You don't have a chance to react, since you use at least part of your action trying to diplomacize - that's your first turn. I did give you an evasion, though, on the second move. It wasn't an ambush, because you encountered the Pokemon already and were face to face with it. You had already offered it foods. How would you know it was attacking if it didn't attack? lol

The reason food doesn't give you a bonus is more because the food is what allows you a roll at all. Spectacular food might grant a bonus.

I still think it suddenly attack me without a chance to react (Beyond the 2nd action evasion, I mean) is still a bit unfair, since I should have had a reaction to it its sudden aggresion (Ventus is an empath! He could pick up its intension the moment it decided to slice into it!), but I am not going to argue with you about it. Got to roll with the slashes, I guess...

Fair points on the food and priority movepool, however!
