Part of the reason why Ventus won't straight up give the Combee to you is just how unlucky and irresponsible in game Larry is. Going into tall grass alone and having to be bailed out is one thing, but ignoring most if not all his Pokémon, doing bone headed things like have them all out at once without giving them prior orders to carry out, being a jerk to Shiva (Ventus never forgets. Never.).... I could go on, really.

Aww.

By the way, in-game Larry also claims to be a Breeder. Ohhh, I'd advice not to tell this to Shiva! Might hurt her feelings and pride. ^^
