Made it up as I went along. When I write/roleplay my characters, I have a general idea of his personality, how he would reacts to certain things, and his core motivations, but the rest of it is just choosing in what way he reacts to a situation/another character.(06-03-2017, 01:56 AM)Lord Windos Wrote:(06-03-2017, 01:16 AM)PhantomUnderYourDesk Wrote:(06-02-2017, 10:50 PM)Iron Wrote: Shiva, if you wish to give Ventus suggestions, I will take them into consideration when autoing him.
Hmm... I might be interested in asking him about if he knows anything about the benefitial raising of Psychic Types. He already offered his advice, but then those three 6 rolled came and brought Corsola. At this point, also ask from where exactly in Unova he originates and where he studied, because these are things that caught Shiva's interest. Classes in 'Advanced Pokemon Handling' and 'Pokemon Breeding' surely sound good. Stuff concerning Genesect can come later, when we're reunited.
Also lucky that you got you power back after 'only' two hours! And thanks for the Will Point~
Thing is, I have not told Iron ANY of my character backstory or personal details to him. I just run stuff that might be problematic to him first, then I write my posts. He only knows as much as I write about Ventus in the game thread, so...
To be honest, that's a bit of a dangerous thing to do in a tabletop RP game. Means the GM can't plan as much around your character because they don't know what will and won't conflict with the story.
Also, the GM is a bit like a deity in some sense. Meaning they should not only control a lot of what happens, but should also know what has happened and what will result from that. The GM should know the character's story, even if the rest of the party does not.
There's not too much to my character's story, for example. Ventus has heard almost everything Nathan's aware of concerning it (absol is basically the only part not revealed in character). Everything else is stuff only Iron knows currently so we can all be surprised when it happens. If I come up with something new to add to the backstory, I'll discuss it with Iron first so he can plan accordingly.
I'd recommend filling Iron in on the full story. The only surprises a GM should really have to worry about are the characters' decisions and the dice rolls from my understanding.
Ventus is very much a 'make it up as I go along' type character, so I could not honestly inform Iron about my chara's details because they didn't exist at the time, nor give him anymore information until I have thought of it after reading what he's posted. Granted, I usually run by my...more extreme ideas to him before I decide to post them, as not to disrupt his plans overly, and I've told him some things already about my character that I have firmly set in stone, but that is just about it.
Basically, I can't give Iron the full story because it does not exist, strictly speaking. I can come up with one, but it probably would not compare to the on the spot writing I do. I'm weird like that...
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.
