe and his fur to instinctively bristle, it were moments like THIS when he misses Octavia the most. He KNOWS that the sparkly faeeveelution is out there somewhere, she just HAVE TO. And hell will freeze over if he won't do anything in in his might to FIND her!

He shakes and stretches himself to clear his mind from these thoughts eventually. Not wanting to chip into anyone's business for feeling very tired yet, Ziggy Kee eventually leaves the table to visit:

Quote:- A group of Drilbur are casually chatting amongst each other over their vittles as well

If they let him, that is. He doesn't appear very agressive nor looks like he's seeking to fightfightfight tonight, immense curiosity is what leads him instead. He'll greet them in a singsang voice: "Huh, hi there. Haven't seen yar lot 'round here yet! I take ya're adventurers too, are ya? How's yar day been?"

"*Tilts head confusingly* Challenge? What is that? How is that? Do not know that word and concept, no."

The rest of what he had to say about that Team of bully birds was more comprehensible to her, though she didn't entirely agree with it. In her mind you should despise ANYONE that chooses to Fight and/or do harm to you or your friends, or at least hold a healthy amount of wariness and distrust for that sort. In light of the rest of his argument, though, she could she he was making a good point - just not one she was entirely behind. Thus, she gave him a  skeptical look but ultimately slowly nodded back in agreement.

"Very well, okay, I can somewhat understand your friendly-eagerness towards those aggravating avian. It is not a feeling....view I share, no, but if you see value and worth in their brutal tactics and assault I shan't dispute it. Learn from it, we can indeed, and make our future battles that much more safe and easy."

His comeback about Bonsly was not as warmly received, and she simply shrugged back at him, non-plussed.

"If they see Kogeki or our Team as enemies for his scary lesson, horrible adversaries to avenge them own inadequacy upon, so be it. We will crush them for their foolish impudence, yes, and then get them throw out of the Guild for attacking their fellow Adventurers. Simple that be, me believe-thinks, and be very satisfying to do too, ho hm~. Hmm....but what is this 'reputation' you speak of, its meaning to this talk? A idea about it, I do not have one, no. Ah, and I know to be nice, speak politely and well to others, draco newt Dax. See no reason to be rude, mean, or hostile to anyone except those that have truly earned me or my friends ire, indeed, and prefer being happy and free with those around me. No reason to care for others, though, I see for me."

Dax's last question bring her entirely up short, causing her to abruptly cease talking and stare at him for a moment. She then looked towards the ceiling in thoughtfulness, her smile diminishing bit by bity as she ponder this most unexpected issue deeply until she had a frown like Snubull smelt something awful. Why did she loved, adored, treasured, and held her friends and seldom few others in high exaltion, but held almost nothing for Pokemon outside that most esteemed collection of individuals? Was it their shared purpose and origin, coming from Human Worlds to do battle and destroy The Darkness? Was it because they were the first she ever truly knew and could accept with all her heart? Did they have some special quality or distinction that placed them above the rest of the aimless ramble and crowd? Was it all that together, or something else entirely. What and why?

"I.....I.......I do not know, Dax. Never have I realized that.......that......that I had for you and our friends. It's.....just feels natural and right, to treat you all like that and others beyond thus. Like it should be that way, that it was and would always be that way. Sorry, but....I have no other answer I can give, for you or myself....."

Pyra looked troubled and lost for that moment, strangely vulnerable for an otherwise unphasable and unflappable she-demon. It'll pass, of course, but for now....

A/N: AAAA so much RP today, we just started the first gym battle in SE and now there's a whole lot of morality convo happening here  Big Grin

Daxter chuckles. "A challenge is something difficult. I enjoy doing something more difficult than doing something easy, because pretty much anyone can do easy stuff, but only the really skilled ones can do more difficult stuff. It sets you apart from everyone else, and gives you a sense of accomplishment, if you get what I mean. I always feel a little thrill when I can do something that other people can't. Makes me feel unique, and respected. Well... I think that's what always happens. I say a lot of stuff like I have tons of experience, but I really don't know if I do. Besides the point though. I just like that feeling, is all it is. And I'll say it again. It was just training. It's not like they ambushed us in the middle of the night for no good reason. Staravia and his friends were helping us.

Dax is not sure how to respond to her callous response, but he decides to try anyway. "Uh... That's the sort of thing someone self centered and conceited would say Pyra. I hope you're not that type of person. Your reputation is how others see you Pyra. It's a very good thing to not care how others see you, but it can matter at times. If you have a bad reputation, people won't respect the things you say or do. And a little respect can go a long way anywhere. I get it. There were definitely a few chaps around here who were rude to us the past few days, but I can kind of see where they were coming from. They've been here a while, and earned respect. We're the newcomers here. Nobody knows anything about us, and that means that they'll make assumptions about us to fill those gaps in their knowledge. It's up to us to rectify that. It's natural for anyone to do that. Sure, being feared is one way to go about being respected, but it's a horrible relationship to have with others. You'll just make more and more enemies that way. In my opinion, you should be able to put your pride aside and get along with people who've wronged you. Only if they're willing to make things right, though. I'd be willing to make peace with almost anyone, as long as they prepared to make up for anything wrong they've done. Or if they feel actual remorse. I'd even befriend Team Artificers if they were willing to genuinely apologise for trying to push us around."

Sensing that Pyra's on the backfoot, Daxter pressed his advantage. "See? Feelings and thoughts are so bloomin' complicated! You haven't known any of us for that long, but you were willing to trust us for absolutely no reason. You were willing to trust me despite my outburst about protecting Klink, and through every time I've contradicted you. Even when you-" Daxter bends forward and whispers the next part. "wanted to eat that other Pokemon. I stood against you, and yet here you are, hugging me and congratulating me for clearing the practice dungeon. There are plenty of nice Pokemon out there, and I think that you could stand to show a little more kindness and compassion like you've been showing all of us. There's definitely potential for you to be the gentle, kind giant of the guild. Uh, sorry if that's insulting or something. You are like, almost twice as tall as me, and anyone would imagine you'd get bigger and pretty damn scary as you evolve. You just need to... Temper, those urges that make you treat 'outsiders' with such carelessness.

That's not to say you should treat enemies like that. We should absolutely beat the shit out of those guys. But there's always the chance that they'd feel sorry for what they did and try to make up for it. Mercy is just as strong as power, if you ask me. Think about it, Pyra."

"It's a honor in meet, Leader of Team Slink. My name is Kogeki "Anubis" Kurayami, member of Team Omega Seekers, and ninja in training. But call me Kogeki."

Kogeki return Torracat gaze. "Our first meet was not the best, but thank you for the opportunity in fight against you. I would like to have a rematch against you in the future if you still want to fight again. Not today of course since I sore after the fights of today."

Torracat continues to just silently glare at Kogeki, his eyes seeming to burn holes straight through the Riolu.

Liepard just playfully chuckles.  "Oh, I do believe you'll have to forgive my new recruit.  He hasn't quite forgiven you yet for nearly causing him to fail his initiation test.~  Ah, but that's not why you're here, now, is it?  Unfortunately, I also believe that we won't have much friendly chatter to look forward to if you join us.  Still, it is lovely to meet you, Kogeki, and I do hope that there won't be any trouble between our two teams later."

Liepard very, very, very briefly glances in Torracat's direction as she says that last part.
