Swinub rolled pretty badly, and I think you picked just about the best strategy at all times. I think Arbok would have done well against him, but it could have been a lot closer if the sixes fell in slightly different places.

I was hoping Inner Focus would come into play to teach Arbok some humility, but the risk of disobedience makes that pretty unlikely.

Even with Inner Focus, Apsis would not give a darn. STAB Fire Fang, with or without a Leer behind it, would not damper her mood what so ever if she failed to flitch them. Burning them would only be a plus in her eyes! That, and she was still coming off her Evolution high, so I doubt she would even understand humility.
