I am interest in having actual smart opponents in the game, but at the same time, I fear that having too smart of an AI will either ruthlessly dominate new players, or be highly exploitable by the overly analytic sort.

Still, I think this would be a good idea for a Hard Mode, so to speak, and improve VT battle is always a good thing. After most/all the little and big bugs are fixed, they could start work on improving the AI.
