[Game Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows

AHAHAHAHAHAH, victory!!1 Once things have tuned down, Ziggy Kee wastes no moment and rushes over to the now unconscious Zoroark. He's carefully at first sniffing on her, then giving her a gentle nudge with his nose, then finally a soft head-bonk. His head turns so his deep-red eyes are fixating Machamp, a somewhat worried glance in them. "She'll be okay, now will she...? Please tell me she will now that these dumb shadow-y stuff has left her, Machamp..."

"Oh, and can ya tell WHAT DAFAQUE has actu'lly happened to ya? Did she do anythin' to ya, have ya seen her b'fore already?? She's been acting freakingly strange...!" Every hair of Kee's fine fur seems to brim with curiosity and interest as his bushy tail starts to wagg.

"I think Zoroark will be fine.  Probably.  I don't know what happened to her exactly, but whatever you kids did, I have a feeling it worked.  As for what happened to me...well, she kidnapped me, obviously.  Was going on about how 'the whole town would be hers thanks to this plate' or something like that.  Definitely didn't seem like her usual self."

"Oh, do I know her?  Yeah, of course I know her!  She's one of the regulars in Sahra Town!  Lives there and everything.  She's a trickster, but far from malicious normally."

Eventually, the fiendess slowly adverted her gaze from Zoroark, looking around the room tiredly for something else to focus on, right before he gaze landed onto the poor Zorua she literally scared stiff. A strange whim suddenly overtook her, and out of a total lack of other feeling or reason against she decided to head it, walking right over to it, looming over its Fainted form. Then, with surprising gentleness, Pyra picked them up in both claws, looked them over blankly, and attempted to give them a strong but not rough shake. If you asked her why she was trying to wake up the fox kit she badly spooked, she wouldn't have an answer - she just felt like it, and so she did.

It doesn't take long for the Zorua to stir after Pyra starts shaking them.  "...mmmmm...just 5 more minutes mom..."

They open their eyes.  Blink.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

They start struggling and attempt to wiggle out of Pyra's grip.  Does Pyra let them go or try to hold on?

Things get really dangerous pretty quickly. He see the wave of darkness coming at them. Kogeki launch a bit in the front of the group, trying to defend them against the darkness. But Machamp thankfully protect everyone from the last attack, shielding everyone.

When the tremble subside, Kogeki open the eyes and he see Machamp a bit bruisie but most okay. Kogeki cross his arms and then tell Machamp. "Just doing our job. We are adventures after all. Speaking of property...yes, have interest in the property. Problem is, we give most of the money we had at the time to Zoroark thinking it was you. She trick us."

"Hopefully she have our money, but I very doubt. I will check if Zoroark is still under the effects of that darkness...and see if she or her children have our money. And of course, make sure they are unconscious to avoid more problems."

"You can talk with my companions if you need any more information Machamp. Excuse me."

Kogeki then separate from Machamp for a second, getting close to Zoroark and her Zoruas. He will indeed check the fall enemies if they carry something with them and make sure they stay unconscious. And drain a few Auras in the process.

Action: Check the falling enemies and see if they have something interesting. And Drain their Auras without Machamp notice.

"Oh, she duped you too, huh?  Well, tell you what, I'll build what she promised you at a discount in exchange for saving my hide.  Half off sound good?  And I'm pretty sure she's stashed anything she's stolen around here somewhere, so if she took your money, it's probably here."

Kogeki does indeed find the money they paid 'machamp' with on Zoroark, in a bag she's wearing around her hip.  He also finds a piece of loose black fur that seems to shimmer and change colors in the light.  Kogeki can add 1 unit of Zoroark fur to his inventory.

The sound of one of the now conscious Zorua that Pyra is holding screaming in terror is particularly distracting, so Kogeki is able to do his thing to the unconscious Zoroark unnoticed by the large fighting type.

"Wait, Kogeki, what are y-"

But by the time he has, Kogeki's already kneeled down in front of the large fox and started his vengeful practice.  Zoroark convulses and cringes, trying to subconsciously scream but unable to.

As Kogeki holds his bone decorated paw out and exerts his influence, a shadow leaps from Zoroark's body to Kogeki's hand, enveloping it.

Kogeki suddenly finds himself in the same situation Zoroark was just in as she goes quiet and slips into unconsciousness once more.  The riolu cringes as his muscles tighten involuntarily and the shadowy energy seeps into his bones.

Kogeki's Primal increases to 1. (no increases or decreases anywhere else)

Kogeki learns Shadow Blitz! 

Accuracy: Dexterity+Fight+Brawl
Damage: Strength+1
Effectiveness: Super Effective against non-Shadow pokemon, Not Very Effective against Shadow pokemon

Kogeki collapses to his knees as Karen and Marcus run over to him, looking quite worried.

Kogeki feels this urge to feed more, to drain more auras, but he's also completely exhausted, barely able to move. The rush of power felt amazing at first, but that shadowy energy...it felt like it was simultaneously draining his energy as well, eating away at his sense of self.

When he looks at his paw, though, he can see a slight aura of shadow enveloping it. As if it's now a part of him.

And he has a feeling he can use it as a weapon, a new move to smite his enemies with.

Pyra remains unphased by the suddenly screaming fox kit, keeping her grip tight on its scruff as she let out a small *sigh* and shook them a bit more to make them stop.

"Calm down, little one. Our battle with you and your kin is over. My group and I mean no harm to you now. I simply have some......questions to ask you, that is all."

If he persists in his freak-out, she'll attempt another Intimidation Check to get them to 'calm them down' , so to speak. This whole engagement also prevents her from noticing what happened to Kogeki, and if the group is smart and observative enough they would endeavor to keep it that way, least they want to find out how willing the demoness was to attack a team mate inflicted with The Darkness.

He could felt it. The power he absorb. Making growing in strength and the surge of darkness who is inside of him now...but...also almost loosing his sense of self.

Is this...the power of darkness?

Kogeki barely had time to make a more reasonable though, before he collapsed in his knees. "I...I..." He almost puke in the state he was, but to recompose himself. "When I touch Zoroark...in me do my usual Aura thing...something simple...jump inside of Zoroark. A...shadow. But, this doesn't make any sense. All that darkness should be away by now. I...also felt my Aura ability becoming...more thisty."

Kogeki would be lying if he say that urge of power make feel he could rule the world...but he also feel his sense of self, his Instincts kicking in.

And that's something that terrify him.

He looks at his own hand. Seeing the darkness inside. "Karen, can you use your Psychic abilities to check how serious is the Infection? How severe it is?"

"Marcus, tell the others what happen. Perhaps if you guys faint me like we did with Zoroark, it might help before this shadow Infection to much strong. If did not work...Cut my arm off Marcus. It might stop the Infection."

"If did not work, kill me. I rather die or loose a arm then become a monster who can hurt my friends."

HNNNNNNGGGGG being called 'a kid' kinda puts Kee in a fould mood, he pouts as he throws a quick aaangry glance at Machamp: For one short moment it even looks like he's about to scream at the four-armed fighter that he's a grown man... Before he forces himself to swallow his pride.

His tone of voice is soft, there's an undertone of 'keep yourself cool' in it as Kee ponders about Machamp's words. "Dat plate, ya're sayin'? ...Oh, THE plate that's now in the claw-paws of that Darcula-guy... Ahahaha... *nervous laughter* Where dafaque did she got that plate from though? Ya know anythin' 'bout that or tha plate itself, by chance?? Something about that THING... Well, there's SOMETHIN' 'bout it. Nothin' good, for cert'n."

"Whoa whoa whoa, calm down!  Calm down!  I don't think it's that severe!  I mean, you're still talking coherently and all, right?  Thinking rationally?  That's the word for it, isn't it...?  Anyways..."

Karen seems to agree with him.  "You're making me really nervous, Kogeki.  Please don't say stuff like that...I can't tell anything's wrong with you emotionally...other than the fact that you seem to be freaking out...and it's making me freak out, too!"

"Let's all just try to calm down here.  Most stories about pokemon going Primal, it's a slow process, not a fast one.  There's warning signs.  If it gets worse, that's when it becomes a problem, but you can try to spend some time to repress any natural urges, or so the stories say.  If you're really determined, you can force it to go away, but that's rather difficult.  I don't know about the whole shadow thing, but it sounds like it's tied to how close you are to going fully Primal.  Maybe be a bit more careful with using your...let's call them 'natural abilities', until you're certain the danger has passed.  I don't know if that actually is related, but it was at least involved this time from what you're saying. Do that and try to stay out of stressful situations, and I think you'll probably be fine."

(OOC translation: Primal stats can decrease naturally over longer periods of time, or you can spend 50 exp to decrease it by 1 immediately)

Strangely enough, Pyra expression lightens up as the fox kit somewhat calmed down, and so rather calmly begin her inquiries.

"You will not be eaten, so do not fear that end. My questions for you are thus: how and when did your mother end up like she did, what do you remember about the meeting between.....that bat lord and his minion with her, and......"

The smol demoness pauses for a bit, looking a bit.....perplexed as her last question fully settled in her mind.

"......Would you be willing to join my friends group? You are a fearful one, and you attacked my friends, that is most true.....but......your were only following your mother, and she was not in her right mind and SOUL, so I.... I can forgive your choice to head her command, little one. Zorua...I don't know why, but I believe you would be a.....good fit for my friend's group. They can make you someone strong, someone that can be feared and revered in.....equal measure. They will treat you well, and you shall not be wanting for much. If you do not trust me...."

Carefully and maintaining her grip on the Zorua, she releases one claw and uses it to rummage through her bag, until she stops pulls out a Tiny Reviver Seed to show them.

".....I will give this to you to revive your mother. Regardless of your choice. If you decide not to join the group now, that is okay. Consider it a gift for now, and a open offer for the future, when or if you wish to pursue it."

Daxter stares at the beaten and bruised Machamp in confusion. "So... You weren't the one we spoke to back in town, then? Bollocks. We gave all of our money to her. She's not usually like that, then? Maybe it's that Plate thing? The power might have been making her go a little... nuts. Or maybe it was that weird shadow stuff. Either way, we've gotta get her back to town. Maybe get her fixed up by that Audino fella and question her. I've got some things of my own to ask her, but I doubt Flygon would let her out of his custody. Hmmmm. Guess I'll just ask nicely then..."

Daxter looks over at Pyra and he tenses immediately as he sees her clutching the wriggling Zorua. Just as he's about to shout a warning at her, he takes notice of her uncharacteristically gentle demeanour and pauses. He keeps his eye on her, making sure that she doesn't do anything stupid but fails to notice Kogeki absorbing the Zoroark's aura. Marcus's shout of shock draws his attention away from Pyra, catching sight of Kogeki kneeling next to the Zoroark and joins Marcus's and Karen's shouts of dismay. He steps closer, concerned that Kogeki might have hurt Zoroark but upon seeing that she seems alright he turns around and stares at him with a look of mild disgust. This look very quickly changes to anger as Kogeki makes his absurd suggestions

"Chop your arm off? Kill you? What the fuck is the matter with you, mate? Are you really so dense that you think any of us would be willing to do something like that? You know what? I'm done. I'm fucking done. I'm out. I'm taking my share of that money and I'm leaving. Fuck this team. I don't need this shit any more. I'll go and start my own team or join one of the others. Kee, Karen, I've got nothing against you. You two aren't all that bad but I can't be in a team with either Pyra or Kogeki."

He clenches his fists as he glares at Kogeki in anger. "In your place, I would have stuck around and tried to help against Nohface. Even if I would have ended up getting knocked out. That's the kind of teammate you could have relied on me to be. If I can't rely on you to have my back when it really counts, then I don't want to be in a team with you. I'll see you around, mate. Maybe you'll have grown a spine by then. Don't hurt or kill anyone or I'm gonna come after you. I've beaten you once already, and you can bet your ass I'll do my very best to do it again. It's not something I want to do, but make no mistake. I won't hesitate. If you want to talk any further, you can find me at the guild."

As for Pyra, he appears to be gearing up for an emotionally charged rant but takes a deep breath and paces to calm down before walking back and speaking to her in a slightly defeated tone. "I've been trying to get you to see things my way ever since we got here and I've gotten jack shit in response. You've shown yourself to have a weird, warped and frankly fucked sense of morality and I don't want any of it. I'm sick of stopping you from taking things too far and I'm terrified that I'm eventually not gonna be able to stop you at some point. Something like that is way too much for my conscience."

His voice then softens slightly as he tiredly stares at her. "I told you that I've mostly given up on you, but that's not all true, love. I just know that there's nothing I can do. Anything further needs to come from you. Think about those things we talked about yesterday, and if you come to a conclusion that you think is worth talking to me about, come and find me. Until then, just give me some space. And try not to kill or eat anyone."

At that, Daxter will refuse to speak to the rest of the team about the matter. He will retrieve his share of the money that the team had given Zoroark and will also take his share of more money and supplies that Zoroark and her children may have stashed away. Instead of keeping those, however, he'll set them aside for her children as they might need them more than he does if she ends up getting locked away.

Dax's shouting at Kogeki manages to grab Pyra's attention after she questioned little Zorua and give them her offer, causing her to wearily turn her head towards the commotion he was making. Oh, what was it this time that the ninja said or the newt took poorly that set him - 

Her thought process screeched to a halt as he said those ominous, terrible words:

"I'm done. I'm fucking done. I'm out. I'm taking my share of that money and I'm leaving. (...)"

Leaving.

Dax is.....leaving?

Leaving the group?

......No. No. No, no, no, no, nononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononowhy.

Why? Why?! WHY?! WHY WAS DEX LEAVING THE GROUP?!

The fiendess' grip suddenly tightened on the poor fox kit, listening with avid horror as he laid out his reasons. His gripes against the phantom brave.....they were just nonsensical to her, words born out of that odd misplaced anger and frustration he had with Kogeki's (to them) enraging behavior and his recent ire over getting rebutted by her and them. Why was that reason enough for him to leave? Was it yet another feeling motivating him that elu -

His gaze then turned to her, and she stilled as he began to list his grievances with her. Gradually, the brimstone imp's pupil began to shrink, her eyes widening in shock, dismay, and fright. By the end of his speech, with that one last....last borderline incomprehensible offer he made........her expression was full of heartbreak and d e s p a i r as she came to the most unholy, wretched, and cruel realization.

She did this. She drove him away. She made him so angry, so upset and bitter over their.....their differences in thought and perspective, so stressed out of the lack of understanding between them......he just couldn't handle it anymore. Couldn't handle her, couldn't handle Kogeki, couldn't stand to be on the same team as them, and possibly even tainted the idea of working together with the rest of the group by association. She, Pyra the Devimp.....this was all her fault. Her fault for driving away and almost assuredly permanently alienating him from her. Because how was she supposed to do what he asked? What would be good enough, after all the...all the hurt she put him through? When she hardly has even the beginning of a clue of what exactly he's looking for, instead of her 'fucked sense of morality' , whatever the Inferno that was supposed to mean.

The only thing she could understand now, the truth took to heart like a stake right through it......was that it was her fault for making her beloved Dax leave the group.

Her fault.

Slowly, her grip on the Zorua slacked, until she let go of them entirely, letting the creature of the Dark plop onto the floor like a fallen Berry. Pyra.....she just looked at Dax with that raw and self-recriminating expression as she sank to her knees, her gaze vacant.
