[Game Thread] Lord Windos’ PokeRole Adventure 2: The Wild Lands

Oz look at Dite and Hecate Pokeball, a sad in her face. She slaps her cheeks however. No. She can't give up now. She must try. With a huff, she grab both Pokeball, and carry with her. Time to fix things. She is determined to do it.

Oz couldn't refuse in give Glinda a little smile on her face. "Even today sister, you still can grab the hearts of many: Pokemon and human alike! This sure bring me back memories. Its reminds me when you were a young pokemon and we been reading some books. We been having a blast until a trainer a Machop came around asking direction. The Machope did try flirt with you, only to receive a Disarming Voice. Poor boy run away a while later, hehehe. You are the definition of femme fatale sister."

Oz is problably keen enough to notice Cerudge attention, but she decided to keep her opinion on herself. She still problably have some...weird things flying on her soul because of death and revival process.

Oz look around the private room. Having quite a lot of places to sit around and just...vent. She decided to sit the most comfortable place.
"This sure looks a nice place." She looks at the ground, and then at Seddi/@Dragonstrike. "Do you mind if...I bring my sisters to this conversation too? Or try at least. Its not just you who I owe a lot of...explanations. My others sisters deserved to know...The truth..." She looks at Hecate and Dite Pokeballs. "...Specially Dite and Hecate. Dite deserve the truth and...I owe her this at least. Open...my heart and be sincere as Sylvia suggested me."

"I don't mind at all, Oz.  I was actually plannin' to do somethin' similar with one of my own partners when I tell my story."

For all this talk of seriousness, Seddi is the picture of calm and composed.

If Oz is still having trouble with Dite wanting to keep their distance, Seddi will offer them a seat near him.  He can even summon Goodra as well if a more friendly presence is needed.

Vernon will enter Pwee into the Spectacle category (unless Power is better). The plan is for the enormous Pokemon to do the biggest possible cannonball into the pool, using Surf (is that a rare move in this campaign?) to enhance the splash, and catch as much of the descending water as possible in the colossal lilypad (Rain Dish).

He'll Stockpile a big dense meal ahead of the games to be as dense as possible. Maybe the re-emergence could be an Astonish.

Vernon is just as interested in scouting out how other trainers handle their own huge or rideable Pokemon. Perhaps there's racing in different categories he can observe while awaiting his turn.

Spectacle would be the best category for that kind of complex stunt, yes. Power would be more along the lines of the Power/Move/Feat itself being the highlight, rather than using it as one part of a series for a intended effect. Sorta the different between Swordplay as ART (Cutting something into shape to present or in an elaborate dance to WOW) vs Swordplay as MASTERY (Like pulling off a CUT-tier Move to show how unfathomably POWERFUL you are). Perhaps the difference between the two categories are not granular enough, but that's how the Pokeathon sees it and therefore how it goes.

Anyway, let's see how Pwee's Debut in the Pokeathon will go! The judges on hand watch carefully as you prep your gigantic lily duck (and bribe them to go along with it, of course) for a -

BIG SPLASH SPECTACLE!

For Stockpiling, I'll say that you have the time to pull it off to THE MAX for the 'Splash' Portion - + 3 Dice to that Performance Roll

First, the Cannon Ball - This will be treated as a Simple Strike for terms of 'Move' Calcs

DEX (2) + Fight (3) + Brawl (1) - 2 Actions = 4D6 Dice + (1 Perform + 3 Dice = 4D6 Performance Roll)
(1)(6)(6)(6) 3 Successes!
(4)(2)(3)(6) + 2 Appeal!

Pwee *SLAMS* into the water with enough force to cause it to crater, before the water surges up around him in a big, BEAUTIFUL jet the gets some nods from the committe and 'ooh's from random spectators!

Now for the SUR(F)GE Up! Regular Surf isn't too uncommon, but coming from a Untrained Mon like your (admittidly robust) Overgrown Lotad would be a bit of a surprise. Combine that with the great Cannon Ball and I can see it being a particularly effective follow up: + 2 Dice to that Performance Roll!

Surf's Up!
SPE (1) + Fight (3) + Channel (1 [They're IN the Zone!]) - 4 Actions = 1D6 Dice + (1 + 2 = 3D6 Performance Roll)
(4) 1 Success!
(6)(2)(2) + 1 Appeal!

Your green ducky's re-emergence was not exactly the most elegant or well controled, but it sure did make for great Spectacle. The Cannon Ball made what would already be a decent splash into a stunning geyser of Water that perfectly collected in his Rain Dish, from which he with unusual casualness drank from and stared at the judges, as it to say 'Yeah, I did that.'

Such bravado proved quite endearingly effective: Double Total Appeal Earned, then at + 1 Appeal!

End Result:
2 - Part Performance: + 1 Appeal
All Moves Worked: No Penalties
Simple but Good Plan: + 1 Appeal
Move Technical Aspects: 1 + 3 / 2 = + 2 Appeal
Raw Appeal: [(2 + 1 ) X 2 ] + 1 = + 7 Appeal
Total: 11 Appeal Points!

You JUST received enough points to Enter into the Bronze Spectacle Category as a fresh-faced darkhorse! For that alone you get refunded $250 Poke back as compensation for entering - if you do well in there you could stand to earn more !

As for scoping out the competition/any BIG Mons...

*Rolls* + 1
*Rolls* 3 Successes

Not a lot catches your eye in the Assessment Area - as the real showstoppers were usually already screened and entered ahead of time or given private testing to maximize their show stopping potential/hide their secrets - but you do manages to see two Trainers that catch your eyes: One that was Riding and Performing with a Lapras in a 'Surf and Ice Skating Combo' of sorts, and another that was trying to cheer up their Wailmer, who looked very disappointed at their failure of a Water Spout in impressive the judges (Tough crowd, seesh) with its POWER.

You figure you have enough time to chat with one later before the first Rounds of the P-Thon begins: will you speak with a would-be competitor in Spectacle or the drop-out with the Wailmer?

haha I love that Pwee is a glutton even for water. Cool mechanics for this, too.

Lapras is a tryhard mon. Vernon will approach the Wailmer's owner and ask what tricks it knows and where it was obtained.

"....Boy, you must got the heaviest pair this side of Bayhama. Saved us all, though, so I won't be complaining."

He takes a performative look around, before sighing and tugging on his beard.

"....Those that stuck around, at least. Guess that means the Competition is over. Going to be hell explaining everything, but since nothing terrible happened it can be weathered. Best prepare yourself too, son, 'cause as soon as the Festival has died down I bet the gov will be wanting to talk with you about that Mon of yours."

''I didn't get to where I am today without doing stuff like that. I wont let that big fish ruin my festival fun.''

He'd scoff at the other remark. Catching stuff that ends up under authoritie's lenses really wasn't anything new by now.

The Mega Stone was swiftly pocketed. Not something he could use right now but a valuable asset to posess either way.

After leaving the sailor to his devices and thanking every alolan god he could think of for the good fortune he'd probe the gloomy Ball for its feelings, figuring him to be even more nervous, maybe even impressed, after this ordeal.

The next stop was a Minor Encounter at the Department Mega Store, looking to try and sell his Rocky Helmet and *Circular Head Stone*, weird as it is there might be someone to appreciate the strange yet useful boosting item.

...Checking the TM store more out of habit then anything else the Draco Meteor would catch his eye big time. This would be a perfect fit for Ecclesia and her new shiny crystal.

On the way there a short message would be sent to Seddi @Dragonstrike , including only an image of the G-Gyarados' size data and a single sentence:  'It happened again, any idea where I could feasably sell/get rid of this thing?'

You got yourself a sigh and shrug from the Good Witch with your teasing, shaking her head minutely at all the times she drew 'attention' and being hit on. She was dedicated to the Art of Magic and her Master, not trying to flirt and hook up with others. Was it so hard to understand?

Ceruledge would occasionally creep closer, as if drawn further in and wanting to prod at you, but Glinda hovering around you kept them at a respectable distance.

Dite indeed would bolt to the opposite side of the private booth if Summon, though only after seeing if the door was locked, closed, and that their was no way out. Seddi offering a seat does nothing to assunge the fae fox's fears; heck, not even your own friendly Dragon was enough, as she just shied away from contact, cringing and shivering. Which got the goo boi to frown in worry before looking between Seddi and Oz with clear sadness and concern. If the cowboy didn't know better Dite's behavior would be textbook for Pokemon Trauma and Abuse - in this case its not the later but extremely likely the former.

Most Mons , like most people, can be remarkably sensative souls and need a great deal of 'grit' and Toughening before they can take the worst life can offer. Death of a loved one or friend severely messes with people, especially when it happens RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU and there was nothing you could do about it. Age is also a big factor, as the younger the more emotionally vulnerable they are.

Now combine all these together in one feel swoop, and perhaps it could be understood why Dite was so messed up by that experience. Seddi would know the above factoid , as well as the general advice for it: just give them up to a proper support group. Trying to rebuild trust so thoroughly shattered is a fool's errand for all but the most charismatic and empathetic souls or copious amounts of mental/soul manipulation to 'remove' the trauma, and nobody in the group really qualifies as a therapist but maybe Sylvia (Who has just left for greener pastures). Still, if you can persist...the bounce back is said to be epic indeed.

The Fisherman couldn't help but guffaw at your brazenness, shaking his head and raising a slightly shaky head to pick up his glasses and wipe them clean.

"Stars above, you fit right in here, ya barmy Rissy! Godspeed and good luck out there, 'cause if this is the sort of stuff you deal with regularly you need it!"

You do know from general group chat that Oz at least has access to Mega Evolution, though without a Slowbro with so level of Bond with the healer how useful it is was up to debate.

Right on the money, as your Patron sent out a wave of rich amusement and pride at you so handily 'taking care' of the raging Leviathan you invariably brought forth from the deep. You're making for a most impressive Disciple day after day...

Gloomtail, surprise surprise, was equally cowed and scared stiff by the G-Gyarados - you could Feel their [S h o c k  , A w e  , T e r r o r ] at such a DOMINATING Queen of the Deep being born and them visibly shrinking their Presence while it was out and about. Now that the crisis was over you could feel the BGD tentatively peek its metaphorical head out, a wondering sensation slowly emanating from His Ball. Where did the Big Scary Lady go...?

Caution about selling the Rocky Helmet: those Items are REALLY Rare and hard sought, since chip Damage on Contact EITHER WAY (aka whenever a Contact Move is used on the Target or BY the Target on a Foe) racks up FAST and only gets better the bulkier a Mon is. If you're still interested, however, you could easily trade it away for around $10000 .

A 'mere' mystical and unique Held Item like the CHS is arguably less valuable, though its flexibility of being either a Mystic Water OR Dragon Fang with Healing Upside is desirable in of itself. You could find someone willing to part with $5250 for it.

(All Sell Prices are AFTER the Mod)

If you have the Poke you can go for it! If not, you could always try to Trade Away some of your Supplies to get the necessary amount of Funds to get this limited time TM...

Seddi is able to get this message around the time he enters the Private Booth with Oz, so factor that however you like @Dragonstrike .

Lapras is a tryhard mon. Vernon will approach the Wailmer's owner and ask what tricks it knows and where it was obtained.

You approached the man, a soft faced and casually dressed settler with a tired yet proud face as he patted the side of his Wailmer comfortingly, going 'There there, we can always improve' . Getting his is easy, and though he was slightly hesitant at first to share or engage in conversation your ever affable demeanor manages to get both man and whale to crack smiles and be drawn in.

For Tricks: Their GIGANTIC Water Spout was supposed to be their ticket to the Bronze Leagues, but some bad mistiming on the beach ball's part cause it to 'short circuit' the Move and end up blasting the routund Mon out of the pool and nearly flattening a judge. He does share that Rain or using it after a Dive would have likely made them pull it off without a hitch, but such set-up is more reserved for Spectacle rather that Power dispaly.

For Where: He mentions fishing one up off the south coast of the Mageocracy while on work vacation there - he's a software designer and hobbyist Water Pokemon Watcher -  and becoming fast friends with the (then) abnormally small and runty Wailmor, getting a tearful smile and nuzzle from the Mon in question. For anywhere closer has got the man scratching his head for a moment, before mentioning that MAYBE you could find a stray one that has wandered off from one of the big pods in Deep Water and Far Away from the coast of Bayhama. Getting there without getting eaten or seriously waylayed on Pokemon Back would be a challenge (to say the least), while getting a boat geared up enough for that would be pricey. Either way you CUT it, getting a Wailmer was not the easiest thing unless you had connections and a LOT of Poke.

The Bronze Pokeathalon is about to begin - you still interested in joining, or has Vern got what he wanted out of the experience and is ready to wander off once more? If the later this would only count for a Minor Encounter and I'll calc XP for you and Pwee pronto, as well as any Loot you might obtain for giving up your spot to the next aspire in line.

Oz sees Seddi facepalm as he quickly checks his phone.

I'm going to have to start calling you Dragon Tamer Akamu at this rate.

You could see if the government is interested in keeping that critter under control.  Gyarados that size is dangerous, and it won't take them long to question you about it if it made a ruckus.  Could also try and find a buyer in the Afterlife bar, but diving into the shadier side of the city has its own share of risks.

Coincidentally, I'm at Afterlife with Oz right now.  About to have a private chat with her about yesterday.  If ya need my help, it might have to wait for a bit.

As for Dite...well...

"You've got your work cut out for ya, Oz (@Spiritmon).  Poor thing's scared stiff.  Whatever you're about to say, maybe be careful how ya phrase it.  They need comfort right now."

[i did not know about the both ways rocky helmet function, that is indeed a good reason to keep it.]

CHS sold for $5250, Draco Meteor Bought for $7500

Draco is taught to Ecclesia to her probable delight, a new powerful weapon to destroy foes. Lani is given the rocky helmet for now.

[Also spending 24xp on akamu to increase Fight to 4 and 12xp to put Brawl to 2]
