Just realized something: Princess wouldn't have been able to switch out when she encountered Pinsir. Bind Blocks. Which is more what I had in mind, darn it! I just couldn't find that bit on the exact mechanics of Block. The new canon is that he dropped the bee to move on to his next target, which makes sense.
