Why would you have not expected that outcome? It was clearly a losing battle for Nathan, and he has no respect for the guy at all now, even if he is a semi-decent trainer. Even though he could have filled the demand for honey immediately with just what he had on hand, he wasn't going to give in while he still had an out.

Plus, you've also stated that Teleport is a super useful move before, specifically when Shiva got Abra Tongue
