[Game Thread] Lord Windos’ PokeRole Adventure 2: The Wild Lands

Seddi will hand the phone to Akamu.  Time for the Alolan to meet the Professor properly!  "Alright bucko, give her the story.  And try to keep it brief and to the point."

He'd be quick to take it.

''First the Bio-Fang and now this, I'm really not making it easy for you all... Here we go, in short. I caught those.. creatures in a world not quite like ours, though they seem to be connected by *pipes* in several places. I still don't know how I ended up there by starting on the beach but I did. Catching the purple guy wasn't too bad but *this* was a catch most fortunate and accidental. A mere distraction while fighting for our lives turned into well *this* Ultra Ball loaded with extreme power, strange as it could be.''

"No, you are not. The distractions from the inane busy work is a welcome reprieve, however. *Sighs* Especially in light of a certain someone generating chaos and controversy within the local government - you wouldn't happen to know why  they got involved, Sedd?""

Err...

The professor's frown took on a studious quality as you described what you realize was a trip to another World and BACK and miraculously catching the Legendary Big Gloomy Dragon. Gloomtail - that name suddenly popped into your head, as you were thinking about him. That was this Legend's Name.

Presumably you share this with the professor too, as well as the difficulty that Ultra Ball seemed to have properly containing the Creature's energy, which caused her frown to deepen as she pondered things.

"....If you hadn't Caught it like you did, you would not have been able to Catch it at all. From what I've gathered from the data so far - garbled and corrupted as it is in places - for any Capture attempt to work it had to be both Weakened enough to be forced into a Pokeball but not unconscious. The Dragon's energy levels would be too low and the variance in what a typical Ball is designed to Catch would be too great for it to work, setting aside the notorious difficulty of properly containing a Legend Class Entity inside a regular Pokeball. And that is a problem - though more to it than you and most others.

"Due to the fundamentally incompatibility between whatever this Dragon is and standard Pokeball technology, it won't be able to ever reach its full power or draw upon and synergize with your own to bolster its. Not without considerable effort to naturalize and acclimate it to you and the new World it now lives in. The Ultra Ball its in is quite literally acting as a power restrainer to the Legend - good for you to maintain control over it, if not good for it. *Curious Frown* Even without the Power Restraint factored in, however....it seems like this Legend's Baseline Power is more comparable to a Pseudo Legendary. A 'High Tier' one prior to Capture, and a 'Middling Tier' now, to use the crude classifications some Trainers like to use. Almost like an inverse Ultra Beast....or perhaps our world's Pokemon would be considered such to it and its home world denizens..."

She mumbles the last two lines more to herself than to anyone - the information within normally would be considered highly classified, but between Akamu being a Alolan Kahuna aspiree and Sylvia being a Researcher of some reknown and known professionalism I suppose sharing anything on Ultra Beasts is fine.

"....Hold on for one moment, and hold this phone over Gloomtail's Ball please."

You do so, and you see a few programs popping up on the screen and a lot of data and text flying across it, before a big blue 'COMPLETE!' flashed before your eyes.

"Done. I've put a proxy and several firewalls over the Ball's True Data and Pokemon. Only myself, Seddi, and other High Rank Researchers can access Gloomtail's actual information, much less find out about it. I've classified it as a Unknown Mutant variant of a Drampa, tentatively a potential and powerful hybrid offspring between one and a Hydregion - if anyone asks what kind of Pokemon it is, tell them that. Any more information you can Obtain on this creature you can forward to me with this secure number - do not use it for anything but critical intelligence, please. I'm also willing to take it off your hands to Research it myself, like my standing offer is for your 'Bio Fang' - you will be compensated for it accordingly. Otherwise, I recommend obtaining Ranc and Ritsuko Berries - this Dragon's temperment seems to be especially brutal from what you've told, and the data I've collected on it now only reinforces that notion. I'll have the rest of this Creature's basic information sent to you and Seddi by tomorrow morning regardless - its nice to have a good reason to do my actual job.

"Now, hand me back over to Seddi, please."

The phone is now back in the cowboy's hand ( @Dragonstrike ) , and the Professor is looking at him with those stern and ever assessing eyes of hers.

"If you have anything else to share, please do so now. Otherwise, I regretfully have to get back to my work on setting up my lab, with the local government, getting international communications stable.....I digress."
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.

"*Nods* Very well. Meet me at the Paldea Embassy tomorrow then and we can conduct the transfer. I can not promise you a lot of financial compensation for the Bio Fang, as most of my capital at the moment is tied to establishing a research operations center her in Sutalör,  but I have some items or services I can offer that will be well worth it."

This will be a Minor Encounter avaliable next in game day, if you so choose to give away Bio Fang for SCIENCE! and making your life easier. A shame, but we'll make you a Dark Dragon Master yet....

Regarding her, Seddi keeps it brief.  Fortunately, he doesn't have to fudge anything about the answer because Sada's only asking about why Morgana got involved before she had her sudden realization.

"Don't rightly know for certain, but I can guess her steppin' in likely has somethin' to do with either a) her continued fascination with me and the little group I'm associatin' with or b) she noticed Bernhard's name specifically come up on the list of possible volunteers for that lil' outing we were plannin'.  Either way, she definitely has some little birds around feeding her information on local events."

As for other things to share, Seddi will also show Sada the Cap-ture Device and the Dual Screened Device.  "Two more things that Akamu found in the same area as those critters.  The strange lookin' hat appears to be a containment device of some sort.  I'd venture a guess that it might be effective on those critters specifically, given it doesn't appear to be built with normal Pokemon in mind.  And as for that machine, I can't make heads nor tails of it.  Tried to do a field analysis and got nothin'.  Got completely stonewalled."  He is not going to elaborate on the hijinks that resulted from that 'field analysis', so 'completely stonewalled' will have to be a sufficient descriptor of that event.

After he wraps up here, Seddi is absolutely going to be taking a well deserved break (Minor encounter to rest and recover.  And also clean up all that Sitrus juice in his bag).  Despite doing very little today it felt like, it certainly felt like one heck of an eventful day.  (He should still have one Minor encounter left after this I think?  Can carry that over to the next day)

Before heading back to the embassy for the night though, Seddi would want to get a quick word in with Sylvia (@Pokekitty2).  "Two things if ya don't mind, Sylvia.  One: I'd like to meet with ya tomorrow to discuss a few things.  You can meet Leaves then, but I have a few questions for ya as well about your disappearin' act.  Two: have ya heard anythin' from Randy or that Murkrow ya recruited?  I couldn't get in touch with Randy either, and I find it a little odd that Murkow isn't tailin' ya right now.  If ya need help searchin' for them, I'd be happy to assist."

I'd be happy to meet. I still have work in the morning, but I can maybe talk it out with Tiffany, depending. When, and where, would work?

I'm not sure what Randy's up to. I might need to find some way to contact him again, eventually... as of now, though, we've mostly gone our separate ways. We worked together to get here and get set up, but our paths are different.
I have to check on Murkrow and Sir. Not sure how long I've been away, really, it's... been a trip. Should still be at the hotel, though, or at least still using it for rest and food.
Just a lil' Eevee, learning to draw...

"Somewhere quiet, unlikely to draw unwanted attention.  There's a particular park in the woods that's out of the way on the other side of the city.  Should serve our purposes well enough, and I can give ya some directions to it. You'll know you're in the right place if you see strange, fuchsia colored flowers growin' there.  As for time, tomorrow afternoon or evening maybe if you're busy in the mornin'.  I've got another meetin' that I'm trying to schedule for tomorrow too.  Shouldn't be hard to fit both in as long as nothin' else comes up, though."

Separate paths, huh?  Well, if Randy's not needed for interpretation now, Seddi supposes that makes sense.  Makes him wonder what the man's up to, but it's likely none of his business currently.

"Definitely try and find your pokemon partners tonight if ya can.  Since they aren't with ya right now, I wouldn't be surprised if they were worried about ya."

Seddi will tip his hat in farewell.  "Well, I shall see ya tomorrow then.  Hope you're prepared to take some good notes, 'cuz I think you'll stand to learn a lot tomorrow."

Gotcha. You've my number - I'll let you know when I'm off shift. Afternoon sounds about right, but we'll keep in touch.

Sylvia simply nods at that.

I'll bring a notebook. See you tomorrow, Seddi.

Sylvia then turns towards Akamu (@Redstone). It's been a pleasure to meet you, regardless of the peculiarity of these circumstances. She eyes the Ultra Ball. I do wish you luck training that... Gloomtail? Though it still quite unnerves me.

DM Note: The odds of the following happening, without any of the pre-reqs I had set up for it, was a flat 1/1296 chance. I only included it as a 'what if' , a silly thing for me to have a laugh at and to work off of to increase the odds of it happening as conditions were met. To give you a frame of refrence of how absurd this is, you're more likely to find a double yolk in a egg and only roughly 1/3 of this value (1/4096) to find a Shiny without modifiers. Hell, it was even less likely to happen, given I tried to put other Rolls to stop or mitigate what HAPPENED.

In other words: Miss Fortune and Lady Luck were gunning for you, dear oh dear.

Seven is a powerful number, you recall.

The Lucky Number, 3rd Prime, Terra's Ascension, and many more.

Quite a storied history, behind the number seven, and quite a bit of power to make anyone reckon with it.

However

It is hardly the only one with signifance

Many of them are great and meaningful

Let's count a few of them, shall we?

The moment your s p e l l hit and it's f e c t Triggered, you felt something p u l s in y o u r heart.

Weariness
Resentment
Frustration

It bubbled up from deep within, the culmination of the past several days of tulmulchtuous times and unexpected event throwing your perfectly order life end over in, a feat not even Morgana managed to do most days.

Perhaps some of this f e e l came from the Curses you cleansed from young Saph, scattered fragments having managed to worm their way and merge with your own H a t e for its Caster.

A giggle escapes you, as your thoughts drift to Morgana. Oh what a g i r l she is! An angel to you, a wicked witch to those that earn her ire most dire or whim most end! Your temperments are nothing alike, but in this moment perhaps a bit more of her has rubbed on you than could have ever been imagined.

Today's vexations - Zephy's plight, your failure to find hidden treasures, getting threatened by a overgrown r a t t - were already irritating, but now they made your blood b o i l, your spirit r o a r, and the oh so s u g r sweet satisfaction of taking it a l l

Black, photonegative copies of Zephy with white hearts on their cheeks, your most precious partner, a veritable hoard of them, appears throughout the rat pack and the surrounding the two Rattacate.

Silence.

Sweet sweet silence.

Like it came, the power that you inadvertidly called forth crept away, returning your appearance back to normal. You could feel it bid a f o n d farewell .... and a h o p e for more f u n to one day c o m e.

Good sense returning, you scope out the scene before you:

A Dozen Rattata dead.

Two Rattacate dead.

The Rattarule?

They were still standing, eyes g o n e and the blackest Curses streaking down its cheeks like tarry face paint.

It's head then slowly turned towards you, and for you they had a g r i n.

"T h a n k  y o u  f r i e n d."

Your energy left you.

Your Gauntlet ruptured.

Your blood spew from your mouth.

Your consciousness blacked out

=======

Suddenly you bolt up, awareness jumping at you like Zephy does to a sweets platter, panting hard and fast as you clutched your heart.

"Sir, SIR MAGI!"

A Nurse pops into your view, and you almost Cast a Spell on her, only for you to hiss as you felt your Gauntlet let out a ominous whine and the abuse it endure sting. It was then, as you become fully aware of your surroundings, of the hospital bed and the Pokemon Center emergency room you were in, that all was not well for you....and who how many else.

Moderate Encounter Abruptly ended due to Super Rare Chance Effect of Spellbind:

You and your Pokemon have earned the following net sum of XP to divide as you wish:
- 1 XP each from the Dead Rattata (Flat, no Mods) and 5 XP from the Rattacate (Flat, no Mods)
- 3 XP per Will of the Rattata + 5 XP per Will of the Rattacates ([3X3]X12 + ([5X7]X2) , subjected to your 0.5 XP Mod
- 10 XP for 'dealing' with Rattarule, no Mods
Total XP Earned: 12 + 10 + ([108 + 70]X0.5=89) + 10 = 121, or the angel's number. Oh the irony....

You have gained the Trait: Minor Curse Affinity. Effect: Black magic and negative energy manipulation increased, effects lessened and strengthed. Can be increased or modified by Action and XP. Typically found in Water Scimitar, it seems like you can count yourself among that number now...

You have learnt of the Evocation/Invocation Spell - [ D i e  F o r  M e ~ ] : it can be unlocked and bought for 88 XP. Effects hidden until Bought.

You have lost 4 Will (1/5), and taken Lethal Damage up until you had only 1 HP remaining; your Spritze has also lost all its Will and taken Lethal Damage up until it only had 1 HP remaining. The rest of your Pokemon (except Zephy) have lost 4 Will and taken 4 Lethal Damage, and have become Exhausted.

You have inadvertidly created a Curse Daemon - you do not know where it has gone, and the people that found and rescued you did not see anything like it around....

Bernard's Fate has Changed due to a BAD FORTUNE EVENT - Cancel all planned Minor and Bonus Encounters following this Moderate Encounter, no Refunds. Bernard also has a choice to make - Lose 1 Moderate Encounter the next day or All his Minor and Bonus Encounters for him and his Team to Fully Recover from WHAT just happened.

You are currently in one of Bayhama's Pokemon Centers resting, and have just gotten your stuff back after giving a report of things (however much you're willing to divulge).

How....how are you taking this?

The good professor briefly scowls at the bad news you had to deliver, pinching her noses and letting out a sigh of frustration.

"More complications on top of no doubt altering our relationship to local government and now having to deal with the constant threat of espionage. How excellent. Some days I wonder why I ever left the Crater..."

The Items you mentioned did manage to grab her attention and swing her mood around to positive, though she had a knowing look as you kept things brief about the DSD. Perhaps it had something to do how ruffled you look and the pure 'Why...' in your gaze. She didn't press, though, to your eternal gratefulness.

"Interesting. Akamu, if you are still here and listening, bring those Items to me and I'll begin my own analysis on them. I do not know when I'll have the back for you, but I promise that I'll use the results for the benefit of us all."

With all said and done the Professor terminates the call and leaves everyone to finalize their own business for the day.

- Seddi will recovered half his HP from the break, and will heal the rest bytomorrow morning. In the process of cleaning his Inventory he also happens to find: (3)(6) a Great Ball that was tucked away in a hidden crease! Nice!
- @Pokekitty2  You'll find your Pokemon companions in your room, completely zonked out. Nothing bad happened to them, hooray! Before you leave, though, the [D a r k] Ultra Ball starts rolling in your direction, only stopping at the edge of the table. You FEEL it's continued [C u r i o u s i t y]  and now [ S H I N Y  L I G H T  L E A V E . . . ] ; for a moment it looked like the Ball was going to burst open, but an excited trill from Goodra caused it to stop cold.
- @Redstone - You're told by Tiffany to avoid bringing that D a r k  Pokemon to the Koffee Shop in the future, since it was, to be blunt, giving her and a lot of others the MAJOR creeps. Lani seems a little disappointed that Gloomtail didn't cause a rucus OR had a chance to Fight/Interact with that MIGHTY GOODRA, while Kayla seemed a bit miffed at the shenanigans that took place.

On another note entirely....

- @SpiritmonYour Pokemon are Fully Restored to Health, though Bethy still is rather tired out by the ordeal. A seasoned fighter, the pup is not. You manage to gel well with the Nurse to increase your rep among the local Healers, and learn a rather concerning Rumor: People and Pokemon have been going missing since the Hurricane started. Not just from the flooding, but in general: mostly it was the homeless population, but a few residences have also been found empty, seemingly abandoned right as their owners where in the middle of something...
- @Iron: You end up working at a Pokemon Center, the one you briefly was stationed out of while helping out on the day of the Center Kidnappings. You gained 10 XP for yourself and 10 XP to split among your Pokemon, as well as the chance to get to know the doctors and Nurses as you all worked hard in getting things back to normal. Choose a Topic: You learn more about it, and may lead to interesting future Encounters highlighted...

With THAT, everyone's Encounters for the day should be DONE. Is everyone ready to progress to the Next Day?

[sorry for being late lol I was asleep, one quick last message]
