As Nathan and Ventus walk the hiking trails, and Nathan finishes explaining there are no wild Pokemon here, the unpredictable Mt. Ember reveals its nature. From the scrubby, fire-adapted forest at the base of the mountain, at the north end of the trail, come the hoots and hollers of a loud Pokemon.

"Well, that's unusual...there's normally no pokemon here.  I'm not sure what kind of pokemon that could be, but we should probably avoid it, wild or trainer.  There are lots of paths around here we can take at least, and I know of a few ways to get where I want to go.  It shouldn't be too hard to avoid it.  Unless it comes after us for some reason...we should be fine though.  I've never seen any pokemon not owned by a trainer of some kind here, and it's rare for anyone to be hiking this trail in particular due to how rough it can be in some places."

Only slightly fazed by the pokemon cry, Nathan continues into the forest, down the trail, taking great care to avoid any branches in the path that he knows head towards the north, and once again assuming Ventus will follow.  He'd get to where he wanted to go.  The large stone at the base of that tree was unlikely to have moved since the last time he had been here...
